U.S. Surgeon General Rips Media For Hyping ‘Worst-Case Scenarios’
On Friday, U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams blasted the media for hyping “worst-case scenarios” when discussing the coronavirus crisis. Adams appeared on CBS “This Morning,” where co-host Gayle King ripped President for a similar perspective to Adams’ arguing that the president had “no medical training.”
As Kyle Drennen of Newsbusters reports, King began the exchange by asserting:
Story continues below advertisementDr. Adams, let’s talk about ventilators for just a second. You know, doctors and nurses around the country are saying, “Hello, government, we need ventilators, we need ventilators now.” But President Trump seems to have a different take on that. I want you to hear what he said last night and get your response to that.
King then played a clip of the president saying, “But I have a feeling that a lot of the numbers that are being said in some areas are just bigger than they’re going to be. I don’t believe you need 40,000 or 30,000 ventilators. You know, you go in major hospitals, sometimes they’ll have two ventilators. So now all of a sudden they’re saying, ‘Can we order 30,000 ventilators?”
King continued, “Dr. Adams, the President, to our knowledge, has no medical training, yet he continues to question the advice from the medical experts and professionals. Is that frustrating to you?”
Adams, who is an anesthesiologist and vice admiral in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, answered, “Well, you mentioned ventilators, and Dr. Birx said this, when you look at some of the projections out there, they’re based on worst-case scenarios and doing something. I heard a reporter yelling at Peter Navarro yesterday, ‘Where is a million ventilators?’ A million ventilators for the United States would mean one in 300 people in this country were on a ventilator at once. There is nowhere in the world where we’ve seen that type of spread of coronavirus, not even close. And so, some of these projections are way off. But we are leaning into supply. I was on a meeting with the American Society of Anesthesiologists last week and they’ve identified 70,000 ventilators that are in communities right now that can be converted.”
Drennen noted that the interview Adams referenced came from CNN on Thursday, when CNN anchor Brianna Keilar cut off White House advisor Peter Navarro from correcting her on her assumptions of how many ventilators were needed nationwide.
Then King started hyping New York governor Andrew Cuomo, gushing, “But we heard New York Governor Andrew Cuomo ask for ventilators. He gave very specific numbers. Do you think he doesn’t know what he’s talking about when it comes to this issue? When he’s in constant contact with New York – the top New York hospitals, by the way, that are in trouble.”
Adams, who received a Master of Public Health degree from the University of California, Berkeley, with a focus on chronic disease prevention, countered:
Well, I think that if you – I think that’s a fair question, and I think that if you talk to experts, Dr. Fauci, Dr. Birx and others, the models in many cases are way off. New York City, we actually have people on the ground who have told us that there are 1,000 ventilators sitting in a warehouse right now that haven’t been used.
You heard Governor Cuomo yesterday say, “Look, we actually have resources, they’re just mismatched.” And so, we sent a team, a FEMA team to help New York City make sure the resources are getting to where they need. I talked to people in western New York who said they’re furloughing nurses in hospitals in western New York State while people in New York City are suffering. We need to make sure we get the right resources to the right people. And that’s what we’re committed to doing.

I did have children. It’s truly amazing how after one semester in college, their life view changed. So much is simply accepted. Although, as they age, their life view seems to be reverting to what was held prior to leftist indoctrination. But, man-oh-man, do they spend money on their kids.

They MEAN to drag us to the days of medieval Europe of the time of the bubonic plague and Black Death, which were just as desolate for those left among the population. All for their own political gain.
How many of these businesses forced to close, will never reopen when the danger passes, and instead of customers returning you’ll see signs on front windows saying “Retail Space for Lease”? I guarantee you this will be coming.
And DeBozio (spelling deliberate) talking about dismantling basketball hoops in NYC playgrounds: While he’s at it, why doesn’t he go all out and flatten all the playgrounds, rip up all the ground they’re on and then seal them off with wooden ‘POST NO BILLS’ walls you see after old buildings are demolished and they prepare to put up new buildings in their place? And then have the new Yankee Stadium and CitiField likewise demolished – after all, didn’t they attract huge crowds? And every other venue that also is a magnet for large gatherings? All to make sure nobody has anything to live for or look forward to, and are led to conclude that life is no longer worth living. He clearly couldn’t care less about the destruction to the city’s economy and to people’s quality of life. Cuomo, at least, pays lip service on one hand to the hit the state’s economy is taking, and on the other is promoting policies that will exacerbate it. I get the distinct feeling every time he opens his mouth on things like “well, it looks like we went too far with this” that he’s playing the public like a fiddle.

