‘I was aware’: Biden admits he knew about FBI’s Flynn investigation moments after denial

Story continues below advertisementAfter first denying that he knew anything about the FBI investigation into retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, Joe Biden corrected himself when pressed during a Tuesday morning interview.
He changed course after host George Stephanopoulos noted his presence at a high-profile Oval Office meeting in the final days of the Obama administration, during which officials discussed intercepted contacts between Flynn and a Russian envoy. Disclosures about that meeting have prompted scrutiny over the former vice president’s role in the eventual ouster of President Trump’s first national security adviser.
Biden audibly scoffed on ABC’s Good Morning America as Stephanopoulos asked what the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee knew about an early 2017 investigation into Flynn and whether there was anything improper done by the Obama administration.
“I know nothing about those moves to investigate Michael Flynn,” Biden said. “This is all about diversion. This is a game this guy plays all the time. The country is in crisis. … He should stop trying to always divert attention from the real concerns of the American people.”
But Stephanopoulos followed up, noting that Biden was reported to be in attendance at a Jan. 5, 2017, meeting where he and former President Barack Obama “were briefed” on the FBI’s plan to interview Flynn about his conversation with then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the presidential transition period.
“I thought you asked me whether or not I had anything to do with him being prosecuted,” Biden replied, after fidgeting with his earpiece. “I was aware that there was, that they asked for an investigation, but that’s all I know about it.”
The Jan. 5 meeting is known to have focused on the Flynn tapes, but it is not known whether officials discussed the FBI’s plan to question Flynn as Stephanopoulos suggested.
Former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates told Robert Mueller’s special counsel team she first learned of the Flynn recordings from Obama himself following a White House meeting about the intelligence community assessment attended by Yates, Biden, former FBI Director James Comey, then-CIA Director John Brennan, then-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, then-national security adviser Susan Rice, and others. Obama asked Yates and Comey to stay behind with Rice and Biden when the meeting concluded.

LIAR: ‘I was aware’ Interesting question. Maybe Biden forgot completely what he just said, dementia does that to people. So to paraphrase:
Position 1: “I know nothing about the moves to investigate Michael Flynn”
Position 2: I was briefed about the FBI’s plan to interview Flynn
Biden may not have remembered what he had just said.

With all that is going on as related to the political motivations of our FBI, as it involved Flynn and the fraudulent Russian probe which was intended to unseat Trump, all of of which was so actively and wrongfully pursued by the media and Democratic party functionaries in Congress, we now most likely will be dealing with a Democratic candidate for the job of POTUS who is clearly entering some stage of senility (Dementia or Alzheimer’s). This country is on the verge of bankruptcy; yet the policies of the Democratic Party intend to hand out money that we do not have and to buy votes by using whatever taxpayer money enables them to hand out money to non-citizens, which strikes me as clearly inappropriate and unjustified. As we presently fight to save this country from the plaque of the virus, the democrats are putting before us a choice of a candidate with serious mental issues, who has shown himself to be a lover of China, as is his kid. Although you can accuse me of being paranoid, I believe that keeping secret the virus from us while allowing people from around the world to travel to and return with the virus was somehow intended by the Chinese Communist Party to enable them to take steps towards world domination; since we all know China intends to unseat us as a military and economic power, and we all should know that Biden and his party would not know how to be tough with that country, all of which leaves me frustrated with our government and those within the system known as the “swamp.” I can only hope that the reasonable citizens of this country will see through the folly of the false “Trump Syndrome,” which is the banner and policy of the Democratic Party and liberal media, and overwhelmingly reelect Trump as he is the only candidate with “smarts” to save us from those fools.
