More than 5,000 Killed, Wounded, Kidnapped Trying to Rebuild Afghanistan
In first ever public account, US reveals human cost of multi-billion effort to rebuild Afghanistan

Story continues below advertisementMore than 5,000 Americans, Afghans, and coalition service members have been killed, wounded, or kidnapped in Afghanistan since the United States began its multibillion-dollar rebuilding effort in 2002.
In the government’s first public accounting of the human cost of rebuilding Afghanistan, U.S. officials conservatively estimate that 5,135 have been killed or wounded in the 18 years since rebuilding and stabilization missions began in Afghanistan. The statistics are recorded in a report from the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, or SIGAR.
The total number of casualties “includes 2,214 killed and 2,921 wounded.” The report also “identified 1,182 individuals that were kidnapped or went missing.” The oversight organization billed its findings as the “first official accounting by an independent inspector general of the human costs of reconstruction and stabilization in Afghanistan.”
The newly released statistics are likely to anger opponents of America’s ongoing reconstruction efforts in Afghanistan. Despite the billions of taxpayer dollars poured into the reconstruction effort, the United States still has little to show for its investment.
“Unless the U.S. Government considers the human costs, the true costs of reconstruction and stabilization efforts in Afghanistan are not accurately captured,” SIGAR concluded in its report.

Forgive me men and women in the miltary but … NO MUSLIM IS or WAS WORTH THIS. You are too valuable for this. Some paid for it with their lives and others had their lives permanetly altered and we got the bill for it. How could Presidents prior to Trump do this to our military?

There is NO evangelist as fierce and fiery as an evangelist for The Religion of Atheism.
I know quite a few people that claim to be atheists. Most are rather nice people and don’t wear their religion on their sleeve. If the subject of religion arises, they simply answer that they’re an atheist and that’s as far as it goes. However, that religion’s evangelists are pushy … FAR more so than a Jehovah’s Witness or morman.

I have referred to atheist apologists as apologists and militant atheists and religious atheists… just never evangelists… LOL! Perhaps because evangel or more specifically the Greek word it comes from, εὐαγγέλιον (euangelion), specifically means good news. or the Gospel. Atheists aren’t spreading any good news.

I knew an atheist that was ALWAYS preaching. I started calling him Reverend Billy Sunday …. it really torqued him off. Every time we’d see him, we’d see who could make him turn bright red first. Hallelujah, Brother Sunday!

Moreover, when have I shown any contempt for women? I DO have contempt for women evangelists, such as you, that possess an intellect below that of an aphid. But the VAST majority of women are FAR more intelligent and better educated than you, little one.

Jesus taught people to turn away from sin and to follow him. This concept has eluded the thinking of the USA . It is supporting them to live in their erroneous Islamic ways and then supplying them with troops and money to achieve this bogus outcome – colossal waste of everything. Perhaps if they were given the opportunity, and were sincere to reject Sharia and embrace the West, THEN they might actually be worth dying for. Anything else is pissing in the wind.

We keep banging our head against a wall presuming THEY want freedom and a democracy. ISLAM is NOT compatible with either one. Worse yet, they don’t want it either.
The Arab spring has awakened fundamental Islam. ISLAM is what they want and that includes Sharia Law. You can’t put a round peg in a square hole. Even if some do want a secular government with some freedom, their elites don’t want it.
We need to cut our loses and MOVE ON! How much money and lives do we want to squander over dumb inbred people that hate you and/or don’t want what you have to offer? Muslims are not normal people!

After Afghanistain was “liberated” from the Taliban a convert to Christianity was sentenced to die for apostasy. Karsai and his government were forced to declare the Christian convert insane to avoid imposing the death penalty for apostasy on the man. Whatever happened to the Christian convert I never found out, but I doubt he’s still breathing.

Sometimes there is a third option: CONTAINMENT
It doesn’t have to be a direct war because of Nation Building; but it does NOT have to be a “surrender-withdrawal” either unlike the Russians did in the 1980s. CONTAINMENT AND AUTOMATION is the other option.
Automate with drones instead of troops. enforce TRAVEL BANS on Afghanistan and PAKISTAN. Control the borders to prevent outside actors from taking advantage like ISIS did when Obama withdrew in Iraq.
establish NO-FLY ZONES, do whatever. no one comes in or goes out. Use drones to “fumigate” the roaches when needed. Turn it into an automated kill-box.
Like a lot of things, “controlling the border” and “building walls” (so to speak) could be a solution.
I wouldn’t even announce deadlines.

Why should we be their policeman over there?
What’s in it for us?
More lives lost and maimed? More debt? More military spending for THEM?
How about just moving on, no more of their “refugees” except Christians, a travel ban and no VISAS or more immigration – chain or otherwise from these countries? I am personally tired of spending money building WALLS for them when we need a WALL COMPLETED here. Let them build their own wall. Let Europe have the “refugees” – they WANT them.
Don’t misunderstand my reply to you. I am not angry with you or anything like that. I’m just frustrated and want our involvement there to end and to move on. Let other Arab countries deal with them. Let them fight it out.

Let me word it a little differently:
How do you know that the person in front of you is a Muslim telling you that s/he is a Christian or a Christian telling you s/he is a Christian?
There are no physical traits that differentiate the two that would allow you to know.
And don’t forget that Muslims consider lying in order to further Islam as a virtue. It is called taqiyya.
Remember Barack Obama? He claims to be a Christian in spite of the fact that his school records from Indonesia identify him as a Muslim and in spite of the fact that he uses Hussein as a middle name.
I was in Iran in December 2008 and mentioned to my Muslim hosts that Obama claims to be a Christian. They fell out laughing and said that he was clearly practicing taqiyya. Why? Because his use of Hussain is an announcement of the fact that he is a Muslim. It is a way of telling Muslims that you are one of them.

Wow, I never expected that coming from you. I suppose it’s better than more US Marines and GI’s dying on the beaches of Japan’s home islands.
Some people have proposed that giving the Japanese a personal demonstration of the detonation of an A-bomb might have been sufficient to make them surrender, but considering the rabid nature of the Japanese military government there I doubt it would’ve worked.

At least JP is still a decent country and to keep it that way they better be mighty selective about who is allowed to immigrate to their country and who to direct to swim back to whatever hellhole they came from.
I remember back when I was a kid most gardeners were Japanese in SoCal, which I thought strange.
I was the only kid in my entire elementary school who had a nearly top-of-the-line Pachinko machine thanks to my Japanophile grandmother (she was a master of making those little pine trees [bonsai?]). I was really popular in my elementary school for a while off my Japanese pinball machine.

Trouble is, felix, on 9-11 they brought their problems to us. We were trying to make sure they wouldn’t be able to do it again. However, unless one has read the Koran and understands it, one will fail to defeat them. In short, “we” failed to understand the enemy. (and with the current state of affairs at West Point and the Pentagon, it looks like they are no closer to understanding it.)
