Mayor Eric Garcetti orders curfew for Los Angeles, neighboring cities after protesters loot stores, vandalize cars

LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Mayor Eric Garcetti extended a curfew to all of Los Angeles after more than 500 people were arrested and five police officers were hurt overnight Friday amid violent protests over the death of George Floyd.
The curfew requires everyone within the city of Los Angeles to stay indoors starting at 8 p.m. Saturday until 5:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.
An Emergency Alert was sent around 7 p.m. declaring the curfew. According to the alert, “traveling to and from work, seeking or giving emergency care, and emergency responders are exempt.” More information could be found here.
The mayor earlier announced a curfew for the downtown area between the 110 Freeway on the west, Alameda on the east, and the 10 Freeway on the south, and 101 Freeway on the north, the mayor said on Twitter.
We will always protect free speech and Angelenos’ right to live without fear of violence or vandalism. To increase safety for demonstrators, law enforcement and all citizens of Los Angeles, we are putting a curfew in place from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Following the mayor’s announcement, the cities of West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Pasadena and Beverly Hills also enacted a curfew for 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. due to the protests. The Los Angeles Police Department has mobilized its entire department due to the ongoing protests in Downtown Los Angeles and the Fairfax District. Mayor Garcetti also announced all coronavirus testing centers are closed in Los Angeles due to safety concerns amid Saturday’s protests.
Los Angeles was one of several cities across the U.S. where demonstrators again took to the streets to express outrage over the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

I heard a Negro college professor on the radio today claiming all efforts to reform the LAPD have failed and now the only opportunity for justice is to cut the LAPD budget by half and call that “community funding” to be spread around in the ghetto to fund drug habits and criminal careers.
But, sadly, after this chimp-mode weekend gone wild, LE budgets across the country are going to have to double or triple or more, to hire more police and detectives, track them all down and convict and sentence them to brand new prisons that will also need to be built.
One Negro TV reporter said she talked to one looter in Santa Monica today, and he told her that, yes, he is protesting about the dead drunk in Minnesota, but this is how to do it best, because when you hit them in the pocket that’s the best way to send a message.

I have seen white people doing the same thing. Skin color doesn’t determine how you think. It’s a MINDSET and not limited to a SKIN COLOR.
If you cannot identify and define the enemy, you can not defeat it.
I’d like to see more Allan West’s and Dr. Ben Carson’s out there.
I don’t subscribe to identity politics determining a world view.

Too bad that the racist stereotypes are the actual images on TV.
And that the rule is so prevalent and the exceptions are just that.
And that so many young white people have been duped into siding with criminals against their own future and against their own country.
And it’s far beyond too bad that today we’re watching the end of opportunity in the United States of America. Opportunity for freedom, for individuality, for happiness, for success, and for a life.
The lamps are going out all across America; we shall not see them lit again in our lifetime.

I remember long, long ago there was a riot in Huntington Beach and it was nearly all caused by white caucasian men. Still-in-all no one was killed and I don’t think anyone was even injured much less beaten unconscious.

SANTA MONICA LOOTING
The Santa Monica police had 24-hour notice to take precautionary measures against looting yet they did not secure the most vulnerable areas such as the Santa Monica Mall and the Promenade. Smart store owners removed their valuables on Saturday. TV newscasters were filming stores being looted (whites and blacks) with no police in sight, they even asked after filming for an hour where are the police? Apparently, they were watching the peaceful marchers on Ocean Ave and allowed the looters who were two minutes away to destroy our city. After the Vans store was completely looted (for the second time) the police show up, really. Brave individuals blocked the store entrances to prevent looting because there were no police present. It appears the police chief (who has an outrageous salary) was completely unprepared and incompetent. I give the police dept. a F, they should change Serve and Protect to Serve and Hide.

All of this happened in my neighborhood, right down the street from me. Moron Garcetti could have called the national guard 8 hours earlier and there wouldn’t have been the looting and vandalism. Instead he waited until after the damage was done. Sick of this tool and Newsom.

I recall too well the Rodney King riots that finally ended when they got to Korea Town and were faced by a bunch of very well armed Koreans determined not to allow their businesses and homes to be burned and looted. It worked quite well. Bush dispatched the Marines from Pendleton and our neighborhood was reassured when Marine half-tracks were parked on Beverly and Wilshire.
