Nikki Haley Slams Bernie Sanders Over AIPAC Boycott: ‘Go Back to Defending Castro’

Ex-US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley slammed 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders on Monday over his announced boycott of next week’s American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) conference in Washington, DC.
Sanders, Haley pointed out, “has never attended and has no clue what the organization is about or what it stands for.”
“Go back to defending [Fidel] Castro and socialist dictators,” the former South Carolina governor and potential future Republican presidential candidate added. “We will go back to defending peace, democracy, and our ally Israel.”

In a statement on Sunday, Sanders — who has emerged as the frontrunner in the ongoing contest for the Democratic nomination — said, “The Israeli people have the right to live in peace and security. So do the Palestinian people. I remain concerned about the platform AIPAC provides for leaders who express bigotry and oppose basic Palestinian rights. For that reason I will not attend their conference. As president, I will support the rights of both Israelis and Palestinians and do everything possible to bring peace and security to the region.”

Responding to the Vermont senator, AIPAC said, “Senator Sanders has never attended our conference and that is evident from his outrageous comment. In fact, many of his own Senate and House Democratic colleagues and leaders speak from our platform to the over 18,000 Americans from widely diverse backgrounds — Democrats, Republicans, Jews, Christians, African-Americans, Hispanic Americans, members of the LBGTQ+ community — who participate in the conference to proclaim their support for the US-Israel relationship.”
“By engaging in such an odious attack on this mainstream, bipartisan American political event, Senator Sanders is insulting his very own colleagues and the millions of Americans who stand with Israel,” AIPAC continued. “Truly shameful.”

Bernie beat a dead party. Turnout in Nevada was pathetically low, and Bernie got more support in Nevada in 2016. So basically, a few die-hards showed up and voted for Bernie this time. But this bodes badly for Democrat turnout in the upcoming Presidential election. [BUT see the updates on the thread below]

What are you talking about? He got 47% again this time around, which is even more remarkable considering that there are way more candidates now than compared to 2016. Not to mention he lost in Nevada in 2016, and he won this time around.

I think you are right, Mojo, I checked my figures. Turnout was NOT low, 2020 was actually higher than in 2016. And although Bernie got about 40% of the vote in 2020, he was up against only Hillary in 2016, and got 47%.
Turnout was only low in comparison to New Hampshire, and in comparison to the total registered voters in Nevada, at about 10%. But one could argue that this is common in Nevada caucuses.
So the Democrat party in Nevada is NOT dead.

Nikki Haley, the former US Ambassador to the United Nations, has more fortitude than many of her fellow Republicans or conservatives. She was a superb Ambassador, not bending to the anti-Semitic/Israel, the anti-American, corrupt, sinister front for terror, the United Nations. The Leftists, the so-called Democrat Party, loathe her. In itself, this is no shock, as she is a woman of principles, unlike the of the Democrats whose hypocritical and treasonous narrative has not altered for decades. It worsened, of course, under the great betrayer, Barack Obama.
Now, in true Democrat fashion, Sanders’ lauding, worshipping Fidel Castro’s Communist regime brought Nikki Haley’s determination, once again, to the fore. The silence from her peers is somewhat deafening. Admittedly, there are conservative, Republican peers with a hint of fortitude, old fashioned guts, and determination.
