• The church sued after its pastor Kevin Wilson was criminally cited for holding a Palm Sunday service in violation of the state’s coronavirus lockdown orders
• Wilson faced a $2,500 fine and possible jail time after he was found by police holding the service for 16 people inside a sanctuary that could hold about 300
• Despite congregants at the service being widely separated, police still issued the summons to Wilson, who responded with the lawsuit
• The pastor is suing for discrimination against the church and violation of the first amendment. 
• Attorney General Bill Barr said last month that the DOJ, in some cases, would side with citizens and businesses suing states over coronavirus lockdown orders

The Justice Department is siding with a Virginia church suing Gov. Ralph Northam after police threatened a pastor with jail time or a $2,500 fine for violating the state’s coronavirus lockdown restrictions by holding a 16-person church service on Palm Sunday.

The DOJ decision came after police in protective garb served a summons to Kevin Wilson, the pastor of Lighthouse Fellowship Church on Chincoteague Island, for holding the service on April 5 with 16 people spaced far apart from one another in a church that could fit 293 people. State officials said Wilson and the church violated the Virginia Constitution by breaking state-imposed social distancing restrictions intended to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

“The Commonwealth of Virginia has offered no good reason for refusing to trust congregants who promise to use care in worship in the same way it trusts accountants, lawyers, and other workers to do the same,” the DOJ said in a statement of interest obtained by Fox News on Sunday.

Mat Staver, the chairman and founder of Liberty Counsel, representing the pastor, accused Northam, a Democrat, of discriminating against the church and violating the First Amendment.

“As important as it is that we stay safe during these challenging times, it is also important for states to remember that we do not abandon all of our freedoms in times of emergency,” Matthew Schneider, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan, said in a statement. “Unlawful discrimination against people who exercise their right to religion violates the First Amendment, whether we are in a pandemic or not.”

Across the country, law enforcement has been cracking down on religious congregations, threatening heavy summons and fines for deliberately breaking state rules. Churches have been urged to switch to virtual services in lieu of in-person sermons, but Wilson’s church claimed the Lighthouse Fellowship did not have the capacity to do that and many parishioners didn’t have access to the Internet.

Many Americans have started to grow restless with state lockdown restrictions, which have urged people not to go out unless of an emergency, or to obtain necessities such as groceries or medication. In addition, many businesses have suffered since they were forced to close.

Attorney General Bill Barr said in an interview last month that the DOJ, in some cases, would side with citizens and businesses suing states over coronavirus lockdown orders.

“People bring those lawsuits, we’ll take a look at it at that time, and if we think it’s, you know, justified, we would take a position. That’s what we’re doing now. We, you know, we’re looking carefully at a number of these rules that are being put into place,” Barr told Hugh Hewitt on April 21.

I wonder why Northam isn’t going after mosques during Ramadan? Because selective enforcement of the law is called persecution. I’ll bet he’s the muslums’ butt boy for a considerable price.

The various groups of special interest “strange bedfellow” people who claim special rights over others have common cause in the advancement of tyranny over all the people on earth. Democrats, Muslims, LGBTQ whatever, the pro-death groups, extreme nature worshipers, the forced migration crowd, etc., will all unite to bring on the most tyrannical time in all of human history. It’s at the door. I should add to that group the far left fake Christians who substitute social justice activism for taking the truth of God’s generous gift of salvation to every people on earth.

I had in mind a broader application of the far Left version of apostate Christianity that just that. Believe it or not I know some much finer Christians than I who purport to have Muslims in their circle of friends that they really enjoy, and to whom they are having opportunities to minister truth. I even know a few Muslims myself in the medical profession who, over a long period of time, were finally one over to Christ through the ministry of their peers who were Christian. At that point they become a little fearful of what can happen to them after conversion just like Muslim background believers all over the world. You can still be retaliated against in America.

I was referring to the people I know in my own family that tell me I am mean spirited, and need to submit to the tyranny of the LGBTers, one of which is in my family. I was allowed to be bullied and persecuted by this utterly self centered tyrant who found a belief system, the LGBT crowd, in which there is a belief that other people have to submit their rights to theirs. Everything will be fine if you only submit. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?

We have some jointly owned commercial property that needs to be sold that has forced me into cooperation with the other female tyrants in my family, the LGBT’er being the one in charge. All but one call themselves “Christian.” The only one I can stand doesn’t believe. I am not going to hold my breath until that property sells in case God is holding off His help until there is repentance of sin. I don’t hate people but refuse to say that God sanctions homosexual marriage. It seems to me that the real focus of this cult is that they have an unspoken desire to force Christians to say that God approves of homosexuality. Adulterers know in their heart that they need to forsake their sin. So do thieves, murderers, and everyone else. Only the LGBT’ers consider themselves as having a special exemption. That is a dangerous idea for those in bondage to this particular sin.

We all know about the far Left version of Christianity which makes a whopping amount of money cooperating with the globalists to bring “refugees” to the West, at taxpayer expense. They aren’t even worth mentioning.

I do get your point. I believe a lot of the persecution the remnant of Bible believing Christians will see in the last days will come from left wing false converts in the vein of Pope Francis, who isn’t a Christian at all. They will be the ones who tell you that you should give up your firearms, go along with anything the government says, and be happy for your property taxes to go through the roof as you pay to educate the children of the people they are bringing here to put on welfare or take your jobs.

There are still Democrats who DEMAND OUR government to HONOR and OBEY OUR Constitution, which IS the SUPREME LAW of the LAND of America. These LAWLESS TYRANTS must be removed by being ARRESTED, CHARGED, PROSECUTED and JUDGED according to OUR Constitutional LAWS, which apply to EVERY American and EVERY NON-American who is within OUR American borders.

We don’t always get a warning when a tragedy is about to strike, but sometimes there is one we don’t recognize at the beginning. We saw videos of government agents in Wuhan dressed in protective gear, hauling screaming people away to a very quickly built hospital, and then there was silence about it. What was going on? Okay, they did not build a hospital, but a containment center. If you got sick, you and your living companions were hauled off until you finally died or recovered, but we in the West mostly ignored the problem. The U.S. can’t legally take such actions. We have a Constitution that forbids such activities, but governors and mayors have assumed they could do this anyway, and have a fait accompli. So, did they not expect some pushback?
We have freedom of Assembly. We have religious freedom that is not regulated by the government. As Americans, we have the freedom to risk our lives as well. So, if I want to walk a tightrope across the Grand Canyon, half of America will watch on TV, and some may shake their head, but the police won’t interfere. But let a guy paddleboard alone, and the police will chase him down by boat and arrest him.
And as strange as it all is, mayors have asked the police to release prisoners arrested for crimes, to make room for people who don’t wear a mask or physically distance themselves, or even wander out of their homes.
