Gardner supports moving forward on Ginsburg seat, striking blow to Dem chances of halting nomination

By: Christal Hayes, USA TODAY, September 20, 2020:

WASHINGTON – Sen. Cory Gardner, a Republican in a tough reelection race in a swing state, said Monday he supports moving forward on a Supreme Court nomination to fill the vacancy left by Ruth Bader Ginsburg, significantly lowering Democrats’ chances of stopping the process until after the November election.

Story continues below advertisement

Gardner, who is facing a re-election challenge from former Gov. John Hickenlooper in Colorado, was viewed as one of the last potential holdouts that could halt the Senate from voting to approve President Donald Trump’s nominee to the high court. But a statement Monday evening made clear he will support moving forward in the process, likely leaving Republicans the votes to clear a nominee even if such a process comes before the November election.

“When a President exercises constitutional authority to nominate a judge for the Supreme Court vacancy, the Senate must decide how to best fulfill its constitutional duty of advice and consent,” Gardner said in a Monday evening statement. “I have and will continue to support judicial nominees who will protect our Constitution, not legislate from the bench, and uphold the law. Should a qualified nominee who meets this criteria be put forward, I will vote to confirm.”

Pretty simple arithmetic:
We still have 50 without Romney, Collins and Murkowski.
Pence breaks the tie.

That’s right. Grasserly said earlier today that we should wait until after the election, then backtracked.

Yes, and there is also a good chance that a few Dems will vote for someone like Barbara Lagoa. And a few Dems may abstain from voting, to protect themselves in sensitive elections.

Maybe Democrat Senator Joe Manchin from West Virginia is not ready to retire and will be voting yes.

I hope so, but I don’t think he will vote ‘yes’. However, he might abstain, and that would help us.

WHEN DOES TRUMP EVER LISTEN TO THE DEMOCRATS? This is exactly WHY the majority of Americans voted him into the Presidency!

DEMOCRATS are gonna scream to high heaven when he Trump picks AMY BARRETT, the most likely conservative he could choose.

REMEMBER, it is the SENATE that confirms SCOTUS votes. NANCY HAS NO POWER OVER THIS ONE AND THIS IS WHY THEY ARE SO ANGRY! Once Trump selects the Judge, it is then out of his hands and IT MUST GO FORWARD in spite of the election. Since Romney and a few other never-Trump people in the Senate have come out FOR Trump and his nominee (whoever that might be), it is a done deal.

Evidently for the Justice having Hillary fix the election in her favor was acceptable. An Officer of the Court sworn to uphold the Constitution, defend the US from enemies from both within and outside the US. Ruth B Ginsburg if this quote is correct and this was your attitude then you failed to meet the measure.

GOD HAS ALREADY TAKEN CARE OF GINSBURG, so let’s not worry about that now. Just be glad that HILLARY did not win. I am equally sure that BIDEN WILL NOT WIN EITHER, in spite of the threats of the liberals out there to cheat and steal the election. GOD, BY DIVINE PROVIDENCE will see us through this as He did in 2016, IF WE ALL PRAY DAILY ASKING FOR HIS HELP, AGAIN!

COME ON AMERICA. WE NEED GOD ON THIS, SO PRAY!

I think Lefties were disappointed she didn’t live beyond Nov 3 and if somehow Biden won they could anoint their Harvard educated Constitutional Scholar to the Supreme Court. Of course this would be Barak Hussein Obama, He would continue to be President in the guise of a Justice in black robes for life appointed for life. He would be be protected from being thrown out of office. Don’t forget this scholar thought we had 58 Stars on our Flag for the 58 States, Scholar LOL, he won’t release his educational records. He thought Puerto Rico was a State during the Hurricane crisis. Then he would like to see his beloved Hawaii become independent since he feels it was stolen. Does he believe they will be financially self supporting. Just like his big grandiose plans Obama Care, the Arab Spring, Iran giving up Nukes and honoring a gentleman’s agreement on ballistic missiles; they all were a bunch of crap.

I can’t wait for the democrats to pack SCOTUS with 72 gender neutral associate justice.

they can pass the madness at the house but if the GOP has enough senators and Trump in office in 2021. they will fail.

Senator Susan Collins is a piece of work. In 2016 she wanted an up or down vote on Obama Supreme Court Justice nominee DEM Merrick Garland. In 2020, she doesn’t want that.

