South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem announces statewide hydroxychloroquine trial to formally test its effectiveness against COVID-19
‘We’re going to let the science, facts and data drive our decision-making’

Story continues below advertisementSouth Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) announced plans to launch a statewide trial Monday to formally test the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine — the anti-malaria drug touted by President Trump — against the novel coronavirus.
The action makes South Dakota the first state in the nation to implement a trial to test the drug’s effectiveness in treating and preventing COVID-19.
In order to collect data about the potential treatment, doctors in the state have been instructed to prescribe the drug, along with the antibiotic azithromycin, to willing COVID-19 patients who desire to be a part of the trial.
“From Day One, I’ve said we’re going to let the science, facts and data drive our decision-making in South Dakota,” Noem said in a statement, according to Fox News.
Noem said that she has been in cooperation with the federal government in preparation for the trial.
“I made direct requests to President Trump and Vice President Pence to supply us with enough hydroxychloroquine so that it could be made available for every hospitalized person the state may have, as well as those for health care workers on the frontlines and those in the most vulnerable populations,” Noem said.
“Today, I’m pleased to report we have received the initial doses we need,” she added.
President Trump has been optimistic about hydroxychloroquine since three separate studies showed it to be a potentially effective at treating and preventing the disease. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration fast-tracked the drug for the treatment of COVID-19 in late March.
Health experts such as Dr. Anthony Fauci have tempered the president’s optimism, saying that proof of the drug’s effectiveness is anecdotal.
“[Tests were] not done in a controlled clinical trial. So you really can’t make any definitive statement about it,” Fauci suggested, according to ABC News.
Now, South Dakota will attempt to scientifically settle that issue.

That’s a wonderful quote, it is the essence of the evidence-based governance that Trump does all the time. The concept is that we use facts and evidence wherever possible, and we resort to political theory only when we run out of data, and facts. The Left does the opposite, and forces everything into ideological molds, without even looking at the data and facts. That’s why the Left screws up constantly, because they ignore reality.

I have no idea, regarding the efficacy of this malaria drug and some zinc. However, what’s the risk? Multiple people have been on this. Some for decades, with no ill side effects. They (who in the hayull “they” are) keep pointing to heart damage. Whereas, standard practice does not even require an EKG prior to prescription.
A long time friend of mine (since 1998), Dr. Kim, Min Soo, has been prescribing a similar combo since mid February. He told me his results were incredible.
But, that has nothing to do with it, in the U.S., at this time. Why not use it? If it has no positive results, it’s really not more dangerous than a sugar pill placebo.
I can see the medical community speaking against its use, if there was other proven methodology.
However, to date, nothing else has reared its head (outside of heavy intravenous Vitamin C) as anything useful. So, why not use it until something better comes along?

WE WIPED OUT MALARIA FROM THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE BACK IN THE EARLY YEARS OF THE LAST CENTURY. BUT BECAUSE OF THE BOOK SILENT SPRING PUBLISHED IN THE 1960’S AND THE NEWLY FORMED EPA MALARIA MADE A COMEBACK LEADING TO THE DEATHS OF MILLIONS WORLD WIDE OVER THE PAST 50 YEARS.

It certainly doesn’t kill you. It has to be prescibed from a doctor like any other medication. So any side effects will be taken into consideration. The left doesn’t want a drug that ends this “pandemic”. What better way to destroy economic progress that has been made ? Trump’s success here has been a real stumblng block for the left.
This is what is on the box for hydroxychloroquine. I don’t know if zinc or another drug mentioned offsets these side effects. Note vision side effects are RARE. If you are gasping for breath and on your way out, I think most people would go for it. Plus we have Right to try! You have nothing to lose unless you want to kick the bucket. No one is going to force you to take it.

Here’s why I’m not following the deaths anymore. When NO testing is required to determine if the deceased even was infected ….
Might as well have a stamp reading “Cause of Death Covid-19” and pop it on every death certificate placed in front of a pill-pusher.

Be grateful Trump is a reading ADDICT. He reads and reads and reads. He didn’t pull hydroxychloroquine out of thin air. He read about it. Just like he didn’t arbitrarily pick Peter Navarro, a DEM at random. I guarantee you he read one of his many books. They are both on the same page with trade and China. I would bet Navarro is a Republican now.
When Trump has a choice to pick good people, he usually does. It’s the bipartisan confirmation crap that leaves him with less than desirable people or the position will never be filled. Trump gets stuck with the establishment pipeline because good people won’t get through it and then there is Javanka, sigh… Hillary surrogates. It’s hard to say who is dumber.. Love is blind…we have to END nepotism in any form.
Trump’s trade advisors are stellar! Here Trump can pick who he wants. Peter Navarro is very sharp and contributes allot to our China trade policies. He has viewed China the same way as Trump has for decades. He was a former Economic and Public Policy professor, patriot and author of numerous books about China, trade, economics as well as corruption by donors and special interests. None of the other GOP candidates would have had a team like this or confronted China. NONE OF THEM – certainly not Rafael Cruiz. He’s just a swamp talker. China is at war with us for dominance. China is taking over through buying companies, predatory lending which tends to equal buying countries, the U.N., WHO, the WTO etc..!
As a doctoral student, in 1984, Navarro wrote a book entitled The Policy Game: How Special Interests and Ideologues are Stealing America, which discussed that special interest groups had led the United States to “a point in its history where it cannot grow and prosper.”

High doses have caused heart problems. This has been known for some time. Small trial in France just cancelled over heart side effects. Low doses ok.

Let’s hope they get the meds distributed quickly. As of 4/14/20 10:07 EDT, South Dakota was listed as having 868 cases and 6 deaths. Let’s hope that a week from now the state is in amazingly good shape. Q…WWG1WGA
