Why We Need History

22

The savage Left is busy tearing down statues and repudiating American history, and with it America itself. In response, lovers of freedom are deploring the destruction and denouncing the barbarians, but few are mounting a robust and informed response to their hatred of American history itself. Yet if there is anything that this orgy of destruction should have taught us, it is that we must know, and know familiarly, and cherish, the history of our republic. Doing this will go a long way toward saving our free society.

The reason for this is clear: now is the time for all of us to study and become deeply familiar with American history, because if we do not know what made America great, we will not be able to make it great again. Yet it is safe to say that many, if not most, Americans who deplore what the Leftist savages are doing to our monuments only have the most glancing knowledge of how the United States became a beacon of freedom for the world, such that people from all over try to get here despite the Left’s relentless defamation of our country as a bastion of racial hatred and injustice.

Ahistorical myopia and ignorance of history is a significant cause of the current outpouring of hatred for America. To take just one of innumerable examples, Leftist rioters and destroyers are enraged at Americans who were memorialized despite being slave-owners. They’re heedless of the fact that slavery was not universally considered a moral evil at the time these men lived, and that there are very likely to be people in future ages who look at our times and scratch their heads and ask each other How could they not have known that was wrong?.

Story continues below advertisement

Even more importantly, the Leftists are heedless of the fact that the movement to abolish slavery arose in Britain and America because of Christian principles that they despise, while slavery persisted long into the twentieth century in several Muslim countries because of Islamic principles that they profess to respect. Saudi Arabia, a country based strictly upon Islamic law, only abolished slavery in 1962, and North African states including Mauritania and Niger only did so in the early twenty-first century, because of Islamic laws that the Leftists rioters would no doubt say it was “Islamophobic” to denounce.

Rating America’s Presidents: An America-First Look at Who Is Best, Who Is Overrated, and Who Was An Absolute Disaster is an attempt to correct this ignorance of our own history, and to arm Americans to defend the history and heritage of the United States, so as to incline people to defend our country itself. It introduces Americans to unknown heroes of our own history that everyone should know about, including Chester Arthur, who was president from September 1881 to March 1885. Arthur was a champion of civil rights in an age when very few were. When Arthur was twenty-five in 1854, he joined the law firm of Erastus D. Culver, at which he formed part of a legal team that argued successfully for the freedom of any slaves that their owners brought to New York.

Arthur also led the defense team for a black woman, Elizabeth Jennings Graham, who was not allowed to ride a New York City streetcar. The future president won the case, and New York City streetcars were desegregated, one hundred years before Rosa Parks, courtesy of Chester Arthur.

Then there is General Grant, whose statue in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park has already been toppled. Grant not only fought against and destroyed the slave power and enacted civil rights laws. From the very beginning of his presidency, he demonstrated a consistent commitment to the equality of rights of all people. He declared: “I have no prejudice against sect or race but want each individual to be judged by his own merit.” Just weeks after taking office in 1869, he approved an act stipulating that the word “white” be struck from all requirements to hold office or serve as a juror in the District of Columbia. When Southern states resisted Reconstruction measures, denied blacks the right to vote, and allowed the Ku Klux Klan to terrorize black populations, Grant sent federal troops to restore order and enforce the law.

Grant’s determination to protect the rights of the freed slaves made him extremely unpopular in the South, and increasingly in the North as well, particularly among Democrats, whose 1868 campaign slogan was “Our Motto: This is a White Man’s Country; Let White Men Rule.” This was their guiding principle throughout Grant’s presidency, and when they won control of the House of Representatives in the 1874 midterm elections, the Democrats were able to stymie almost completely Grant’s efforts to protect the civil rights of black Americans.

Democrats stymieing efforts to protect Americans – now that sounds familiar. Learn this history before Leftists erase it entirely.

ANITFA is dominated by mostly white jobless college/university students and after that uneducated students. Of course there are many college/university students also participating but the jobless ones dominate. Collectively they are convinced communism would create a just world – social justice. BLM has some white people too but more so dominated by blacks. It’s not a clear cut racial break down. Muslims want us destroyed because they want us to be a caliphate and hate everything about the west. Lastly there is the usual ignorant group that really believes this is about black livse matter and it is not! It just makes them feel self righteous.

Since the college/university students can’t pay their loans and can make only a certain amount before their salary is garnished to repay their loans, they can be paid under the table money by rioting and looting. (I made the last part up. The video doesn’t talk about rioting and looting.)

As you can see rewritten history has taken its toll. They can’t have honest, complete history or even the dumbest light bulb might reject what they are striving for – communism (social justice) and love of Islam and hatred of Christians and Jews. they also changed it to Social Studies to further blur the outcome in lower grades. This was intentional to obscure what is most important – history over culture. Memorizing dates was abandoned to remove timelines showing how some laws, polices and movements worked and others didn’t over time. We are ripe for a revolution.

I would hate to know how many colleges, universities and high schools are using A People’s History by Howard Zinn, one of many communist history books students are forced to use and learn as history. Look how highly rated it is at Amazon! That’s just one book of many used in Common Core and higher education. https://www.amazon.com/Peoples-History-United-States/dp/0062397346/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&hvadid=78683852937624&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvqmt=e&keywords=a+people%E2%80%99s+history+of+the+united+states&qid=1593361199&sr=8-1&tag=mh0b-20

After they destroy all monuments and libraries,….there will be NO EVIDENCE that once they were slaves.
Funny.

ALSO, there will be NO evidence that it was the Democrats who enslaved blacks, and it was about 340,000 white, conservative, Republican, Union soldiers who died to emancipate them. That will also be erased, conveniently.

There is an irony that everyone, universally, is afraid to discuss. Here we are today, living half a century or more after the end of slavery and segregation and what has happened, actually, in reality, AND MERELY SEEING THIS, NOT MAKING ANY MORAL JUDGEMENT ONE WAY OR THE OTHER, the destruction that the “white racists” originally did not want to happen, to their cities, to their institutions, to their country, IS HAPPENING! So were they “right” to not want that, to know that it would happen, or is it just the SEALED FATE of the racist white that his racist country MUST BE DESTROYED to avenge his evil white racism that he viciously spread all over the holy peaceful wonderful world for centuries?

Having those historical markers and monuments around serve the same purpose as leaving the entry gates and crematory ovens left in place at the Auschwitz death camp site, not as fond memories or honorable consideration but as a lesson and warning from history.

They are sorely needed since the veneer of human civilization is mighty thin. Take a look around.

Confederate generals and soldiers were often great men just fighting on the wrong side. It is actually an evil construction to compare them to anything related to the Nazis. Simpletons with simplistic low IQ minds dragging their knuckles on the ground with low morals jump around and in the filth of their existence today look back in history and find people FAR SUPERIOR TO THEM and denounce them. These trash today are not worthy to lick the souls of the boots of Robert E. Lee. But simplistic minds are not able to assess the value of a man, as a man, they can only deal in trite phrases devoid of morality.

Agreed. Lee dropped out of West Point to join the Confederacy. My parents are buried in my Mom’s family plot, just a few feet from one of her relatives who was a doctor in the 49th Alabama Infantry.
