MSNBC Airs Baseless Iranian Propaganda About Dead US Soldiers

By: Peter Hasson Senior Reporter
MSNBC gave airtime to baseless Iranian propaganda alleging the Islamic Republic had killed 30 American military members in missile attacks Tuesday night.

Iran launched missile attacks on two Iraqi bases housing U.S. troops Tuesday, in retaliation for the U.S. killing notorious Iranian terrorist Qasem Soleimani. At the time this article was published, there were no known American casualties in Tuesday night’s attacks, but that didn’t stop MSNBC from giving oxygen to Iranian propaganda claiming otherwise.

MSNBC host Chris Matthews brought in NBC News Tehran bureau chief Ali Arouzi, who repeated the Iranian claims to MSNBC’s national audience. (RELATED: Hollywood Actress Rose McGowan Apologizes To Iran For Death Of Terrorist Soleimani)

“We’ve just getting reports now that a second wave of rocket attacks have been launched from Iran. The IRGC was saying that Ayatollah Khamenei, the supreme leader of this country, was in the control center coordinating these attacks. This is, uh, this bit I’m not sure about,” Arouzi said, before sharing the unverified propaganda claims, “but Iran state media is claiming that 30 U.S. soldiers have been killed in this attack. Now, this is not confirmed, this is just coming from Iranian media, but we have just stepped over the precipice, Chris.”

MSNBC did not immediately return a request for comment on the decision to air the Iranian propaganda claim.

As of the time this article was published, there were still no known U.S. casualties — much less 30.

Anyone interested in a set of brief informed and informative insights of the implications of Soleimani’s assassination would do well to go here:

https://besacenter.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/168-The-Soleimani-Killing-Initial-Assessments.pdf

The estimable Hillel Frisch makes this point, which is worth noting, particularly by those who see iran as a monolith:

The killing proves beyond doubt that the Iranian security system is riddled with informants. They knew when Soleimani left his secret hideout in Damascus, what plane he boarded, at which airport he was going to land, which vehicles he and his retinue entered upon landing, and exactly what time those vehicles were heading out of the airport.

This suggests an information flow involving tens if not hundreds of informants closely connected to the upper echelons of the Quds Force. These informants could and did provide this information to their American counterparts in real time to get the US helicopters in position for the kill.

He also claims,

To deflect popular anger away from Iran, Kata’ib Hezbollah, a major militia in the larger pro-Iranian Hashd militia conglomerate, killed an American contractor. The intention of this killing was presumably to goad the US into a retaliatory strike that would defuse the anti-Iranian demonstrations in Iraq.

Iran got more than it bargained for, and may be looking for a face-saving way of backing down.

If 30 US soldiers had been killed in that attack the mullahs, now deceased, would currently be residing in the middle of several acres of smokey molten glass. Which is what I suspect they were told via back channels just as little fat boy Kim has. So far it appears to have worked.

I have been waiting for the lazy lamestream media to repeat foreign government propaganda as factual news, and here it is. That claim of numerous dead Americans was floated in Iran to hoodwink their public who has been denied internet access to learn a different and more truthful perspective.

You know what that white stuff in on top of chicken sh*t? Just more chicken sh*t.
