On Wednesday, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced he is throwing out plans for a massive police budget hike as support for slashing police department funds grows among activists in the wake of George Floyd’s death.
As protests continue across the country, some activists are calling to “defund police” and redirect those funds to other areas such as education and health care, arguing police reform is not enough.
Black Lives Matter and a coalition of more than 100 other black rights organizations launched an open letter this week calling on citizens to sign a petition to demand local officials decrease funding for police departments and redirect funds to “spending on health care, education and community programs.”
Some politicians are listening: the Los Angeles Police Department was set to receive a large increase in its annual budget from $1.189 billion last year to $1.86 billion (most of the budget increases were for new police bonuses) for 2020-2021 before Garcetti axed that move Wednesday, cutting $100-$150 million — only after activists rallied outside of his home.
In New York, more than 40 city council candidates are calling for a $1 billion cut to the NYPD’s $6 billion budget over four years to help fund other programs such as the city’s summer youth employment program.In cities such as Minneapolis, Dallas, Philadelphia, and Nashville, similar movements are gaining traction.
Still, most lawmakers have remained hesitant to the proposal: “For folks who say defund the police, I would say that is not the way forward,” New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said, indicating that the department needs money for community policing and reaching out to young New Yorkers.”
No, I don’t believe that we should defund police departments,” Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.), chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus said during a press conference Wednesday.

Spreading anarchy by any means possible… defunding police organizations and replacing them with what? Community organizer backed groups of vigilantly and social justice warriors seeking to put forward their version of justice. Defunding law enforcement is the end goal of the Democrats, Liberals, which will lead to anarchy, another endeavor of the treasonous Leftist contagion. The majority of Americans, one hopes, are not akin to this betrayal and anarchy. Civil War is but a breath away, the Democrats and its legions are hell-bent on the Republic’s downfall. It is not only LA but numerous cities underfoot of the faux-Democrats, a party which is now the Enemy of the State. Not that it was not the said enemy before this recent outbreak of civil disaccord, gratuitous violence, rioting, and mayhem.

My, my! LA and Mnpls Mayors there is a very simple lesson you can experience in a 5-day experiment, it’s called the
‘Blue Flu’. This way before you defund, you’ll have a taste of what will come to be as the thugs of your city really take over. If you intend to set an example with defunding, shed yourselves of your Security Detail. You don’t want to be hypocrites taking at least 1mm dollars from the city whereby the Community could have use of this money.

It seems to me, every time we have a riot, we get a taste of what life would be like without law enforcement…. it certainly wasn’t unarmed civilians who stopped the looters and rioters in 1992 during the Rodney King riots and it isn’t unarmed civilians stopping anybody this time either. What was clear in this last episode and this is that cops are easily defeated because they are told to stand down and they don’t actually have the manpower to stop such chaos. Imagine having less than we have or none at all… and that would be a permanent state? That is an open license for thugs to be thugs! No thank! Especially when our leaders are trying to also take away the means for us to protect ourselves by infringing on our rights described in the 2nd Amendment!
As it is, it’s nearly impossible to get a concealed carry license in LA. But if you find yourself in the midst of a mob… what is one supposed to do? Call the police and wait for help to arrive? Go to the trunk of your car, unlock the firearm that you have locked in it, pull out the empty magazine, load it with ammo, then put it into your pistol (like you’ll really have time for that!)? Would you now get busted for having a loaded firearm that you aren’t licensed to carry?
Here’s some insanity…. a guy is just outside his shop, some looters try to overtake him, he pulls out his firearm and shooting it causes those guys to flee but then someone behind him jumps on him and gets him in a choke hold and is choking him… so the guy shoots and kills the assailant as he is fearing for his life. He’s just outside his shop and shoots in self defense. And now he finds himself in jail and under investigation by a grand jury. because he didn’t have a concealed carry permit… he was just outside his shop! Where are the cops to protect him? He was lucky he was armed or else he could very well be dead like that former cop! Why does he need a permit to protect himself? If you have looters, can you only defend your property by cowering on the inside while they vandalize the outside? Utter insanity! What ever happened to the “shall not be infringed” part of the 2nd Amendment?

If you want a perfect illustration of what can happen if you place the street cops at a disadvantage, do an online search for “North Hollywood shootout” where two bank robbers using illegally modified weapons and wearing body armor were able to hold off the LAPD for almost an hour.
Watch it yourself, it will change your perspective.
