‘Resistance’ Has Become Insurrection

By Michael Walsh, Epcoh Times, June 2, 2020:

Commentary

After nearly four years, we’ve arrived at the end game, the final, violent cry of the “resistance” as it continues to try to overturn the results of the 2016 election and tip the United States of America irreversibly toward anarchy and socialism.

Aided and abetted by the mainstream media and a surprisingly large number of Democrat politicians, the current unrest sweeping the country is being presented as “dissent” and “protest” but is in fact insurrection. It’s time to put it down, hard.

Story continues below advertisement

Although the media would have you believe otherwise, we’ve been down this road as a nation before, and dealt with insurrection decisively. At the very start of the Republic, President George Washington extinguished the “Whiskey Rebellion,” a dispute that began in 1791 over a levy on distilled spirits meant to help retire the Revolutionary War debt, but mushroomed into a tax revolt along the western frontier of Pennsylvania and Kentucky. By 1794, it had become an outright insurrection, and something had to be done.

Supported politically by Alexander Hamilton, Washington himself personally led a militia force against the rebels, and in the teeth of overwhelming force, the rebels—including men who had fought alongside Washington in the Continental Army—surrendered peacefully.

Ironically, the principal military commander of  Washington’s troops was “Light Horse Harry” Lee, who had fought gallantly during the Revolution; his son, Robert E. Lee, would later command the Army of Northern Virginia during the Civil War in a rebellion that meant to fracture the country permanently.

The Whiskey Rebellion never threatened the integrity of the Republic (although it did give birth to a century of moonshining in the Appalachian hills). But in 1805, President Jefferson began to fear that his erstwhile vice president, Aaron Burr, whose term had just ended, was up to no good—as indeed he was.

The man who’d shot and killed Hamilton in a duel now wished to collude with territorial governors to foment rebellion and create a new country in the West. But Jefferson’s options involving the use of federal troops were limited. Nonetheless, Burr was finally arrested on Feb. 19, 1807, and charged with treason, but was acquitted.

In response to the Burr affair, and to give future presidents more flexibility in dealing with rebellions, Congress passed the Insurrection Act of 1807, which reads: “in all cases of insurrection, or obstruction to the laws, either of the United States, or of any individual state or territory, where it is lawful for the President of the United States to call forth the militia for the purpose of suppressing such insurrection, or of causing the laws to be duly executed, it shall be lawful for him to employ, for the same purposes, such part of the land or naval force of the United States, as shall be judged necessary, having first observed all the pre-requisites of the law in that respect.”

The Act has been amended several times and been invoked frequently in times of crisis, most recently during Hurricane Katrina; it also overrides the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, which forbids the use of federal soldiers in domestic policing.

The Act was wielded with gusto by President Ulysses S. Grant during Reconstruction, once to put down the southern Democrats’ paramilitary organization known as the Ku Klux Klan. President Johnson used it to justify deployment of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions to Detroit during the 1967 riots, and deployed federal troops again the following year during the 1968 riots in Washington, D.C. National Guard troops also patrolled the streets of Los Angeles in 1992, during the Rodney King riots.

So Trump’s thinly veiled threat to use the Army should not be seen as an unconstitutional bluff: he has both history and the law on his side.

Title 10, Chapter 13, Section 252 of the U.S. Code clearly states: “Whenever the President considers that unlawful obstructions, combinations, or assemblages, or rebellion against the authority of the United States, make it impracticable to enforce the laws of the United States in any State by the ordinary course of judicial proceedings, he may call into Federal service such of the militia of any State, and use such of the armed forces, as he considers necessary to enforce those laws or to suppress the rebellion.”

Insurrection

That this is an insurrection, there can be no doubt. The suspiciously well-planned and timed “protests” across the country (which are now starting to spread around the world) have nothing to do with poor George Floyd, the ex-con (assault, armed robbery) from Houston who died at the hands of the Minneapolis police department while being taken into custody.

His death is just a pretext; after all, the nation did not explode over the shooting death of Ahmaud Arbery by some white men in Georgia in February; indeed, few even knew about it until the New York Times tried to make it an inflammatory issue in late April.

But Floyd’s unfortunate death—one of the cops has been charged with third-degree murder—created the perfect vortex for the anger of the Black Lives Matter movement (never mind that the statistics do not bear out the allegations that white cops are waging a war on black people) to combine with the layabout thuggery of the “Antifa” movement.

This is the long-planned transformation of Antifa into the modern incarnation of the Klan (which was itself, recall, a resistance movement against the Republican-led federal government), and their unleashing upon the American public. This time, however, their animus is motivated not simply by revanchism, but by a burning hatred for the country, and a grim determination to destroy it—and the neo-Marxist concept of “structural racism” has always been their preferred field of fight.

