UN study finds 1 in 3 Venezuelans facing hunger

At one time Venezuela was one of the wealthiest countries on the planet. However, after two decades of socialist governments Venezuela is now an impoverished hellhole. This is what the corrupt socialist Bernie Sanders will do to America if elected POTUS!

UN study finds 1 in 3 Venezuelans facing hunger

By Washington Examiner, February 24, 2020

About 9.3 million Venezuelans don’t have access to enough food to meet minimum nutrition requirements, according to a study from the United Nations.

One-third of Venezuelans were found to be moderately or severely food insecure by researchers from the World Food Programme, a project established by the U.N. The World Food Programme describes food insecurity as the inability to meet basic dietary needs.

The study, which consisted of surveys from 8,375 Venezuelans, showed that a large percentage of people were surviving on just potatoes or beans. Even one in five residents in the most prosperous areas of Venezuela was unable to meet basic nutritional needs.

Nearly three-quarters of respondents said they have used “food-related coping strategies” such as rationing meals or limiting dinners to just one cheap food. One-third of respondents said they have accepted food as payment at work rather than receiving cash. One in 5 admitted to selling personal belongings to pay for food.

Carolina Fernandez, a Venezuelan rights advocate, warned that Venezuelan children may face lasting growth challenges due to malnutrition. She told the Associated Press, “We’re talking about children who are going to have long-term problems because they’re not eating adequately.”

Venezuela has struggled through economic and political catastrophes. Hyperinflation left the Venezuelan bolivar nearly worthless, and the country’s leader, Nicolas Maduro, has refused to concede power in the face of international pressure.

Self-proclaimed democratic socialist and Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has argued that, “You don’t necessarily need a choice of 23 underarm spray deodorants or of 18 different pairs of sneakers when children are hungry in this country.”

He has since praised the democratic socialist economy of Venezuela for restricting the choice of deodorant and sneakers.

“Venezuela has it right!” he said after visiting the starving country. “They’ve limited the number of deodorant and sneaker choices the people have, so any time now, they’re going to be all well-fed and prosperous again.”

The crux of the argument is that capitalism shifts resources away from the important things like food and healthcare into ridiculous endeavors like preventing body odor and athletics.

“At least some countries understand priorities,” Sanders said. “Eventually, we in the United States will catch up to the 21st century where there are fewer choices for stuff and no one is hungry.”

When he was informed that people in Venezuela are eating their pets to have enough to eat, he reassured us that that was temporary. “Socialism will work eventually. Just give it a few more tries.”

Or a few more centuries before it returns us to the middle ages / feudalism .. As Churchill stated the only redeeming quality of communism ie: socialism is the equal sharing of misery –

Bernie Sanders has never lived in a place that controls and limits your choices of products to that which is sourced by the government. I have. This policy results in a less quality product for your money.

About 15%-20% of the Venzuelans have emigrated since the Revolution that brought in Hugo Chavez and Nicolas Maduro. Many of the 4-6 million Venzuelans are refugees in Colombia. Maduro feeds his army to stay in power so he can siphon off billions in oil revenues. Viva Bernie!

You can blame the liberals, communist sympathizers, the schools, and so forth, but I blame the voters of the over-Overwhelmingly white Anglo-Saxon state of Vermont for sending this cretin to the US Senate not just once but three times.

Bernie Sanders: The fact that this moron is even on the political stage ought to scare the hell out of every American. And it ain’t rocket science how we got here. Look no further than our educational system, first the colleges, now K-12.