.My guess is Trump may go with Amy Barrett. She has been before these corrupt people before and been confirmed for her latest position. I’m uneasy on this communal living stuff… is that true? I like that she worked under Scalia but that doesn’t necessarily mean she will echo his view. We also don’t need another social liberal in there. What’s next – sex with animals?

let’s hope Amy Barrett is not the new RINO John Roberts.

With Roberts, SCOTUS is 4.5 republicans 4.5 democrats

with Trump pick, SCOTUS would be 5.4 / 3.6

better. barely.

Sounds like Mittens wants to be a consistent DEM in drag and join Collins. We can get by without his vote for it.

I’m not really enthused about either one. The Cuban, Lagoa, from what I understand is first generation from Cuba. Coming from Florida, she probably had her formative years in a Cuban dominated area. That really doesn’t reflect our overall culture. Would she be soft on illegal immigration and immigration in general? How about social benefits? I am only guessing but I don’t think Trump will choose her. Trump already has the Cuban vote. I could be wrong, maybe it will be her.

Both are Catholic. How seriously do they take Pope Frances who is a cultural Marxist? Barrett went to Notre Dame and that is a very liberal politically correct University.

Barrett also took issue with Trump’s public charge rule and dissented –

In Cook County v. Wolf (7th Cir. 2020), Barrett wrote a 40-page dissent, disagreeing with the majority’s decision to uphold a preliminary injunction on the Trump administration’s controversial “public charge rule” which heightened the standard for obtaining a green card, creating a wealth test, and has been heavily criticized as causing immigrants to disenroll from government benefits. In her dissent, Barrett argued that disenrollment was caused by confusion surrounding the rule, rather than the rule itself, writing that the vast majority of the people subject to the rule are not eligible for government benefits in the first place.

(None of them should be eligible. The rule didn’t seem confusing to me and had been used in the past with no confusion….Trump simply implemented it and fine tuned it. It’s been ignored over the years. I hope I am not seeing a bleeding heart liberal here….)

Amy makes me uneasy. I think Trump will choose Amy however I would rather see two other women considered if it has to be a female. I’d like to see a Judge Jeanie type in there.

Also from Colorado, and that phrase caught my attention immediately. Then again Gardner knows his seat is very vulnerable given how many of us conservatives and independents do not like/trust him. I was not going to vote for him a second time but we need to get Colorado back from the Democrat marxist mob.

Threatened, a Charlie Hebdo employee exfiltrated from her home
September 22, 202003

Marika Bret was exfiltrated from her home due to threats considered serious, she explained on Monday, September 21, in an interview. These “precise and detailed threats” were received on September 14 by the security agents who have been protecting him for almost 5 years.

An exfiltration that “reflects the unprecedented level of tension we face,” says the director of human resources for the French newspaper, underlining “a hallucinatory level of hatred around Charlie Hebdo.”

“Since the beginning of the trial and with the reissue of the cartoons, we have received all kinds of horrors, including threats from Al-Qaeda and calls to finish the work of the Kouachi brothers,” testifies Marika Bret.

Al-Qaeda threats

The terrorist organization Al-Qaeda threatened to attack Charlie Hebdo again, who republished cartoons of the Prophet of Islam Muhammad during the trial, claiming that the deadly January 2015 raid on the newspaper ‘n’ was not an isolated incident. .

The trial for the January 2015 attacks, which continues with a very high level of security, has seen several members of the Charlie Hebdo staff, seriously injured by the terrorists in the attack, take the stand since 2 September. Army of January 7, 2015. Twelve people died during this attack by Chérif and Saïd Kouachi.

Following the Charlie Hebdo massacre and the Montrouge assassination, the Paris Special Criminal Court has been plunged, since Monday, into the horror of the Hyper Cacher hostage-taking on January 9, 2015, during which four men, all Jews, were killed.

Fourteen people are on trial for their alleged logistical support to the perpetrators of these attacks.

Do we really need a devoutely Catholic woman, or any devoutely religious person, on our Supreme court?
A religious person’s religious beliefs will surely strongly influence the way they vote.
Do we really want someone who believes that God is real, a God for whom there is not, nor has there ever been, any proof or evidence, making decisions that determine how we live our lives?
We might as well have someone on our Supreme Court making extremely important decicions who believes that Zeus, Poseidon, The Tooth Fairy, or Spiderman are real.comment image
