As virus deaths rise, Sweden sticks to ‘low-scale’ lockdown
Posted: April 17, 2020 KUSI Newsroom

So far, Sweden has banned gatherings larger than 50 people, closed high schools and universties, and urged those over 70 or otherwise at greater risk from the virus to self-isolate.

The softer approach means that schools for younger children, restaurants and most businesses are still open, creating the impression that Swedes are living their lives as usual.

However, foreign minister Ann Linde, who spoke alongside Carlson at Friday’s briefing in Stockholm, dismissed the idea that life goes on as normal in Sweden, calling it “a myth.”

“Many people stay at home and have stopped travelling. Many businesses are collapsing. Unemployment is expected to rise dramatically,” Linde said.

“There is no full lockdown of Sweden, but many parts of Swedish society have shut down,” she argued.

Sweden has so far reported more than 13,200 positive cases of COVID-19, the illness caused by the virus, and 1,400 deaths.

The new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms for most people. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness or death.

Part of the reason why she stated that is due to: “According to a survey conducted by Sifo, the population’s confidence in the Public Health Agency increased from 65 percent to 74 percent between 9–12 March and 21–25 March.[21] A March 2020 survey, carried out by the same company for TV4, showed more than half (53%) of the Swedish population had trust in Tegnell, a higher number than for any of the current leaders of the Swedish political parties, while 18% said they didn’t trust the state epidemiologist.[22]” from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anders_Tegnell. Not that Wikipedia is always correct.

Dr. Anders Tegnell, Sweden’s chief epidemiologist overseeing the government’s response is becoming a bit of a hero. Politicians are the same everywhere. They want people to turn to them.

Drag it to the public square. Strip it and publicly horsewhip it. Then, have it hanged by the neck until dead. That is a just and fitting punishment for that monster.

I’m not sure I trust the statistics coming out of Sweden. They have a whole huge class of people who are not being recorded, since they live in no-go zones.

I am not so sure that the Swedish way of dealing with the virus is the right one. Here is just a little comparison:
Population Sweden just over 10 Million with 14777 Corona cases and 1580 dead.
Population Australia about 25.5 Million with 6646 Corona cases and 71 dead

Can you and the rest of the others like you think about other factors besides deaths? What about the kids that were able to continue with school? What about the shop owner that is able to keep his business? How about being able to go and worship your god if you have one? Do I need to keep going on? Honestly, I just cannot understand how people can write a response like yours that considers one factor. It baffles me.

You must be easily baffled! We are discussing the efficacy of lock downs and partial lockdowns
Incidentally Russia which until recently was being hailed as place beating the virus has now introduced severe lockdowns
52,763 cases 456 deaths

IF we all get the death rate of USA, 42,500 DEAD. there wont be many kids left to go to school, NO teachers left, half the pop left to buy any goods. SWEDEN has NO lockdown, + a 12% death rate, NZ has strick lockdown, 1445 sick, 13 deaths. LOCKDOWN WORKS. NZ hopes to have NO VIRUS in another 4 wks.

We don’t have that death rate here. The scum hospitals get paid ONLY if they classify a death as the fake covid pandemic. Hence heart attacks are now counted as covid.

I have simply written that i am not sure. I did not say that they are right or wrong. I did not consider any factors in that regard. Do you want to dispute the facts that i have given about Sweden and Australia ?? So what are you actually carrying on about ??

NZ pop 5 MILLION, sick rate dropped 90% 3 wks after lockdown, 1445 sick, 13 dead.

This a complete misuse of numbers. Firstly you are not comparing like with like. The Swedes are a very small population of well educated, obedient and conformist people, nothing like the USA eg. They also have a 24%+ population of migrants (largely Islamic) and we know from other populations of Muslims they are not taking distancing seriously
as they believe prayer will keep them safe. I anticipate that these pockets will produce a large pool of infections when figures emerge. These communities tend not to cooperate with authorities as you well know. So
14,777 cases and 1,133 deaths

Finland which is a fairer comparison similar social responsibility etc. but about half the population
4,014 cases and 98 deaths

Norway similar to Finland
7,156 cases 181 deaths

STATS DONT LIE…SWEDEN 14,777 sick 1580 DEAD,…neighbours DENMARK 7815 sick, 864 dead,…NORWAY 7103 sick, 169 DEAD….SWEDEN has a 12 % death rate, most western countries have a 2% death rate, normal flu is .8% death rate.

Real numbers don’t lie but fake ones do. Crooked Hitlery Clinton has a 98% chance of winning the 2016 election for example…

I don’t know if this is relevant, but it crossed my mind. Years ago, there was a picture in the papers of baby carriages lined up in the street outside of a coffeehouse in Scandanavia. The ground was snow-covered, and it looked frigid.
This scene was unusual in that nobody was guarding those infants from strangers, nor was there any concern for the temperature outside. In reading the article, it mentioned that people believed the cold would fortify the baby’s immune system.
But that can’t be the entire story. I mean, they drink a lot too, and I have doubts that everything they do works for them. Still, we notice a disparity in the number of cases and how sick some get, and not others. Aside from that, Sweden is open. People are mingling. It is almost Business as Usual there. I have to wonder how much of this is political, and how much is a simple recognition of Mother Nature at Work, culling the elderly and infirm?
At some point in the future, some good may come from this. This virus may stimulate additional research into virology, and the result will change the world. We won’t need a vaccine if we can prevent illnesses by curing the first patient with symptoms. Lifespans will increase because nobody has ever died of old age, only the problems that come with it.

This may not be accurate. Sweden has already been stealing from her people to provide for millions of Moslem immigrants who have been waging Jihad against the Swedes. They won’t admit having become the rape capital of the world as Moslem gangs gang bang their women.
