NYC shootings continue to surge — and cops warn it may be the new normal

Bullets are whizzing around New York this month at a rate not seen in nearly a quarter century, according to the NYPD — and police sources warned that the recent run of gunplay may be the new normal.
Story continues below advertisementThrough the first three weeks of June, which came to a close Sunday, city streets echoed with 125 shooting incidents, Chief of Crime Control Strategies Michael LiPetri told The Post on Monday.
“We have to go back to June of 1996 to get a worse start for June,” said LiPetri. “That is a telling stat.”
Twenty-four years ago, Rudy Giuliani was mayor and, while the city had made strides in tamping down crime, Gotham still saw 2,938 people shot and 984 murdered.
Although overall crime citywide remains down 2.5 percent for the year, shootings, already trending up this year, exploded in June.
From Monday, June 15, through Sunday, there were 53 shooting incidents across the city, the highest mark for a single week since Mayor de Blasio took office.
The last time the city recorded that many shootings in a week was around July 4, 2012, according to police sources.
But to find a nonholiday week — which tends to be quieter — with that many shootings, the department had to look all the way back to 2005, according to LiPetri.
“This weekend we also saw real challenges out in our streets in terms of gun violence,” said de Blasio in a press briefing, remarking on the blood-soaked stretch that included 24 people shot citywide on Saturday.

The problem must be all those pesky guns brought in from Indiana and Vermont. Gun control just didn’t go far enough. Just like real socialism hasn’t been tried yet.

Make no mistake about it. If a DEM gets in the WH they will confiscate your guns and oddly the U.S.Supreme Court is refusing to hear cases on guns. That is not a coincidence. The Supreme Court has also set a precedent in legislating rather than interpreting existing law as they are supposed to.
They have also usurped President Trump’s legitimate Executive authority in ending a policy set forth by Obama on DACA. None of this is Constitutional! The majority on the court are liberal, living and breathing Constitutional interpreters that cater to our declining social mores.

DeBaizo is unfazed. His most pressing concern at the moment is to remove the Teddy Roosevelt statue from the entrance to the Museum of Natural History in NYC. Clearly this has festered in what we would laughingly call his mind for decades. He hates strong men and Republicans. Will he replace it with Castro? Castro is one of Deblazio’s heroes.Of all places to have a honeymoon, he and his former black lesbian wife chose CUBA when we were not on friendly terms with Cuba.
DeBlazio must have been in ecstasy at meeting with Castro’s brother, Raul Castro!

Mayor Bill de Blasio met with the president of Cuba in Manhattan on Saturday, the Associated Press reported.
Cuban officials invited de Blasio, who visited the Communist island nation in 1991 for his honeymoon, to visit with President Raul Castro in the country’s mission inside the United Nations building.
De Blasio spokesman Peter Kadushin released a statement that the mayor and controversial head of state had a “productive exchange of ideas” as they discussed prekindergarten education, health care and women’s rights for about an hour.
De Blasio’s visit comes one day after Gov. Andrew Cuomo met with Castro. The two had not met during Cuomo’s trade mission to Havana in April.

Residents of the City of New York are getting exactly what they voted for.
When people start to wise up, pay attention to the facts and vote with their mind (not their emotions), then and only then will things change for the better.
If they want a safe and prosperous city (business) and family friendly (tourism) city, then the people will vote accordingly and those voted into office will start representing The People (and not the criminals as they are doing now).

Exactly. Because as things stand, this city is explicitly family hostile (pandering to LGBT supremacists and other forces of moral turpitude).
But though I am a resident, I have NEVER voted for this madness. Somewhat before, but especially SINCE 9/11, I never vote Democrat in general elections.
