Why isn’t anyone talking about this? Where are the media queries? Governor Cuomo has been suspiciously silent on the drug trials, the media even less curious. The rare question about the hydroxychloroquine trials is met with the same vague answer, anecdotal evidence is “encouraging” and results will be released on April 20.
Clinical trials began March 24.
Will one reporter interrupt Cuomo’s cracker barrel hour to ask a probing question — what do the drug trials show?

Novartis has won the go-ahead from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to conduct a randomized trial of malaria drug hydroxychloroquine against COVID-19 disease, the Swiss drugmaker said on Monday, to see if it helps patients.
The decades-old generic medicine got FDA emergency use authorization this month for its unapproved use for coronavirus disease. “We recognize the importance of answering the scientific question of whether hydroxychloroquine will be beneficial for patients with COVID-19 disease,” said John Tsai, Novartis’s top drug developer. “We mobilized quickly to address this question in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study.”
Novartis’s Sandoz generics unit has pledged to donate 130 million doses of the medicine for use. Sanofi has also said it will donate 100 million doses of hydroxychloroquine to 50 countries.
Researchers in New York will announce new week the preliminary results of a study on hydroxychloroquine, a drug often touted by President Trump as a “game-changer” for coronavirus patients.
The announcement could offer one of the first scientific hints as to whether the drugs are helpful against the virus.
Since hydroxychloroquine is already on the market for malaria, lupus and other diseases, doctors are free to prescribe it “off label” to patients with coronavirus. Doctors can also prescribe chloroquine, a similar drug, and azithromycin, an antibiotic that’s sometimes paired with the two drugs.
The New York study will review hundreds of medical records from hospital patients across New York state with coronavirus to see if the drugs are helping them or hurting them.
In clinical trials, which are considered the gold standard in medicine, doctors give the drugs to a group of patients and then give placebo pills to another group of patients, and compare how the two groups fare. There are more than a dozen clinical trials underway in the US right now but results for most of them won’t be published for months.
The Albany medical records study is being conducted in partnership with the New York Department of Health, which is funding the study.

Is there any reason why?
If hydroxychloroquine works, it might make Trump look good.

The drug has been in use for years but not for COVID treatment. The dosage for COVID is much higher than for Lupus or Arthritis.

They probably had trouble analyzing the data, that’s normal. But it will come out, because the Left would love bad results, and the Right would love good results. Either way, there will be an audience. Notice that the NY study is a ‘quick and dirty’ research design. It had had to be, there was no time to refine the design. This means that bad or good, the results are not definitive.
The Novartis study Pamela mentioned above is very high quality, and it will take months. But that’s OK, because the USA epidemic will start tapering off soon anyway. We have to shut it down ASAP, and be ready if it flares up. The Spanish Flu came back 3 times, with 625,000 US mortalities.

The reason, the press is silent is there are edicts issued by several state governors that restrict their pharmacies from filling hydroxychlorquine prescriptions unless it is “indicated.” Meaning approved by the FDA specifically to treat the ailment. At this time, the FDA has only authorized “emergency use.” If you want to talk about COVID-19 outcomes being racist, take a look at the state regulations regarding hydroxychloroquine in states that have high mortality of African Americans. It was known beforehand that the black community in some of these cities has high levels of what the experts call co-morbidities. Hydroxychloroquine has been (anecdotally) shown to help people with these co-morbidities. By writing the rules for the pharmicists this way, one could easily argue that those states condemned people to death.

Obese people and those with pre existing medical problems like diabetes are always at risk with any drug. Obesity plays a large factor in recovering trom the Chinese virus at any age.

While what you are saying is true, it does not address my comment at all. The regulations were written specifically to make it difficult, if not impossible for these people to be treated with hydroxychloroquine. They had no say. Their doctors had no say. I, like you I presume, expect that some 30% to 40% would have succumbed to the disease anyway. What about the others who were given no choice?

Well… There is theory and then there is practice. What prompted me to look into the restrictions for each state was an article about a woman in Virginia who claims she was refused said treatment. I hope the results they have come out, however, it was an incompetently designed study, since they were using Vitamin C as a placebo.
Vitamin C has antioxidant effects and neutralizes formation of reactive oxygen species, which are prevalent in viral pneumonia.
The results shouldn’t be accepted, since it’s a biased study without an actual placebo, but an active substance, vitamin C, which would also be likely to have benefits against the virus.
A placebo by definition is not an active substance.
There is a study in China consisting of high doses of Vitamin C, and a physician in Long Island is also prescribing high doses of vitamin C as a treatment.
The way the study was set up was another attempt to disparage President Trump.
Hopefully, the treatment will show beneficial effects, but it was poorly designed and is likely to be criticized by the medical community as being performed incompetently.

The problem is that HCQ is not patentable so big pharma doesn’t dare let it be known that it works on this corona virus because it might also work on other corona – type viruses such as influenza and the world would find out that we really don’t need their expensive vaccines every year and their vaccine hoax would blow up in their faces.

Don’t know details of study…but always best to test antiviral drug early on, either asymptomatic positive cases or mild symptoms not requiring hospitalization or at least not needing ventilation and have other organ failure.

Has no one considered that simply using a salt solution gargle can be as effective as a vaccination against flues that start by lodging in the throat lining to multiply and proceed down into the lungs. Flush the virus out before it takes hold and protect yourself with a cheap or store bought gargle. I keep a bottle of salt wash on the car dash where it becomes sun warmed and use it after every store outing.

There is already clinical studies of Vietnam vets being given the Malaria drugs weekly during 60/70’s and now believe the psychosis of vets (Post Traumatic Stress) was not the results of experiencing combat, but the long term effects of Chloroquine drugs on brain cells. Which brings the question – Is the disease more harmful than the long term effects of the treatment?

There is much conflicting information regarding trials using Hydroxychloroquine and the design parameters which seem to have been set-up to produce ambiguous results or failure.
Successful Treatment of Wuhan Virus, COVID19 patients has been documented worldwide with the use of a drug cocktail: HCQ, Azithromycin and Zinc sulphate. Each component has a pharmacological purpose. Without administration of Azithromycin, a secondary underlying bacterial infection may emerge. Zinc has been shown to enhance the speed and effectiveness of HCQ.
Dr. Oz stateed last week that Gov. Cuomo had stopped the NY clinical trial with no further explanation or comment in Trump’s Coronavirus daily briefing. I have heard nothing further. I am unaware of a current trial with HCQ in NY.
A French scientist stated last week that he had declined to participate in a clinical trial for HCQ as a “Matter of ETHICS.“ He stated that it was unethical, in a time of pandemic and crisis, to allow a patient to receive a placebo or another trial drug when the cure rates with Hydroxychloroquine have been 99-100%, when the patient was administered the 3 drug cocktail as soon as COVID 19 symptoms were identified. I agree completely.
When antibody tests are readily available and random site testing becomes a routine tool of identifying emerging viruses, people will return to life. Pair this with a twenty dollar drug cocktail that gives immediate relief, even in those with underlying conditions and the immunocompromized. The key is early treatment and prevention of hospitalization.

It’s hydroxychloroquine and ZINC that works! They continue to fail speaking about that. Hydroxychloroquine opens up the cells, allowing zinc to get past the cell walls. The zinc stops the virus from replicating, and the hydroxychloroquine is an immuno-suppressant, which prevents the immune system from destroying the lung cells. It’s the immune system which is the cause of death in these cases. Hydroxychloroquine + zinc for the win!
