If the situation were ‘normal,’ I think we would have no reason not to activate the National Guard, and, indeed, good reason to activate it under Federal authority to keep the peace and quell the riots. But #2020 isn’t normal. And on top of that, I’m certain the President is not getting the best advice on these tricky issues.

To us ‘normal’ people, it all seems straightforward. There’s riots … so stop them. Trump did so in Minneapolis – so why not everywhere? Why does the President bluster on Twitter when he could have stopped the riots in Portland weeks ago, and issued an Executive Order to put units on standby across the country to respond to any new outbreaks like that in Kenosho.

Personally, I don’t agree, and the reasons are complicated. Let it suffice that the ensuing lawsuits could easily place the President in the very uncomfortable position of either defying a Federal judge or breaking a “red line” like a promise to stop the riots. Although all Americans would hail the President for stopping riots in defiance of a Federal Judge if they knew the facts, most of the drones are still clueless while they’re sucking on the face diaper. To make matters worse, the President cannot count on the support of the feckless Republicans in Congress to protect him from Pelosi right before the election if she went after him for defying a judge.

Also – there is a better solution, which seems to be in progress, but only at a glacial pace – probably because Federal law enforcement continues to be run by the Deep State and Obamessiah holdovers despite all of Trump’s efforts. That solution is for Federal law enforcement to actually go out and do what Sen. Rand Paul asked them to do after he was assaulted last night.

Namely, the Feds need to investigate the rioters. Trump has already ordered this to be done, stiffened the penalties for rioting, and signed an Executive Order. Find the organizers and the funding, and go after the money and leaders with stiff sentences.

But law enforcement action takes time, and I think – after two months – the Feds are dragging their heels. Given the nature of Federal employment, I would not be surprised if the Feds already know everything necessary to stop the riots and bring charges, but cannot proceed due to ‘mysterious’ delays and hang-ringing by the Deep State overlords. I would imagine the top of the food chain is lecturing their liaisons with the Rank and File on the necessity to avoid appearing to be political

… as if stopping a riot and the ensuing chaos is some sort of campaign contribution to the RNC.

Anyway, my point is that perp walking someone funding these riots would solve the problem, avoid political minefields, and be something that would actually chill the Left’s thirst for violence. But the N.G. option would be tricky – and God help us if we have a Kent State incident during any such confrontation.

… and … if the President could “send in the Marines” as we all know he has the ‘authority’ to do … the FBI would already have a flock of Sore Asset operatives – and other criminals – singing for their lives.
