Seattle CHOP zone prompts lawsuit from businesses, residents: reports

Former Washington congressman slams Seattle mayor for proposed $20M police budget cuts: ‘It’s the biggest mistake they can make’

Former Washington Congressman and Sheriff Dave Reichert describes the CHOP violence as ‘third world action,’ while also slamming Seattle’s mayor Jenny Durkan for proposing to slash millions of dollars from the police budget in a wide-ranging interview with Fox News Digital.

Numerous Seattle businesses – including an auto repair shop, a tattoo parlor and a property management company – sued the city Wednesday, alleging city officials were complicit in allowing an “occupied protest” that has made them feel unsafe in their neighborhood, according to reports.

Workers and residents also joined the lawsuit over CHOP, the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest, which drew scorn from President Trump and other critics who accused Mayor Jenny Durkan, the city’s police chief and other city leaders of turning the area over to “anarchists.”

Organizers of CHOP — part of the widespread rioting and demonstrations that followed the May 25 death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis — said they sought to establish a “police-free” area in Seattle’s Capitol Hill district.

Since the occupation began June 8, the area has seen shootings, vandalism and other crimes.

Last Sunday a 17-year-old victim was shot in an arm and last Saturday a 19-year-old man was shot dead and another person was critically wounded, Q13 FOX of Seattle reported. In both cases, hostile crowds slowed police efforts to reach the crime scenes, the station’s report said.

“(T)his lawsuit is about the constitutional and other legal rights of plaintiffs – businesses, employees and residents in and around CHOP – which have been overrun by the city of Seattle’s unprecedented decision to abandon and close off an entire city neighborhood, leaving it unchecked by the police, unserved by fire and emergency health services and inaccessible to the public at large,” the lawsuit says, Q13 FOX reported.

One local business owner, Joey Rodolfo of Buki clothing, told “Fox & Friends” this week that he plans to move out of state because of what he described as Seattle’s lack of governmental leadership.

“Since we have no leadership and we have a city council that’s so socialist, there really is very, very little support for businesses,” Rodolfo said. “As far as the city reaching out to small businesses like ourselves, or any business, there has been zero.”

The Seattle city attorney’s office told local media that it hadn’t yet had an opportunity to review the lawsuit but planned to respond after reviewing it.

The plaintiffs allege that city leaders provided the demonstrators with barriers, public restrooms and medical supplies – in effect supporting the occupation of the neighborhood and hindering the efforts of local businesspeople, employees and residents to reach their buildings, receive deliveries and provide services, the Seattle Times reported.

The CHOP zone has also worsened conditions for elderly and disabled people in the area, the lawsuit asserts, according to the newspaper.

“The result of the City’s actions has been lawlessness,” Calfo Eakes LLP, the law firm representing the plaintiffs, told the Times in a statement. “There is no public safety presence. Police officers will not enter the area unless it is a life-or-death situation, and even in those situations, the response is delayed and muted, if it comes at all.”

Facing mounting pressure, Durkan on Monday said the city would begin dismantling the blocks-long occupied area – claiming the crimes and other violence in the zone were distracting from the message that peaceful protesters tried to communicate when they established the occupation, Q13 FOX reported.

“The cumulative impacts of the gatherings and protests and the nighttime atmosphere and violence has led to increasingly difficult circumstances for our businesses and residents,” Durkan said. “The impacts have increased and the safety has decreased.”

Soon after the occupation began, President Trump told Fox News’ Harris Faulkner that he thought Durkan and Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee had surrendered control of the situation.

“I will tell you, if they don’t straighten that situation out, we’re going to straighten it out,” Trump said June 11, in an interview that aired on “Outnumbered Overtime” in its entirety the next day.

In a social media message posted Wednesday, addressed to “Comrades in the struggle,” CHOP organizers declared their “project” concluded, and urged demonstrators to leave by Wednesday night.

Barr Creates Task Force to Stop Violent Anti-Government Extremists
https://www.theepochtimes.com/barr-creates-task-force-to-stop-violent-anti-government-extremists_3403946.html
Attorney General William Barr late Friday said he created a task force dedicated to countering violent anti-government extremists.

“We have evidence that anti-government violent extremists—including those who support the ‘Boogaloo,’ those who self-identify as Antifa, and others—will pose continuing threats of lawlessness,” Barr said in a memo to high-level Department of Justice officials.
Some of the extremists may be fortified by foreign entities, he added, writing, “The Department of Justice will respond to these violent groups in the same way we respond to other organized criminal or terrorist networks—by disrupting their violent activities and ultimately dismantling their capability to threaten the rule of law.”

It’s alittle late….
Doesn’ t that only apply to symbols on federal property? Barr hardly impresses me.
The DOJ doesn’t impress me either. How’s the progress going on with other investigations by the DOJ? Investigating Hillary? Investigating the Russian farce?

Surprise me!

felix: Well I won’t defend Barr. Technically, this force will extend beyond statues, or even riots, but conspiracy to riot, and conspiracy to overthrow or interfere with the US government. Task forces have been used against gangster groups, violent revolutionaries, etc. As usual, the Democrat problem is that they can’t/won’t fight against causes they agree with. They reluctantly went after Al Capone, but after jail, he lived in luxury in Florida. They let most of the Weathermen off the hook.

“Some of the extremists may be fortified by foreign entities, William Barr added”. You mean to acknowledge that GEORGE SOROS, the JEW HATING JEW that STOLE JEWISH PEOPLES’ MONEY before they ended up in the CONCENTRATION DEATH CAMPS”, is supporting the ANTI-American HATE filled communist groups?

