Bloomberg Will Spend to Beat Trump, Even If He’s Not the Nominee

Story continues below advertisementMichael Bloomberg said Saturday he’s willing to spend a lot of money — but “hopefully not” as much as $1 billion — to help any Democratic nominee defeat President Donald Trump, even if he loses the nomination.
Bloomberg, who joined the Democratic presidential contest Nov. 24, said in an interview that he plans to keep “a chunk” of his 500-person ground game operation working to defeat Trump, regardless of who wins the primary contest.
The New York Times asked Bloomberg if he would spend $1 billion to defeat Trump and said he didn’t rule it out.
When asked about that later, he said it would “hopefully not” take that much money, but that he would support Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Tom Steyer or “whoever’s in the race.”
“I have to see as I get there,” Bloomberg said. “I would prefer them to Donald Trump and I would try to help them.”
Bloomberg is the founder and majority owner of Bloomberg LP, the parent company of Bloomberg News. He gave interviews on his campaign bus as it drove through central Texas.
The anti-Trump effort would be independent of the nominee’s campaign. Bloomberg joked that Sanders and Warren, who have criticized him for trying to “buy” the nomination, may not want his money.

Bloomberg’s business needs to be fully investigated as it may have been created by corruption at the Federal Reserve. It’s based on the Bloomberg terminals and they, in turn, became vital to bond traders when they had the exclusive and I believe remains exclusive access to daily interest rates from the Fed. How Bloomberg gained this exclusivity has never been explained, Perhaps, it should be today?

Of course, Bloomberg will not win the Dem Party’s nomination, he came too late to the race, among other reasons. But what will it say about the party if they permit Bloomberg to bankroll the candidacy of Biden, Warren or whomever? Will there be no need for fundraising? If Bloomberg wants to waste $1 billion in a futile attempt to beat President Trump in 2020, let him. It is a very foolish waste of a great deal of money. He ought to give it to the homeless instead. Think what good it could do!
Not only is he a very late arrival to the Democrat debates, he is so late he cannot even take part, he is still so low in poll numbers that he does not even get 1%, and the election is 10 months away. He won’t even be on the ballot in many states, a non starter. Its even too late to switch to Independent I think. He is a dead duck in the water!
