Well there you go, I predicted that he would do it with and Executive Order. This is a regulation issue, not an issue of laws. So the Executive Branch can handle it through the FCC and other bodies. The House will try to block it, and the Senate will block the House.
Fait accompli, c’est ca, c’est tout, c’est Fini! [It’s a done deal, that’s it, that’s all!]

Once again the left has painted themselves into a corner and shot themselves in the foot. Whatever comes of this it’s they that have brought this upon themselves by their own actions. Now we have to endure yet another tidal wave of liberal tears. Sometimes I just wish they would put themselves out of their misery.

Mega-social media companies such as Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and Google are either:

A “platform” that allows all opinions and is protected by the 1st Amendment. Like Ma Bell in the 1950s, they couldn’t refuse to hook up a phone for you because they didn’t like your politics in your phone conversations,

or

A for profit private business that can do as they please and ban anyone they want, just like any other publishing house. Then they also can be sued for slander and libel for any content.

They can’t have it both ways.

Public accommodation = the only legal solution this side of defeating the Left, civil war, or the return of Jesus.

Public accommodation = the law. It was invented by the Left, and it has a long history of case law. The only exceptions are for Libtards infringing on the rights of businesses providing personal services when the owners of said business are Christian or Mormon.

The First Amendment will fail … until or unless a sea change comes in the judiciary … because Free Speech only applies to government infringement – and this has been sufficiently confused by Lefty Litigation that the government can infringe on political speech – and normal speech – and inconvenient facts that happen to be true, but nothing else.

Anti-Trust will not work. They broke up Standard Oil … how did that stop the Rockefellers or their schemes? They broke up Ma Bell. How did that work out? … Did you get your reparations from the Railroad Robber Barons? …

Social Media Tech Giants are as authentic ‘start up businesses’ as ‘boy bands’ are authentic spontaneous musical artists … to restate …

… Google is as much a capitalist business enterprise as Milli Vanilli are musicians. (With apologies to Milli Vanilli – at least the actors hired for the job knew how to play their instruments)

As for ‘alternative’ platforms – never mind such platforms would be echo chambers where a small cadre just talk to each other –

… This does not seem to account for the fact that WE support the Tech Giants whether we want to or not. They operate the internet and dominate the internet. They control access to advertising – and their allies in the Lefty NGOs are ready to destroy advertisers who venture into the waters.

The Tech Giants have a base income from government contracts – for reasons that should be obvious – but apparently are not – in addition to the revenue stream from advertising and ecommerce.

Access to this income cannot be replaced by an ‘alternative’ any more than you can replace a rail line with another rail line – When the Rail Road you want to compete with Controls the Government Who Can Deny You Permission to Build the Line. … It’s not the technical problem per se at issue – because anyone can build an ‘alternative’ platform from scratch … but if you don’t use the internet as your ‘rail road’ … you will have to have a vast amount of cash – and guess who controls that?

All these “social media” platforms have, from their beginning, been in the inner circle of information gathering of the CIA, NSA and that is why they fight against conservatives as, nobody in government wants what the founders wanted, “Limited Government” and Google, FB, Twitter will do their best to keep government as big as possible to stay on the good side of Deep State.

FB abd Google have both seen their shares drop. FB nearly 10%. The most important message from Trump is his EO will encourage competitors to quickly emerge and compete for their customer base. The big tech social media companies do not appear to be immune from competition. They have much to fear.
