School history lesson compares Trump to Nazis, communists

TOWSON, Maryland — Republican lawmakers in Maryland have criticized a history lesson at a public high school near Baltimore that compared US President Donald Trump with Nazis and communists.
A slide used in an Advanced Placement history class at Loch Raven High School in Towson shows a picture of Trump above pictures of a Nazi swastika and a flag of the Soviet Union. Two captions read “wants to round up a group of people and build a giant wall” and “oh, THAT is why it sounds so familiar!”
The Baltimore Sun reports that state Del. Kathy Szeliga arranged for copies of the slide and the school system’s response to be sent to her fellow Baltimore County lawmakers. She also posted the image on Facebook.
“It is horrific. It is educational malfeasance,” Szeliga said Friday at a meeting of the county’s delegation.
Baltimore County Councilman Wade Kach called it “a piece of propaganda” that didn’t belong in a classroom.
The school system said the slide was not part of the resources it provides for AP history teachers.
Charles Herndon, a spokesman for Baltimore County schools, said students in advanced high school classes are “discerning, intelligent students who are going to be able to draw their own inferences and draw their own conclusions.
“The topics being discussed in the class included World Wars and the attempts by some leaders throughout history to limit or prevent migration into certain countries. In isolation and out of context with the lesson, the image could be misunderstood,” the school district said in a statement.
The school system said the issue had become a personnel matter “which will be appropriately addressed by the school administration and is not subject to further clarification.”

I’d have the teachers responsible scalps…one way or another. Just to start with, anyone who tells the lie that DJT is in any way either a Nazi OR a communist knows nothing about history, or even the definition of the words they so casually try to libel him with. They are like the fascist group calling itself ‘antifa’, themselves a bunch of fascist want-to-be brownshirts.
Yes, these people are communist and/or Nazis themselves or too stupid to understand what the words mean or how they are related. They shouldn’t be anywhere near schools or even in the USA. They don’t belong here, they deserve only to live in a true communist or fascist country instead.4 years agoConsider the fact that these so-called education Teachers were, in fact, taught themselves by ignorant Professors who also were taught by the SAUL ALINSKY crowd, like Hillary Clinton, Bernie, and a lot of left-wing fascists were. THIS IS HOW LEFTISTS IN THE DEMOCRAT PARTY DEFLECT THE TRUTH ABOUT THEMSELVES. And, this is exactly how you change a society from Capitalism to Socialism – THROUGH THE EDUCATION SYSTEM. Children only KNOW what they are taught or what they learn from. I questioned a LOT of my kids’ teachers and I can tell you now, they did not like that I did that and I was constantly at my kids’ school in the 80s wreaking havoc on their teaching methods and information. I had to re-teach my children.
Those are the people who need to be RE-EDUCATED. Until that happens, I PREFER HOME-SCHOOLING AND TEACHING THE TRUTH.
President Trump needs to get DeVos to re-evaluate our current school teachers, making them take specific history tests to see if what they are know IS A BLATANT LIE.

He needs legislation to make it permanent. He’s looking ahead. As you stated EO are easily reversed. It’s tougher to over turn legislation.He made it clear through his offers that DEMS want amnesty for all, open borders and mass immigration. Admittedly I was having heart palpitations with his DACA offers till I realized he was just trying to highlight how they don’t care about DACA people or our country.

There are some decent honest teachers out there. Many get positions in the public school system for the experience. The pay is decent and the benfits are great and the ultimate goal is TENURE – a job for life. They either tow the poitically correct line to get that or they go from contract to contract till they can get a position in a private conservative school.
There is allot of pressure if they work in a public school to do the least amount possible, so other teachers don’t look bad, and stay on point with the liberal agenda and actions of other tenured teachers. Getting tenure is political so teachers have to make choices…Most will cave in and go for the money and have an easy life.

If there really was a screw up of a different sort then an examination would show that and the correction instituted. Here, there’s no admission that anything wrong could have occured at all…. which means that the administration of that school needs to be examined for their role in the incident.

4 years agoIf you think this can’t happen in YOUR state, think again. NJ is the third state to install this filth. California and Illinois already have it. They are sneaky with it. In NJ they are fighting the law but who knows it they will be successful. There is nothing NORMAL about LBGTQ+ and never will be so they must BRAINWASH kids to keep the LIE alive and create more of them. Pat yourself on the back social liberals!
All I can suggest is if you can’t put them in a conservative private school, homeschool them. It is unlikely that you will be successful in combating the nonstop indoctrination and propaganda thrown at them from K-12. They spend more time with teachers than with you during the school year and they are also taught that teachers care more about them than parents – to put a wall between the student and the parent. It’s like Hitler Brown Shirt education and I am not exaggerating.

Now, some leaders are calling for an exodus from public schools.
In at least a dozen districts across the state, government schools began testing a “pilot” curriculum this month. It infuses LGBT propaganda into literally everything. In addition to normalizing homosexuality and transgenderism, many of the programs are aimed at peddling the idea of homosexual heroes to children under the guise of LGBT “history.”
According to news reports, schools in Hackensack, Morristown, Newark, Asbury Park and beyond are supposed to serve as “proving grounds” for “new lessons in history, economics and even grammar designed to improve awareness of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender contributions and issues,” as USA Today put it. Math and science are being targeted, too.
Legislators who sponsored the bill bragged that the LGBT propaganda will be “weaved across subjects” at every grade level. Because the indoctrination will be ubiquitous, there can be no opt out provision for children of parents who believe what virtually every society, culture, and religion have believed for virtually all of human history — that homosexual activity is wrong.
The whole scheme has its roots in a statute passed last year purporting to require that inmates in government schools be subjected to endless propaganda on the “political and economic contributions” of “LGBT people.” At the top of the list is Harvey Milk, a child rapist — some of whose victims committed suicide — who became America’s first openly homosexual elected official in 1977 with strong support from the cult of mass-murderer Jim Jones.

They (the watchdog) can be shockingly inept at this though as we have seen in particular with several moslem run schools.
There needs to be a test for all school head teachers and unless they pass that test and show themselves to be balanced then they don’t get the job and that same headteacher should be responsible for the output and attitude of the individual teachers beneath him.

The only really good thing that Maggie Thatcher ever did was taming the unions and now in Britain they appear to be going wild again and are behind a lot of the far left street pressure groups and I imagine it’s much the same in the states.

I knew that, with rare exceptions, when I needed some decent all-around carpenters, I could go to the Hall and pick up journeymen that knew a thing ‘r two. And, under union rules, if they didn’t work out, I could fire them, on the spot, as long as they walked away with their check … and I made the requisite contribution to their pension, health insurance, and annuity. The purpose of a trade union is to train a man to be able to do his job. You pay up the wazoo … but, if it’s a week’s project and you don’t have time to comb through a bunch of worthless trash …. only way to go.

4 years agoMy father was raised by two school teachers. They did a good job and my father was the smartest person I ever knew. He wasn’t perfect but he was smart. He always told me, “Teach children to think, not what to think.” We have gotten away from that now, schools are indoctrinating our children instead of teaching them to think.

If I had my way the public school system would be entirely de-funded and parents would be in responsible for educating their children. That way parents and children would all be a lot smarter than they are today. Early Americans that were taught in those one room schoolhouses had better educations that what they receive today. But they were taught by Christians. They learned Proverbs, real math, science, etc, instead of being brainwashed by an assortment of Resentment Studies. I doubt that you will be allowed to enter any state run Teacher’s College if you make it clear that you are a Christian and the Bible is the source of your worldview.