The U.S. Public Health Service, their commissioned.corps., wear uniforms that DO look like the USN’s officers. A friend of mine married a woman that was in dental school. Her DDS education was being paid for by the navy. Upon graduation, her commission was assigned to the Public Health Service. Her uniform, without close inspection, would have had you saying, “Aye aye, Maam”.

Aside from General George Washington, next followed by General Pershing, there were Dwight Eisenhower, Douglas MacArthur, George Marshall, Omar Bradley and Henry Arnold were each “General of the Army.” Navy Adms. Chester Nimitz, William Halsey, Ernest King and William Leahy served as five-star “Fleet Admirals.”

How did Bradley get to be a 5 star general over Patton?
Henry “Hap” Arnold became a 5 star general twice.
I’ve never even heard of Adm. Leahy.
Halsey is lucky the IJN didn’t know he was trying to track them down following Pearl Harbor, if he had caught up w/them he would’ve had his command sunk out from under him.

MacArthur was ordered out of the Philippines. At some point he was evacuated from Bataan to Corregidor. MacArthur only had 22,000 soldiers and Marines on Luzon. Maybe if he hadn’t lost all his air support on the first day he might have had a chance. Why the USN and USAAF were caught completely by surprise I have no idea considering they already knew Pearl Harbor had been attacked. MacArthur lobbied the JCS to adopt the M1 garand as the standard rifle for the US military, if not for his efforts, WW2 would’ve been fought w/bolt-action Springfields.

In NO way, shape, or form was Dugout Doug the reason for the M-1 being adopted. Of Dugout’s subordinates, only Eisenhower refused the bribes.

Most of them (stars) were handed out after cessation. Washington’s five (some say six) weren’t given until President Ford did so. Washington served as a Major General, and never wore more than two while the war was raging. When he was elected president, an act of Congress promoted him to a Lieutenant General, giving him three. Close to two hundred years later, he finally made the big time.
Pershing, although General of the Army, never wore more than four stars. Although his were gold, as opposed to silver. When General of the Army became five stars, he was kicked up to five (1944).
So, although Pershing’s fifth star took a while …. Washington’s REALLY took some time.

If anything, Dems were more lax than Trump in their response when this first broke. Who forgot already they were still fixated on impeachment, and grousing that his travel bans were “racist” and “xenophobic”? And Dem politicians were initially parroting the WHO chief’s party line about “don’t worry, be happy.” While NYC in February had their Chinese New Year celebrations and were imploring people to travel to Chinatown to “prove” they weren’t “racist” – and lookee, now the Big Apple’s the epicenter and the apple has all but spoiled and gotten rotten. Not to mention their affirmative-action “health commissioner” likewise downplaying the threat that DeBozio is now using to destroy our economy, our freedoms and our way of life.

I am a nurse. Unfortunately I had to leave work in my mid-40’s due to spine issues. I am now of retirement age but believe me I still have more nursing knowledge than these “I just play one on TV” so-called news people. Knowing surgeons the way I do believe me, it took great restraint for the SG to NOT just explode on King. I just wish he would have actually. It is so blatantly obvious that all the LSM wants is to bash President Trump and make everyone in America afraid to step outside their homes. We have good medical people in place and with the scientists working on medications and vaccines we will have this under control. I don’t even listen to any news about it anymore, I get updates from reliable sources. No I will not say where I go because I am not on here to fight or defend my news outlets.