It’s all coming together: the push for socialism, the hollowing out of democratic institutions at the highest levels of state and federal government, the progressive chic of celebrities and elected politicians who, instead of decrying or even stopping the violence, are actually egging it on.

From the launch of the baseless “Russian collusion” charges, through the sandbagging of Michael Flynn, to the impotent impeachment over… what was it again?… to the unconstitutional lockdowns over the CCP virus, which were designed to destroy Trump’s robust economy, and now to this moment, the goal of the “resistance” is clear: to destroy this presidency once and for all, and usher in a new, green, progressive, egalitarian, totalitarian, socialist USA.

As Barack Obama said in his 2008 speech in Berlin: “This is our moment, this is our time.” He was just a little premature.

Inflection Point

Make no mistake: we are at an inflection point in American history, one that’s already blown past the political and race riots and Hong Kong Flu of 1968 and is barreling toward Fort Sumter, Shiloh, and Antietam. For decades, a number of blue states have been in open defiance of federal law, especially regarding drugs and immigration. They’ve created “sanctuary” cities, and have refused cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), resulting in needless deaths of many Americans. And they don’t care.

Today, from their bastions in New York City, Albany, Los Angeles, Sacramento, Chicago, and Lansing, Mich., they have openly trashed the First Amendment’s guarantees of the free exercise of religion and peaceable assembly in deliberate overreaction to Covid-19, while simultaneously finding a “right” to violent mass protest and property destruction. They are no longer demanding a “redress of grievances”—they see the country as the grievance itself.

Designating the masked cowards of Antifa as terrorists is a good first step. It will give the feds valuable new tools to put them away. But neither should the feds shrink from confrontation. This is no time to play patty-cake with the rainbow coalition of terror now being visited upon us.

The only thing violent thugs understand is overwhelming force, brutally applied—a principle that Grant and William T. Sherman came to understand in their conduct of the Civil War. The “resistance” should remember Sherman’s words to his opponents:

“You people… don’t know what you are doing. This country will be drenched in blood, and God only knows how it will end. It is all folly, madness, a crime against civilization! You people speak so lightly of war; you don’t know what you’re talking about. War is a terrible thing! … they wanted war, and I say let us give them all they want.”

No doubt there are advisers in the White House counseling Trump not to give in to the provocations, that the Left will howl bloody murder the instant their shock troops are bloodied. The media will thunder; Joe Biden will poke his head out from his Delaware basement and bleat on cue; impeachment will be threatened again.

But the time for Trump to bring the hammer down is now. Follow procedure, invoke the law, send in the troops, get on with it, and get it over.  At this point, he’s got nothing to lose, and a country to save.

Agreed. But, on this 3rd of June the looting is abating. Time to lock up the captured looters for avery long time. The Antifada should be hunted down and arrested. They too should serve long sentences. Putting troops on the streets a few days ago, I could not agree more. Today, maybe not.

The movement was described as “a prudent planning measure in response to ongoing support to civil authorities operations” by Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Rath Hoffman.
Infantry troops assigned to a force based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, were among the soldiers moved, along with the 16th Military Police Brigade headquarters.

” … But, on this 3rd of June the looting is abating.”

That’s simply due to the fact that there isn’t much left, that hasn’t been looted and/or burned.

That seems to be my take on it as well. They took everything of value.
No shame. People seem to be proud of looting and burning. If they were burning their own city down, it wouldn’t be so bad but outsiders coming in, stealing, then burning. NYT’s writer fine with it, doesn’t even think it’s violence.

Even those that are burning “their own city down” are NOT burning anything that is theirs.

The destroy, they steal, they burn, they beat, they torture, they rape and murder.

Whether it is their “own city” or someone else’s city … they perpetrate atrocious acts … as long is it ain’t theirs.

No Justice. No Peace.

“they see the country as the grievance itself”

Yes. Who are they if they don’t want to share prosperity in the USA?

At birth, the USA became proof that free people can reject the rule of tyrants, and prosper. That idea was a threat to every tyrant on earth, particularly the European ruling class. The Democrats are part of a “family” of monsters.

The USA couldn’t be forced into submission by an army, so they changed their strategy. They used the combined influences of political power and currency and energy and business and information to harness us as a powerful beast of burden without us realizing what was happening. We have been used to shape the world for tyrants. We were scheduled to die in a fight. Their new world order would include history books that told the story of free people as the biggest mistake in human history and the cause of the biggest bloodbath in human history.

