California may be waking up after decades of Leftist rule. The GOP must start fielding strong candidates all over the state of California, to take advantage of this growing trend.

Republican ‘Superstar’ Melissa Melendez Wins California State Senate Seat

By Daily Wire, May 15, 2020

On Tuesday, Republican “superstar” Melissa Melendez won a special election to fill a state Senate seat in Southern California, earning 56% of the vote and defeating Democratic challenger Elizabeth Romero, a Riverside County Board of Education member.

The special election for the 28th District “was called to fill out the remainder of the term of Republican State Sen. Jeff Stone, who resigned earlier this year to become regional director of the U.S. Department of Labor,” according to Newsmax. “Melendez’s winning percentage was four percentage points above that of Stone in his last trip to the polls.”

“Initial results are in for SD28,” Melendez, a U.S. Navy veteran and mother of five, posted Wednesday to Twitter. “Thank you everyone for your support and BIG thanks to my husband for all his help and support throughout this campaign!”

California State GOP Chairman Jim Brulte told Newsmax Melendez “was and is a superstar public servant,” adding, “She will serve her constituents well.”

As noted by the news site, the mother of five is a small business owner and was “elected to the Lake Elsinore City Council and eventually became mayor. Before her election to the senate Tuesday, Melendez served four terms in the state Assembly.” The Republican also “flew on covert missions in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm and became fluent in Russian.”

On the same day as Melendez’s big win, Republican Mike Garcia defeated Democrat Christy Smith in a special election for California’s 25th congressional district, formerly a position served by disgraced Democratic Congresswoman Katie Hill, who resigned in November.

As noted by The Daily Wire, Garcia’s win marked “the first time that the Republican Party has flipped a U.S. House seat in California in more than two decades.”

Good to see the Latin population of California is voting for and producing Republican politicians.

I would say “conservative” instead of “Republican”. Considering what we are seeing with pigs running to the trough to pilfer the treasury right now there is little difference between dems and repubs. Trump is printing the money like crazy without looking down the road the dollar is losing value.

TRUMP IS NOT PRINTING MONEY. THE DEMOCRATS ARE! Look at this next Bill by Nancy Pelosi. DEMOCRATS ARE THE INSANE ONES!

Give some thought to this. This is legislation, which would have to be passed by both Houses of Congress. Then, for it to take effect, the president must sign said legislation. If, it is vetoed, a 2/3 majority is required to override the veto.

So, who is printing the money? Where does “the buck stop”?

Unless it is vetoed, and said veto is overridden, where does the fault lie?

The fault would then lie with congress. If it isn’t vetoed, the fault would lie with the president.

Thank the Supreme Court for taking away line item veto!
We had it for a brief time in 1996 than it was overturned so we are stuck with pork and other compromises…

Just veto it. It’s three trillion dollars. That’s almost enough to have given every U.S. citizen Ten Thousand U.S. Dollars CASH. Now they’ve blown through that … they want another three trillion?

The Democrats in Sacramento screwed up big time by shutting down the economy, allowing Corona-infected into the state, and not quarantining the infected on those huge hospital ships. Breaking the budget seems like a nearly intractable problem.

All this really means is that the Dem0rats will have to rely more on the graveyard and non-citizen vote in subsequent elections

Even the new US citezens from South America are now voting for Trump. Who wants to come into the US and live under a corrupt government when you just ran away from one ? Trump is the choice that guarantees freedom from socialists. Long live freedom.

I agree, there are only SIX House reps who AREN’T dem0rats and I expect that number to bottom out over the next decade. In the last f’ing US senatorial election we have the choice of any senator — as long as they were Dem0rats which is vaguely reminiscent of voting in the USSR, where you could vote for anyone as long as they were a member of the Communist party. This f’ing state is D_O_N_E.

Since I don’t read the local papers (here in SoCal/Riverside County) and don’t watch the local news, I never what’s going on – even in my own backyard! But Melendez had a great ad campaign and I saw her name constantly on billboards throughout the area and for a very long time! But never in all the ads did I see a party affiliation – maybe that’s the way to go in CA! But in the voters’ guide, she did cop to “leaning Republican,” which I thought was a strange way to indicate party affiliation! Whatever. I voted for her – and now I’m delighted to know that she won!! YEA! And now that Mike Garcia won another special election for a Congressional seat from CA, maybe CA is on a GOP roll?
