Bigger than Vindman: Trump scrubs 70 Obama holdovers from NSC

President Trump is making good on his promises to “drain the swamp” and cut Obama-era holdovers from his staffs, especially the critical and recently controversial National Security Council.
Officials confirmed that Trump and national security adviser Robert O’Brien have cut 70 positions inherited from former President Barack Obama, who had fattened the staff to 200.
Many were loaners from other agencies and have been sent back. Others left government work.
Story continues below advertisementThe NSC, which is the president’s personal staff, was rocked when a “whistleblower” leveled charges that led to Trump’s impeachment.
Last week, one key official who testified against Trump at a House hearing on the Ukraine affair that led to impeachment was sent packing. Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman was returned to the Pentagon. His twin brother, Lt. Col. Yevgeny Vindman, was also given the boot. Trump had expressed displeasure that Alexander Vindman had testified against him when the Ukraine specialist said he did not like the phone conversation between the president and a newly elected president of Ukraine.
Since entering the White House, Trump has relied on staffs smaller than previous administrations and has noted how prior presidents had a much smaller NSC team.
O’Brien recently said that former President George W. Bush handled the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan with 100 NSC aides, a model he is instituting.
“This month, we will complete the right-sizing goal Ambassador O’Brien outlined in October, and in fact, may exceed that target by drawing down even more positions,” John Ullyot, the NSC’s senior director for strategic communications, told Secrets.

When Obama cleaned house the media fawned over his clever and business like approach to “change”
Trump will be found evil and immoral for doing the same.
What really needs to change is the media. That is something a government cannot change without being labelled totalitarian. Only the people, ME and YOU, can make that happen. Get involved. Hold the media responsible!!!

When clinton was elected he fired all the previous administration lawyers at the DOJ, and the republicans just sat there and said it was not illegal. To clinton anything was legal if he could get away with it and the republicans just blustered.

I think that he tried to be fair and gave them their chances to hang themselves first. Remember he was not a professional politician and he still had the mistaken trust that bureaucrats were honest and put their job before their politics. He is wiser now and hence the sweep. We were warned that once the impeachment farce was over that this would happen. I doubt if it will stop with the NSC as the FBI, the CIA and not a few others need a culling.

The complete Alphabet Soup of Federal Agency’s needs to be swept clean and bring an end to this behind the wall back stabbing brought to an end. No professional civil service employee should ever be promoted or placed at the head of the Alphabet Soup Federal Agency. Career employees begin to believe that they are more important then the electorate and that makes them DANGEROUS to this nation as a whole.

While I agree in general it is just not possible as >60% and often far more of bureaucrats are leftists and you cannot sack them all (what a pity!) You can work this out via the stance their unions take on matters (public servants, teachers and health worker unions are totally left). The best that could be done is to sack and gaol some prime examples to put the fear of the sack onto them and these would have to be airtight as the unions have a lot of money.

Wanna bet, you start by eliminating their job, and then give them the option to accept a position all the way across country at a substantial decrease in pay. If they decline their only other option is to quit.

When I was in the Army the Base Commander was under a DA directive to reduce and eliminate a specific number of Civil Service Jobs. Using a manpower survey, we were able to begin eliminating actual job titles and positions. As we did this we had GS 10-12’s told that if they want to remain working for the Government they had two choices, take and immediate reduction in GS rating, with the GS 10 positions being down graded to GS 7, and the GS 11 being down graded to a GS8 and the GS 12 to a GS9 There other choice was to take up and move to a base out west at their own expense. 3/4s of them chose to walk away and quit. It can be done, union or no union.

That was because someone in charge there had to have the cojones to actually do something. In the peacetime military such are uncommon as I am sure that you know and in the bureaucracy they are rare. Orders from above about a “spring clean” with a reduction in staff usually means that whoever directs and enforces the changes usually gets to pick his cronies and favourites. Much as I would love to agree with you(and that IS the truth) I have seen to much of such failed attempts. IMO ANYONE who taints his position anywhere with her or his politics is a traitor, to country, to position and to self.

Pres. Trump and hopefully Republicans in general have seen how dark, nasty and deep is the sinkhole at the end of the rabbithole of the Dem-Rat-George Soros-ian globalist banking clique alliance within the federal bureaucracy that had immense influence over the NSA, FBI and CIA! Like Judicial Watch’s Tom Fitton says it was a major coup attempt against a sitting President that was I allege, aided and abetted by 2012 First Loser Sen Willard Mitt Romney!
After the Republicans take back the government including the House of Reps in 2020, we need a constitutional amendment to mandate 2/3rds majority of the House of Reps to send over valid Articles of Impeachment that must be approved by 2/3rds of the Senate! We need to make sure this doesn’t happen again!
Also, the UK-Biden connection needs to be investigated and I believe that Sen Willard Mitt Romney’s dealings in it needs exposure too! I agree with Donald Trump Jr regarding the fate of Sen Willard Mitt Romney who needs to be exposed and buried as an influence in the GOP for his lifetime!
Admittedly, it is personal for me as I put so much energy into that Romney rat in 2012! Pam Geller can check her records of my postings back then 8 years ago which is time you can’t get back! Sad truth was that The Obama was the more sincere politician AND WE WERE ALL BEING PLAYED FOR FOOLS! Also, I lost a potential girlfriend and instead married my Mormon ex partially due to my enthusiasm for him! I also burned a friendship with a guy who tried to warn me that Ron Paul was the better candidate! Wow!
What really sucks about First Loser, Sen Willard Mitt Romney is his sanctomonious BS about how as a Senator he had to take such a high, moral road as some type of g-dly guy IN BASICALLY VOTING TO MURDER THE POLITICAL CAREER OF PRES DONALD J. Having Jesus as a Personal Savior for spiritual salvation is valid for Christians but I would say that the quality of righteousness having to do with morals and ethics is not so Sectarian. It is based on actions and Sen 2012 First Loser Willard Mitt Romney should be judged by his actions and what the results of his political actions against Pres. Trump would have been by all who call themselves partisan, Republican!

Learn from mistakes. Hindsight is always 20/20. Never view any mere mortal or some label as the perfect standard. From the Christian view point, only Christ holds that position. Mere mortals will often let you down. Don’t be so hard on yourself. It’s just the way life is. The good news is Trump survived and thrived.
God’s hand is on Trump to have survived all that he has. Any other candidate he ran against would not have survived or caved to the swamp. There is not one that would have loooked out for voters and tried to keep his promises as Trump has. He still has more work to get done and hopefully given a second term, he will get it done.

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER!
This should have been done day one. He may not have known who was who or how deep the corruptness was. Obama also unionized some of the government positions so it is tougher to get rid of them.
Trump also has the mindset to give people a chance regardless of what others have to say about them. Bolton is an example of that. He was warned NOT to hire him. There he was given good advice but other times I don’t think he is getting good advice. Regardless, this is GOOD NEWS!

On April Fools Day in 2017 my wife decided it would be a laugh to tell me that President Trump had resigned over the pressure from the Dems. Probably the worst, meanest prank anyone has ever pulled on me. It took me weeks to recover and start talking to her again, what a sucker I was. This man is truly our only chance at survival for the USA. Imagine what he could get done if the socialists and communists did not have such a foothold in our government. And finally..there is some indications that the Republicans are actually pulling together under his leadership. TRUMP 2020!!

Yes it’s only a start. Of the Federal “Senior Executive Service” there are over 9000 SES members. Obama appointed over 8000 SES members. These Obama appointees will only be reduced by Downsizing the Federal Government.
