Kayleigh McEnany responds to reports she voted by mail 11 times: Trump is not against absentee ballots

Story continues below advertisementReacting to a Tampa Bay Times report that she had mailed in 11 ballots over the course of a decade, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany reasserted Thursday that she is entitled to mail-in voting and defended President Trump’s stance on the issue.
Appearing on America’s Newsroom” with hosts Ed Henry and Sandra Smith, McEnany explained that the president had been “very clear” on the issue.
“Every American is entitled to vote the way that I did,” she assured. “If you are someone who is working out of state but your domicile is in a different state, you are absolutely entitled to request an absentee ballot and to cast your ballot by mail. I am entitled to that. The average voter is entitled to that.”
“The president has no qualms with that,” McEnany said. “He’s for absentee voting for a reason.”
According to McEnany, what the president is “not for” is “mass mail-in voting” that the administration contends Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi supports.
Last week, Pelosi touted a $3.6 billion vote-by-mail proposal – which she rechristened “Voting at Home” during an appearance on MSNBC’s “The Last Word.”
Pelosi stressed that the plan was aimed at making voting more convenient and safe for Americans amid the coronavirus pandemic, allowing them to participate in elections from home without exposing themselves to the risk of contracting the virus.
The president, however, continues to claim that mail-in voting is particularly susceptible to fraud, casting it as a lawless exercise where ballots are stolen from mailboxes, voter signatures are routinely forged, and ballots themselves are illegally printed.
“There is NO WAY (ZERO!) that Mail-In Ballots will be anything less than substantially fraudulent…” he tweeted Tuesday. “This will be a Rigged Election. No way!”

Pennsylvania Officials Admit Duplicate Ballots Were Mailed Out to Voters

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, officials have admitted that duplicate ballots were mailed out to registered voters, though they are not sure how many.
In a conference call with reporters, Dave Voye, who manages the division that’s had to process a massive influx of vote-by-mail applications and ballots as voters look for an alternative to in-person voting amid COVID-19, said the department started to notice there was a problem with duplicate ballots at the end of April.
Several voters told the Post-Gazette this month that they had applied for a mail-in or absentee ballot and received more than one in the mail. The county released a statement on the issue Thursday, and said it was the result of a bug in the state’s voter registration system.

The duplicate mail-in ballot issues come as Allegheny County officials have reached a settlement with the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) to clean up its voter rolls, which reportedly include
1,600 dead people,
close t0 7,500 voter registrations flagged as duplicates,
1,523 registered voters who claim to be 100-years-old and over, and
1,178 registered voters who are missing dates of birth.
Still ongoing is Judicial Watch’s lawsuit against the state of Pennsylvania for reportedly having more than 800,000 inactive voters on its voter rolls.
