Cuomo says 606 die as state’s coronavirus toll drops sharply for first time
By Dave Goldiner, New York Daily News|Apr 16, 2020 | 11:50 AM
Gov. Cuomo reported 606 New Yorkers died from coronavirus Thursday, the first time the daily death toll has sharply declined since the crisis started.
The death rate dropped about 20% from the 752 toll reported in NYS a day earlier, a hopeful sign as the city and state seek to “bend the curve” of illness and death.

The numbers of newly critically ill and intubated patients also dropped significantly for the first time.
Still, Cuomo warned against thinking the picture is rosy. He cited daily figure of hospitalizations, which has dropped from sky high levels but is still disturbing.
“You still have 2,000 people walking into a hospital and being diagnosed with (COVID-19),” he said. “That’s still a lot of people.”

Pamela, I think that your comment is unnecessarily harsh. In these times of uncertainty, I think that it is better to err on the side of caution than to be hasty. I support your concerns however. Thank you
Were you making that same statement, during the 2009-1010 flu season, when over 60,000 Americans died of the Mexican Swine Flu and the public schools weren’t even closed?
I can guarantee you no-one was. The only difference between then and now is who’s the President, and which country was involved in unleashing this onto the world.
Tony, we have been on lockdown for a month. Hightax Cuomo just extended it for another month. It’s destructive and unnecessary.
He is showboating. And he loves his daily Crackerbarrel Cuomo hour — which he can now do for another month. More hokey stories of the old country and good ole Mario.
He did none of the heavy lifting. He cried to Trump for ventilators and President Trump sent him thousands of ventilators, which he is now sending to other states because he doesn’t even need them.
He cried to Trump for hospital beds and President Trump built him thousands of hospital beds which remain empty.
He is a bad governor who has driven the highest taxed state into bankruptcy. I imagine he is counting on Trump/America will bail him out of his fiscal boondoggle too.
Thank you for all you do Ms. Geller….you are needed more than ever and freedom-loving Americans appreciate all that you do.
G-d bless you always !!!

I have a great deal of sympathy and concern for the future welfare of New Yorkers. BUT, in all honesty, they voted this megalomaniac nut job as their leader in the 1st place. Their only salvation will be in the hope that they learned the terrifying danger of electing a Stalinist to power and will vote this idiot back to the unemployment line in the fall.
