Obama’s NIH Sent $3.7M to Wuhan Lab Where Coronavirus May Have Originated. Trump’s Stopping It

Story continues below advertisementBack in 2015, when Barack Obama was president, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) sent a $3.7 million grant to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, a lab that grew coronaviruses and injected them into animals. It is quite feasible that the novel coronavirus responsible for the COVID-19 global pandemic leaked from that lab, and U.S. Intelligence sources have been saying that the virus came from a Level-4 lab in Wuhan. During his coronavirus press conference on Friday, President Donald Trump pledged to stop the funding.
“Why would the U.S. give a grant like that to China?” a reporter asked.
“The Obama administration gave them a grant of $3.7 million, I’ve been hearing about that, and we’ve instructed that if any grant going to that area — we’re looking at it, literally, about an hour ago — and also early in the morning, we will end that grant very quickly,” Trump said. “But it was granted quite a while ago. They were granted quite a substantial amount of money.”
He asked the reporter when the grant was given, and she said the NIH granted it in 2015.
“Who was president, then, I wonder?” Trump quipped.
Who, indeed? Why none other than Barack Obama.
Last Friday, the conservative-leaning animal rights organization White Coat Waste Project alerted The Washington Examiner to the grant, and intelligence sources began to converge on the Wuhan lab earlier this week.
The Wuhan Institute of Virology, the most advanced laboratory of its kind on the Chinese mainland, is based a mere twenty miles from the infamous wildlife market which was originally thought to be the location of the transfer of the virus from animals to humans. The sequencing of the coronavirus genome has traced the virus back to bats found in Yunnan caves. The Wuhan Institute was experimenting on bats from the area already known to be the source of COVID-19.
Naturally, the revelation that American taxpayers bankrolled the lab that may be responsible for the virus caused no little consternation.
“When I learned our government was spending taxpayers’ money at China’s disgusting wet markets to buy and slaughter cats and dogs for cruel experiments, I helped lead the successful effort to stop it last year,” said Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) said in a statement. “I’m disgusted now to learn that, for years, the U.S. government has been funding dangerous and cruel animal experiments at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, which may have contributed to the global spread of coronavirus, and research at other labs in China that have virtually no oversight from U.S. authorities.”
“It’s unnecessary and unacceptable for American taxpayers to fund these institutions, and it has to end now,” Gaetz said.
The White Coat Waste Project praised Trump’s decision to cut the Wuhan lab funding.
“We applaud President Donald Trump for taking swift and decisive action to ensure that American taxpayers are not forced to pay for wasteful and treacherous animal experiments at the Wuhan Institute of Virology,” the project’s founder and president, Anthony Bellotti, said in a statement. “Just one week ago, White Coat Waste Project released a blockbuster exposé, which revealed to the world how the National Institutes of Health had given China’s sloppy, state-run bio-agent laboratory part of a $3.7 million taxpayer-funded grant for dangerous animal experiments on coronavirus-infected bats—experiments that put human lives at risk.”
“Thanks to the outstanding leadership of President Trump, Congressman Matt Gaetz, and Senator Martha McNally, this misuse of taxpayer dollars is over,” Bellotti added.
Obama’s defenders consistently claim his administration had no scandals. Let’s see them try to deny that funding the Wuhan lab where the Chinese Wuhan coronavirus may have originated is a scandal.

The NIH stopped funding because China was weaponizing the Covid-19. The technical term for this is “Gain of Function” research, where virologists try to make the virus stronger. This can be good, in trying to figure out how some viruses become lethal, but it is usually bad. Bio-weapon labs do it to make bio-weapons more potent. When the NIH found out, they canceled the funding, and China picked up the cost, and continued. And the virus was already dangerous, because the US researchers found that it came from bats, but it could infect humans directly, with no modifications. “A ticking time bomb” the US researchers called it.
It’s still not clear whether China actually made the virus more potent, but soon, it leaked into the general population, and the epidemic began.

The 2020 presidential race is about to be hit by an O-bomb.
Former President Barack Obama is champing at the bit to jump into the campaign fray on behalf of his vice president Joe Biden, and is sharpening his knives for President Trump, his aides and advisors told The Post.
“He is very eager to do this,” said a former senior Obama official who remains in regular touch with his old boss. “I certainly expect President Obama to be very active.”
Though Obama has followed the tradition of past presidents in avoiding day-to-day criticism of his successor, those familiar with his thinking say he has been particularly roused in recent months by Trump’s performance handling COVID-19.
“The coronavirus disaster and the [federal] government’s inability to lead on it is searing in his brain … more than anything else Trump has done,” said a second insider. “Obama is generally heartbroken by the Donald Trump presidency.”
Obama insiders said the ex-president would be careful to let Team Biden call the shots and make the final decisions about when and how to deploy him.

geirsmith: I agree, there is no paper birth certificate. If there was, we would have seen it by now. All Obama ever presented was a heavily photo-shopped digital phony. Logic dictates that an usurper of the Presidency never was a legitimate President, and all that Obama did must be cancelled. In the Hall of Presidents, the Obama years will have a blank canvas. Trump can invoke that at any time.