They can’t just murder the USA because the enemies they grew to threaten us and guarantee a fight (war of survival) are their enemies as well (obstacles to global governance). If we die by the enemies they grew for us to fight, and they are not in control of our arsenal, they die at the hands of the same enemies. See Europe. This is why they MUST take the WH.

The Democrat governments are a greater threat than the rioters. They are the obstacle to peace. They will be the focus of attention. The thugs will go down hard once their protection is gone.

A lot of the contents in the commentary above are correct… however I do not think the events of the past week’s violence is the pinnacle of their efforts. I believe this is a trial run to that end, not their final push. They are testing the waters. They wanted to see how the mayors and governors would react to this latest trial run and for the most part I think they saw what they wanted. The mayors holding back law enforcement, refusing National Guard assistance… essentially assisting the efforts of the anarchists, or at the very least not significantly interfering.

ANTIFA and the Demoncrats aren’t the only ones who have learned form this past weeks violence.
Business Owners and Small Town America have also been learning, and what they have learned is that you can’t trust government to do the job for which it has been instituted.
The next time, the ANTIFA “shock troops” are going to be met with pushback in the form of Armed Business Owners and their Hired Guns who will shoot at the first sound of breaking glass.
In the ’92 Riots in Los Angeles Koreatown was spared most of the violence and destruction because the local Korean Business Owners decided that armed force was the only way to protect their businesses and livelihoods. There is a plenitude of news footage showing Armed Business Owners patrolling across the rooftops of the buildings in Koreatown, ready to shoot the first intruders intent on riot and looting.

I remember the 92 LA riots and the Korean shop owners on the roof with their firearms. Ferguson was more recent with oath keepers showing up. We didn’t hear a lot about the locals in Ferguson arming up then as I recall. The problem is that most (not all) of these incidents are happening in areas that are firmly within anti firearm cities/states… it might take a lot more for those antis to come around to the truth and understanding.

It’s going to take an up close and personal encounter with a thug, such as a mugging to convince most of the anti-gun crowd, the majority of whom have gotten all of their understanding of how firearms work from the fantasies produced by Hollywood and the flat out propaganda/untruths spouted by the Gun Grabbers [who invariably have an undisclosed second level agenda].
Personally, I encourage everyone to obtain at least enough familiarity with firearms to be able to safely unload and safety any of the common types of firearms they are likely to encounter. Just this level of familiarity with actual firearms is sufficient to change most of the people afraid of guns to at least neutral on the subject.

Many business owners have been intimidated by recent court cases from defending their property ; the leftist have also neutered and intimidated the police that will only encourage and embolden the anarchists who are looking for any racial pretext to riot and loot ; this is only beginning but it’s clear how it will end as they push their luck too far

After nearly four years, we’ve arrived at the end game, the final, violent cry of the “resistance” as it continues to try to overturn the results of the 2016 election and tip the United States of America irreversibly toward anarchy and socialism.

Along with their fake news media friends running cover as they always do, the Democrat party is officially the enemy of this country and enablers of Antifa and BLM domestic terrorism.

After the Ferguson and Baltimore riots Obama and Holder moved to neuter the local police, basically nationalize them, and institute a series of toothless reforms ensuring a permanent stand down posture supported by Black Police Chiefs and mayors who support BLM, or white leftist police chiefs and mayors who may be part of Antifa. We have seen the stand down posture early on in Portland and Berkeley.

This does not bode well, particularly in Blue states and cities.

Antifa is obviously well organized and supported, most likely by Soros or Soros front groups. BLM may be getting it’s money from Muslim Brotherhood fronted groups.

The enemy is right here, right now.

As Trump slowly cleans out the deep state Obama holdovers, I would hope he has already started a badly needed counter terrorism operation to identify and arrest the leaders on the ground of both groups.

Those pallets of bricks in the various cities didn’t just appear by accident.

I can only imagine what they are going to try on November 3rd.

Soros needs to have his funds seized and an international dragnet set up to catch him and his sons. Mossad perhaps, can help.

These astroturf riots and looting have about as much to do with George Floyd as the Benghazi attack had to do with some stupid anti Muslim video.

I think the rioting and arson is letting up, but it seems only because the rioters have run out of matches. No doubt they’ll be back, especially if Trump wins the election, but that’s not a reason to not vote for him. Apparently mayor Lightfoot assessing the damage and essentially pleading with retailers such as Walmart not to abandon Chicago. I’m not sure retailers are going to setup shop again in places where rioters looted their stores and possibly set them on fire. It wouldn’t be a good business decision. Actually the pandemic got people used to working remotely so people won’t put up with the inconvenience, never mind the danger of commutes into places they perceive as hazardous.
