RFI reported Thursday that “the prominent Islamic scholar Tariq Ramadan has been formally charged with raping two more women, adding to two existing charges of rape. The charges were pronounced on Thursday at the end of a court hearing in Paris….Supporters of Ramadan, who is a professor of contemporary Islamic studies at Oxford’s St. Anthony’s College, have called the accusations against him part of a ‘international Zionist plot’ to blacken his name.”
Well, of course. What else could it possibly be? It couldn’t be that a cosseted Muslim academic, hailed and feted all over Europe and the United States despite the abject vacuity and sinister disingenuousness of his thought, began to indulge his worst impulses, now, could it? He couldn’t have been tempted to do so when it became clear that, in light of his value to Western authorities as a “moderate Muslim” who seemed to prop up their fantasies about the jihad threat, he would be allowed to get away with virtually anything – could he?
“Virtually anything” is actually an understatement. The allegations against Ramadan are particularly revolting; if true, he is a monstrous sadist. One of his accusers said he subjected her to “blows to the face and body, forced sodomy, rape with an object and various humiliations, including being dragged by the hair to the bathtub and urinated on.”

His sadism, however, appears to be, if the allegations are true, closely intertwined with his celebrated Islamic piety: another one of his accusers said he told her he was raping her because she didn’t wear a hijab.
He would have gotten away with it all, being just too valuable for the Western political and media elites, if it hadn’t been for the #MeToo movement. The problems arose for Ramadan only in 2017, when that movement began to gather steam and his accusers started to come forward, at which point the great reformer’s statements in response were decidedly unsatisfactory. “His last hearing,” RFI notes, “dates back to 2018 when he stunned the public by admitting to ‘consensual’ sex with his accusers, months after denying he had had no sexual contact with them.”
Since then, Ramadan has claimed to be suffering from multiple sclerosis, and has been freed on bail. He claims he will not flee France to escape justice, but we shall see. He has to hand over his passport, but that is not an insurmountable obstacle. The accusations are extremely serious, and the case is being investigated in an atmosphere of Muslim Brotherhood thuggery (Ramadan is the grandson of the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hasan al-Banna): one of his accusers has already been beaten and threatened.
Indeed, it wouldn’t be at all surprising, given his connections to all varieties of powerful people, if Ramadan were cleared of all the charges. If this happens, it would be in keeping with the duplicity that has characterized his entire career. French journalist Caroline Fourest’s illuminating book Brother Tariq: The Doublespeak of Tariq Ramadan concludes that this much-lionized putative “Muslim Martin Luther” is actually anything but a reformer: in reality, Ramadan is “remaining scrupulously faithful to the strategy mapped out by his grandfather, a strategy of advance stage by stage” toward the imposition of Islamic law in the West.
Ramadan, she explains, in his public lectures and writings invests words like “law” and “democracy” with subtle and carefully crafted new definitions, permitting him to engage in “an apparently inoffensive discourse while remaining faithful to an eminently Islamist message and without having to lie overtly — at least not in his eyes.” Ramadan, she said, “may have an influence on young Islamists and constitute a factor of incitement that could lead them to join the partisans of violence.”
Fourest was also the first to reveal, back in 2017, long before these new charges were levied, that Ramadan had at least four other victims besides the first woman who came forward, Henda Ayari. “A request for religious advice turned into a compulsive sexual relationship, sometimes consented to, often violent and very humiliating, before ending in threats.”
Fourest had evidence. “I presented it to a judge. But Tariq Ramadan scared him too much…. I am well-placed to know the violence of the networks of the Muslim Brotherhood when one stands up to ‘brother Tariq.’”
Those violent networks may yet prevail.

They are the blight to the rest of humanity. He did the right thing looking to reform the Catholic Church.
Later he did write terrible anti-semitic stuff. There won’t be a reconciliation there. Renouncing anything won’t matter. It would just be another useless apology centuries later. He’s not the hero you think he is.

I have read and studied this book and other similar writings of Luther and his followers and the charge was that the Catholic Church and the Papacy were controlled by if not populated by Jews. Luther institutionalized Jew hatred among the protestant sects in Europe culminating in the Lutheran Church aiding and abetting the rise of Hitler. Sir, the Papacy not only denounced Luther they excommunicated him and the Catholic monarchs of Europe conducted a lengthy war to destroy the heresy that he spread.

I think most Christians do realize that Martin Luther hated Jews very much. That was prominent in Catholicism. The importance of Martin Luther’s contribution is that boldly confronted error in the Roman Church. Among other things he took a wrecking ball to the belief that salvation was by good works. Salvation comes by faith in the grace God showed us by sacrificing His own perfect and sinless flesh on the Cross as the required payment of death for our sins. It is a historical fact that the veil separating the Holy of Holy from the rest of the Temple was torn down at the very moment Jesus died. No longer was it necessary in the eyes of God for men to sacrifice bulls and goats over and over to cover their sin. God did a new thing that had higher expectations that just outward obedience to the law. After ascending to heaven Jesus told His disciples to wait until the Holy Spirit was sent to live in and empower them for service. This event occurred at the next Jewish Pentecost. Jews were gathered from all over the known world. God chose this time as a witness to them. They got to see the mighty works of the disciples. Thousands of Jews believed on Jesus during this time. The witness went out to the known world.
God works through imperfect people all the time. We are all imperfect people living in very imperfect cultures.
That does not mean Martin Luther’s boldness in igniting a Reformation back, step by step, to true belief as left to us by the original, true Apostles. FYI: good works, including and especially the good work of changing one’s stinking human thinking by studying a good Bible that is based on un corrupted texts. We are called to change from being a naturally sinful man into disciples, not useless carnal Christians.

I am not now, nor have I ever been a Catholic. Many of the modern Evangelical Christians in America have been over backward sending tons of money to people that hate and them and manipulate them for some “blessing” in Israel instead of using those funds to take the good news of Jesus to every person on earth. That said, I will agree that we are and have been in the “great falling away from the truth” that the Bible tells us would happen in the end of days. We should expect it. I am not sure which Jesus you are talking about here. Some people believe Jesus will return to kill all the Christians. I do believe Apostate Christians and the lukewarm and self satisfied Laodicean Church of the end days will be in for a rude shock during Daniel’s 70 week.
Whereas I certainly do recognize the fact that Jesus is a Jew I personally believe some of these Hebrew Roots people have gone around the bend. For instance, I understand and enjoy the significance of the Feasts. Some things are for Israel and some things are for the body of Christ. Those Christians that want Trump to rebuild the Third Temple are not thinking. Do they seriously believe that the daily sacrifice of bulls and goats are superior to the what Jesus purchased for us by His once and forever sacrifice? That is wicked.
Many terrible things have been done in the name of Jesus by people who were never born again, and some who may have been, but were ignorant. It is also true that Jews supported Stalin in Russia and also the destruction of churches, murder and horrific imprisonment of Christians in the Communist Revolution that was brought to Russia by leftards in London and New York; many of them Communist leaning Jews. That does not excuse the horrors inflicted on Jews by the Catholic Church. By the way, they treated real Christians who loved the truth of God’s Words just as badly. It was all about control, power, and secular domination; things that have nothing to do with the what Jesus told us to be and do. There are wonderful Jews and none too pleasant Jews just like any other people group. I meet both kinds all the time. They all need to embrace Jesus.

The Pharisees saw themselves as a separate group of people. They were above the common people and saw that they kept to the religious laws. Scribes could interpret and regulate Jewish laws, but they did not interfere with or assume any role in the guidance of the people.
