Poll: 52% of Parents View Homeschooling More Favorably Since Coronavirus School Closures

Destroying far left public education may be the great silver lining of the corona panic. The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in more parents being open to the idea of home schooling for their children. Home schooling is a much better option for children, given how American schools have turned into left-wing cesspools.

Poll: 52% of Parents View Homeschooling More Favorably Since Coronavirus School Closures

By Breitbart, May 4, 2020

poll released April 21 by a school choice advocacy nonprofit found that since the coronavirus outbreak has caused many brick-and-mortar school closures, 52 percent of parents have a more favorable opinion of homeschooling.

EdChoice, a national organization that advocates for state-based school choice programs, joined with technology company Morning Consult to survey American K-12 parents on the topic of how the coronavirus crisis has affected them and their children, particularly regarding education:

Because many more American parents are engaged in at-home schooling with their children, the survey asked, “How have your opinions on homeschooling changed as a result of the coronavirus?”

Among parents participating in the poll, 52 percent said their view of homeschooling was “more favorable,” with 28 percent labeling their opinion as “much more favorable,” and 24 percent stating their view was “somewhat more favorable.”

Of those parents who responded with a “less favorable” opinion of homeschooling, 18 percent said their view was “somewhat less favorable” and 8 percent said it was “much less favorable,” while 22 percent either did not know their view or had no opinion.

When parents were asked “how prepared” they felt to facilitate their children’s online learning, 71 percent said they felt prepared, with 38 percent stating they felt “very prepared” and 33 percent responding they felt “somewhat prepared.”

Among the parents, 14 percent replied they felt “not that prepared,” and 7 percent said they were “not at all prepared,” while 8 percent had no opinion.

According to the survey, 54 percent of parents are concerned about their child missing schoolwork during the closures, with 33 percent “very concerned” and 21 percent “somewhat concerned.”

Additionally, 43 percent of parents said they were “very concerned” about their child “missing instruction time,” and 26 percent said they were “somewhat concerned.”

I have 3 kids 2 years apart 16 on down. The Max homework takes them 3 -4 hours a day tops. The average is 2 hours a day. This includes the videos they have to watch. I ask them what is the difference here and in school? They said they have time to watch a lot more videos in school.

It is amazing we still have public schools. We will never be an enlightened society until that is eliminated. Charter schools, competing with each other, kicking out kids who don’t want to be there and putting those into military schools. Yeah…that is an enlightened society.

I am curious. Who chooses the material to be taught?

Is your ‘closed’ local public school STILL selecting the format and homework?
Does it include the usual “In Class” mandatory leftist indoctrination materials?
Tranny story hour video’s and the like.

Math – Common Core or Common sense?
Civics – Patriotic lessons or white shaming diatribes?
History – Patriotic lessons or white shaming diatribes?
Religion – Is Islam taught to the exclusion of Christianity?

If you do, how does it pass the leftist college accreditation smell test?

All the students have chrome books we had to pay an amount for. Then the teachers post homework and lessons that the kids then do and re-submit. My point was it’s only 2 hours a day. So what did my kids do for the other 6 hours while in school? Turns out not much.

My school district does have some common core but we mainly don’t focus on that anymore like we did a few years ago. All algebra , trig and geometry now.

This may answer most of your questions on content.
Here’s a home schooling vendor – Abeka.
https://www.abeka.com/homeschool/
This will show you the content. We used some of their stuff and other vendors for other subjects. For example in K-4 we used Saxon Math for the computational aspect in parallel to Singapore Math for mental math and variables, then switched to a different vendor for Algebra Geometry and Calc.

As you become more familiar with curriculums, research them and attend vendor meetings, they have their strengths and weaknesses. You can easily research them on the web for reviews and discuss them with other home schooling parents. ALL the home schooling curriculums beat Common Core and public school offerings. It allows the student to operate at their own pace and they get the individual attention they deserve without problematic behavioral interruptions or held back to a slower pace.

Students also develop as individuals rather than brainwashed with endless group think and group work. It used to be that through K-8 it was always individual work and some group work in 9-12 for science labs where a group did the individual experiments but individual report write ups were required. Today from K-12, it’s ALL group work and group think. They don’t students to be individuals or able to think on their own. Kids HATE it because there are always lazy loafers who want OTHERS to do their work. So who ever cares the most about their grade winds up doing their work.

If you have kids it is well worth looking into. Other sources for good information are –

My wife and I fortunately are able to work from home 100%.

