WATCH Despite almost 2 weeks of Coronavirus decline in leading indicators, NYC Mayor de Blasio has NO plan to reopen

8

Almost two weeks ago, it was widely reported that New York appeared to to not merely flattened but probably begun to turn down.

The three key indicators that New York City uses to track the spread of the new coronavirus showed significant improvement in the city’s most recent data, Mayor Bill de Blasio said during today’spress briefing.

When a city or state is meeting the criteria but there are no plans to reopen, it’s not about your health.

On April 14, Nate Silver wrote:

There is increasing evidence that New York City and New York state are turning a corner in their efforts to fight back COVID-19, and the timing suggests that the shifts may be a result of social distancing measures.

In his daily press conferences, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has described recent data on hospitalizations as good news and emphasized that the curve has become quite flat. On Tuesday, for the first time, New York reported a net decline in hospitalizations, although it remains to be seen whether the trend can be sustained.. The number of people reported as dying from COVID-19 has also been at a plateau in recent days.

But data on the share of New Yorkers who are testing positive for COVID-19 suggests that the curve has not merely flattened but probably begun to turn down. Among tests conducted Monday, April 13 (and reported on Tuesday afternoon), 34.5 percent were positive, down from a peak of 50.4 percent on Tuesday, March 31. The decline in the share of positive tests has been fairly robust across most parts of New York state, including in all five New York City’s five boroughs, although some more clearly so than others.

All the numbers in this article come from publicly available data from the New York State Department of Health. (There’s also a downloadable version.) The state has been releasing detailed reports on the number of positive and negative tests conducted each day in each county in the state, including in the boroughs of New York City (which are each their own counties).

Clearly New York is on the cusp to meet the criteria:

And so here we are, going on two weeks of declines and New York has no plan to re-open. Watch:

The public, not mayors or governors, will decide when we reopen for business. And it’s already begun.

Mayor deBlasio started a hotline this week for people to rat out their neighbors for violating quarantine. He has already shut it down, because the public flooded it with dick pics and Hitler memes. Let’s see more of this kind of resistance!

I’d bet he believes federal money will continue to bail him out, plus rescue his bankrupt city. LOL! Even stupid Cuomo doesn’t want to be closed down. It will be enjoyable to watch them feud. They have in the past.

The Democrats are arsonists who were forced to help put out their own fire or suffer the blame for it. The 3 step plan to safely bring the economy back is forcing the arsonists to put in place fire detectors and fire breaks and fire suppression systems to defend against their next fire.

The dweeb could at least put a serious plan to re-open safely.

He’s just sitting there. or rather secretly jumping for joy like Bill Maher because of the virus. Like some people were on 9/11.

Wow! When asked when NYC could reopen, all this jackass could do was talk a bunch of hot air. He couldn’t even answer the damn question. From the very beginning, he and his fellow travelers all said, ‘you must self quarantine for fourteen days to determine if you have it.’ Well, they all did it and the numbers are going down. So, why isn’t he reopening. And why is he comparing the U.S., with europe.