Yes, that appears to be true. Soros has a history of supporting Black Lives Matter and other violent groups.

Sue them and take the money and LEAVE!
There is nothing left for them in Seattle.
Seattle is finished. Voters voted for this!

The statue of Lenin has been up since 1995!

The Statue of Lenin, Seattle, is a 16 ft (5 m) bronze statue of Communist revolutionary Vladimir Lenin, by Bulgarian sculptor Emil Venkov. It was completed and put on display in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic in 1988, the year before the Velvet Revolution of 1989. In 1993 the statue was bought by an American, Lewis E. Carpenter, who had found it lying in a scrapyard. He brought it home to Washington state, but died before he could carry out his plans for displaying the Soviet era memento. (Carpenter mortgaged his house to bring it here.)

Since 1995 the statue has been held in trust waiting for a buyer, standing on temporary display for the last 25 years on a prominent street corner in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle. The statue has sparked political controversy, including criticisms for being communist chic and as not taking the historic meaning of Lenin and communism seriously, or for taking it all too seriously, or by comparing the purported acceptance of such a charged political symbol to the removal of Confederate monuments and memorials. Much of the debate ignores the former monument’s private, not public, ownership, and that it is installed on private property, with the public and the government having virtually no say in the matter.

After Carpenter’s death, his family planned to sell the statue to a Fremont foundry to be melted down and repurposed into a new piece. The foundry’s founder, Peter Bevis, sought instead to display the statue in Fremont, and agreed to have the Fremont Chamber of Commerce hold the statue in trust until a buyer was found. The statue was unveiled on June 3, 1995, at the corner of Evanston Avenue North and North 34th Street on private property, one block south of the Fremont Rocket, another artistic Fremont attraction.

(Leave it to the CHEAP LABOR PEOPLE, the Chamber of Commere, to value this statue… It was later moved to another location.)

The owners moved the statue two blocks north to the intersection of Fremont Place North, North 36th Street and Evanston Avenue North in 1996, on a property with commercial retail spaces occupied by a Taco del Mar and a gelato shop at the time. (It’s still for sale) …The Carpenter family continues to seek a buyer for the statue. As of 2015 the asking price was US$250,000, up from the 1996 price of US$150,000 (equivalent to US$240,000 in 2019).

COVID-19 Hype is Needed In Order to Justify “Virtual Debates” Between Biden and Trump –
(Among Other Motives)…

Posted on June 26, 2020 by sundance

In order to support the most important political objectives of the DNC writ large in the 2020 election, COVID-19 hype is essential:

♦Without COVID-19 panic Democrats cannot easily achieve ‘mail-in’ voting; which they desperately need in key battleground states in order to control the outcome.

♦Without COVID-19 panic Democrats cannot shut down rallies and political campaigning efforts of President Trump; which they desperate need to do in key battleground states.

♦Without COVID-19 panic Democrats cannot block the campaign contrast between an energetic President Trump and a physically tenuous, mentally compromised, challenger.

♦Without COVID-19 panic Democrats do not have an excuse for cancelling the DNC convention in Milwaukee; thereby blocking Team Bernie Sanders from visible opposition while protecting candidate gibberish from himself.

♦Without COVID-19 panic Democrats do not have a mechanism to keep voters isolated from each-other; limiting communication and national debate adverse to their interests. COVID-19 panic pushes the national conversation into the digital space where Big Tech controls every element of the conversation.

♦Without COVID-19 panic Democrats cannot keep their Blue state economies easily shut-down and continue to block U.S. economic growth. All thriving economies are against the political interests of Democrats.

♦Without COVID-19 panic Democrats cannot easily keep club candidate Joe Biden sealed in the basement; where the electorate is not exposed to visible signs of his dementia.

♦Without COVID-19 panic it becomes more difficult for Big Tech to censor voices that would outline the fraud and scheme. With COVID-19 panic they have a better method and an excuse.

♦Without COVID-19 panic Democrats cannot advance, influence, or organize their preferred presidential debate format, a ‘virtual presidential debate’ series.

They smell blood and aligning themselves accordingly. for favors.

We just had the mayor of Sierra Vista declare an emergency order for all to wear a mask. The County has had 505 cases according to the CDC and less than 20 deaths reported and a town of 44k has a moron declare an emergency???

Can they even definatively prove the deaths were caused exclusively by the covid19 virus? You keep hearing of the ” resurgence ” and the elevated numbers of infection – they’re doing more testing now so the numbers might actually be in decline from previous months..

I saw where IL explained beervirus deaths and the explanation was that ANYONE that died and had the beervirus test positive was identified as beervirus…sounded like even if they got run over by a car they were classified beervirus death in Cook County IL.

This all seems too ” co-incidental ” – they can’t take down the duly elected President any other way – By hook or by crook should be the rats ” call to arms ” Sleepy, creepy biteme can’t hang with the orange man in anything remotely resembling an ” honest ” debate. He has no policy – he’s making it up as he goes along and grabbing things scrap by measly scrap. So he comes out with his mask half hanging of his face when it won’t protect him even if it were covering his mug..

The Seattle City authority have illegally abandoned a section of Seattle leaving a geographic area and it’s inhabitants to the whim of a number of criminals. This, surely, is not only illegal, it is treason. Whether these criminals were American citizens or foreign invaders is irrelevant. If the Japanese Army had landed in America in 1941 it would have been counted as an invasion. Where is the difference?
