A group of 100 Orthodox rabbis has called on Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos to stop relying on the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) in determining which charities are eligible and which ones are “hate groups,” and therefore are ineligible from receiving charitable donations through the company’s AmazonSmile initiative.

“AmazonSmile, launched in 2013, allows customers to select a charity to which Amazon donates 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible items,” according to Fox News, which first reported this week on the Sept. 1 letter from the Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV), labeling the SPLC’s “hate map” as “uniquely detrimental and even dangerous to the Jewish community.”

“While the SPLC is careful not to denigrate the Bible or other religious texts directly, it frequently vilifies groups based upon nothing more than their advocacy for biblically based beliefs about sexual and family ethics that were uncontroversial a generation or two ago,” state the rabbis in the letter. “Notably, groups which falsely paint others as ‘homophobic,’ ‘transphobic’ and ‘bigoted’ simply for retaining traditional beliefs are not categorized as hateful by the SPLC.”

“Of perhaps even greater concern is the SPLC’s inexplicable omission of groups which ally with international terror organizations, openly glorify murder under the guise of ‘resistance’ and frequently descend into clearly anti-Semitic expression,” the letter continues. “The SPLC avoids identifying radical Islamic groups as the leading source of modern-day anti-Semitic violence, instead identifying anti-Semitism as characteristic of a variety of supremacist and separatist groups that does not include radical Islam or Islamic terror organizations.”

The rabbis note that the SPLC “partners” with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which is steeped in controversy, including being an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terror case that proved connections to Hamas and other radical Islamic entities.

“According to the SPLC, Christians can only incite hate, and Muslims can only be its victims. Yet more Jews have been murdered in the past 50 years due to radical Islamic terror organizations than all those groups that the SPLC does mention—combined. This level of dishonesty directly endangers the Jewish community,” states the letter.

I am actually suggesting the exact opposite of that, but you’re too dumb to understand. Currently many people who work full time jobs are on food stamps because their wages aren’t enough to live on. If their employers (not the government) paid them a higher wage, they would not need government assistance.

In Nohio (special emphasis on “No”) it’s quite easy to qualify for Ohio Directions (food stamps). Making $20.00 per hour (average wage for full time Amazon employees, at the Euclid hub is $22.37 wage/benefits) still can put you (if you have NO SELF RESPECT) sucking on the taxpayer’s teat.

And here in Cbus, I believe I saw that Amazon wages start at $17 for part time employees, and that is still twice what the fed minimum wage is!

I remember my first time in Nohio, as an adult. I had returned from several years, overseas. I went to a grocery store and saw the cc payment scanners. There were pictures of the Visa logo, Mastercard, Amex, etc. At the bottom there was a picture of a lighthouse, with Ohio Directions on it. The black woman, directly before me, had used it … as I had noticed the lighthouse and had never seen a card like that.

I asked the clerk what a directions card was … she looked at me as if I was from outer space (I’d been gone from the Big Island for well over a decade), and she told me it was “EBT”. I had NO idea what an EBT was, so I asked, “EBT?”. She replied, gave me the most incredulous look. She then said, “Y’know … food stamps.”

I thought that they came in booklets of coupons.

That, was in the year 2000. Being here, in Northeast Nohio, I have since seen them many times.

Just like many groups that started up in the 1960s like SPLC it had good intentions and decency but we now have a very different generation running that show these days and it can be seen very clearly that who, and what, they call hate groups, doesnt seem to include any islamic groups even though they scream the loudest amount of hate at us all the time.

The more I see about Amazon, the less I like it. But where are any alternatives to the shopping avantages it certainly has over all the sources I know of.

Does anyone know of other on-line stores with the breadth and depth of Amazon’s? Even if it takes two or three other stores to replace Amazon, I’d drop it like a hot potatio.

I buy nothing whether it be books, foods or appliances where the inducement is 0.5% or 50p or whatever, is gifted to a charity. I don’t believe for a second that the contribution comes from Amazon’s bottom line. It has been inserted into the purchase price, being nothing less than a fraud and designed to make you feel warm and giving. I haven’t bothered to investigate what charities are involved or whether one has a choice as to which gets the money but I’d guess it would be one with inflated administration costs or, quell horreure! – it might even go to a muslim charity.