They do their chores, read, we bought them all cursive books and they are practicing that then the rest of the day and night is theirs. Typically my son is working out in our basement with his football buddies or out in the back yard doing drills. When I am done with work we are building a massive 10 cu yd elevated garden and 500 sq ft deck
My middle daughter works out and runs a lot plus cooks with me when I am making our specialty dinners and cooks with my wife.

My youngest daughter who is litterally an artist practices her art, practices her ukale, practices lassoing our English lab with a real lasso and generally pesters us relentlessly for pet birds. Even got dressed up and put on a 20 slide PowerPoint presentation. She is 11 and persistent.

Being able to spend so much time together has been a major blessing.

SCHOOL CHOICE needs to be available to ALL tax payers!
Why should tax payers be forced to have their tax dollars fund subpar education and park their kids there?

Other have choice – Abortions are a CHOICE. Being an LBGTQ+ is a “lifestyle choice”. So why isn’t EDUCATION a CHOICE when you are forced to pay for it with tax dollars?

Parents choose the curriculum they want. No state requires that a homeschool program, curriculum, or diploma be accredited. Smart home schoolers go with an accredited curriculum to avoid problems. or they can test out. The vendor is in the open on whether or not they are accredited.

Christian schools are accedited by ACSI (Association of Christian Schools Inernational). This pdf explains how private schools are accredited – https://www2.ed.gov/admins/comm/choice/regprivschl/regprivschl.pdf

The options of how you homeschool have exploded and are endless! Online, part online and textbook, homeschooling groups where they share subject matter expertise in addtion to the textbook curriculum and there are home schooling leagues. Many have their own sports and after school acivites in addition to competitions against other home schooling leagues, private schools and public schools! You might be shocked at how retired teachers and retired professionals LOVE to be guest speakers for home schoolers or aid it teaching.

There are tons of curriculums to chose from! Most are even scripted with help available if a parent needs it. Homeschoolers typically score higher on standardized tests. Home schoolers and conservative private schools are far more knowledgeable than their public school counter parts or the private liberal school counterparts. We can personally attest to that with scholarship money based on MERIT when our kids graduated from high school. and went onto to universities.

If you want a secular home schooling curriculum that is out there too. A dirty secret is that many colleges/universities like home schooled kids. The Naval Academy and West Point LOVE them too because they get knowledgeable, well rounded decent kids with good values etc..

Any home schooling parent KNOWS to prep their kids before taking the SAT or ACT test (which is a waste of time) to do the subjective essay in politically correct victm mode. They just laugh at it. ACT is a test that tests you on what you leaned in high school – that’s what high school TRANSCRIPTS are for! The SAT tests APTITUDE! I could go on and on about this but I will end it here. We’re done with K-12!

The public school system was taken over by malevolent (Marxist) academics who turned a tool of education and prosperity into an implement of destruction that targets the most innocent and vulnerable citizens. The academic elites are the architects of our slow ruin and eventual death. They should meet the worst possible end.

Good news in more ways than one!!!!
Keep them OUT of the public school system!!!!

I will have more buyers for my home schooling material. I have tons of it! We had them go to a conservative Christian school during the year and home schooled them in the summer. Home schooling families are the salt of the earth. Hands down, they are more “socially adjusted” than any public school kids and have a solid foundation in knowledge instead of junk science, propaganda and out right garbage. Home schooling parents are are wonderful people! Don’t let the media fool you into believing they are murderers etc.. or their kids are psychotic hermits or socially awkward. Its simply not true!

It also builds a stronger bond between the parents and their children rather than a bunch of godless liberals that could care less about your kids. That is another reason why the establishment hates it. They want government, in any form, to replace parents. All must be equally dumbed down. Renegades need to be ridiculed or feared into submission.

Democrats are made up of a disgusting and dangerous human race, to which the fates of other people are absolutely unimportant if they cannot take advantage of them.

To benefit from others, Democrats – like all groups based on nepotism and dictatorship – try to breed useful idiots, slaves and cannon fodder.
Focused on their ideas, hedonism, lust for power, they have developed a coordinate system that suits them – in this they wallow like pigs in the mud.

Well – not everyone wants to wallow in the DEMOCRATS mud.
Not everyone is an idiot and wants to wake up echoed as a slave and cannon fodder in DEMOCRATS coordinates.

The attempt to impose this coordinate system on people who think and feel different will fail – like all similar attempts in human history have failed.

May God punish the Democrats and all other bigoted and hypocritical people who spread evil and sin against humanity.

Home schooling was the
crowning achievement of our married life, aside from having two great kids! The support system was and is magnificent. Now in their successful early 30’s with their own families, our only regret was in not wresting them from the state even earlier.