I have her links online and all her details. She’s got a blog that reveals Obama’s real name and real birthplace. But it’s heavy info that the birthers don’t want to face. It shows that Obama’s got family links into the Washington Establishment and Deep Swamp. None of the birthers can handle the info. It goes too far down the rabbit-hole. But we on Internet can handle the truth and can go all the way down that rabbit-hole til we uncover Obama’s horrible, real truth. I’m ready to reveal this anyone who wants it. Right away. Now!

The gist of what she’s revealing is that Obama’s real name is Barry Parks. He’s Rosa Parks’ nephew. He’s born in the same place as his mother: Topeka, Kansas. Obama’s born on the Forbes Air Force Base outside Topeka. His father Jim T. Parks was murdered by a KKK lynching. But it’s very close to Obama’s family who have KKK/DNC leanings. Obama’s family’s linked to the Bush/Clinton/Hunt/Cheney/Perot/Palin families. That’s the very scary truth they fear so much. The Deep Swamp want this truth SHUT UP!!!!! Oh you’re right, China is guilty of bio-warfare for sure. They do bio-warfare research, against international law and treaties. They were careless or deliberate in releasing Covid-19. They covered up the disaster until it was hard to control. They shut down domestic air travel from Wuhan, but kept international flights open. They appear too have exported Covid-19 to a S. Dakota meat plant owned by China. And they are smearing and blaming the USA for nothing.

A theory put forward by French professor Luc Montagnier — award-winning co-discoverer of the AIDS virus but also mocked by some colleagues for some outrageous theories — has sparked a scientific firestorm.
According to the Nobel Prize winner in Medicine, a man used to controversy, the SARS-CoV-2 virus is the result of an attempt to manufacture a vaccine against the AIDS virus, Agence France Presse reported.
Montagnier says the presence of elements of HIV in the genome of the new virus and even elements of the “germ of malaria” are highly suspect, the report said. Interviewed on the French CNews channel, he said the characteristics of the new coronavirus could not have arisen naturally.
The “industrial” accident was said to have taken place in the Wuhan National Biosafety Laboratory, he added.
“The Wuhan city laboratory has specialized in these coronaviruses since the early 2000s,” he claimed. “They have expertise in this area.”
He also proposes to rid the virus of these foreign elements “with waves” — a theory which has attracted mockery in the past.
“That does not make sense. These are very small elements that we find in other viruses of the same family, other coronaviruses in nature,” virologist Étienne Simon-Lorière of the Institut Pasteur in Paris, explained to AFP.
“These are pieces of the genome that actually look like lots of sequences in the genetic material of bacteria, viruses and plants,” he says.
“If we take a word from a book and it looks like another word, can we say that one has copied from the other? This is absurd!”
Simon-Lorière is manager of the evolutionary genomic structure of RNA viruses at the Institut Pasteur, the report said.
The alleged modifications of the virus — which would seek to get rid of foreign elements (genetic pieces of HIV) — are undoubtedly false, adds Simon-Lorière, who abstained from any comment on Montagnier’s “waves” theory.
The theory that the Covid-19 originated from genetic manipulation has been circulating in social media and has already been discounted by in-depth, professional analyses of the genome of the virus communicated by the Chinese, the report said.
In fact, researchers around the world have since been able to isolate and analyze them — including samples taken from patients in their own country, the report said.
Professor Montagnier, a former member of the Institut Pasteur, was awarded the 2008 Nobel Prize in Medicine for the identification of the virus responsible for AIDS, with his colleague at the time, professor Françoise Barré-Sinoussi, the report said.
In addition to his theories on the electromagnetic waves emitted by DNA and on the benefits of papaya, which attracted mockery, he appeared in 2017 alongside professor Henri Joyeux, figurehead of anti-vaccines.
Montagnier helped to denounce the dangerousness of vaccines and compulsory vaccination, believing that there was a risk “with good will at the start, of poisoning the entire population little by little.”
According to Nature.com, the Wuhan lab was designed and constructed with French assistance as part of a 2004 cooperative agreement on the prevention and control of emerging infectious diseases.
But the complexity of the project, China’s lack of experience, difficulty in maintaining funding and long government approval procedures meant that construction wasn’t finished until the end of 2014.

Just speculation but I would bet Xi wanted to hide this because of Trump’s ongoing trade imbalance dispute. It backfired. In some form, China will pay for this. I’d like to see Trump deduct that from our debt that China bought. BTW, China tariffs are still on!
