Under Islamic law, rape victims are tortured, imprisoned or killed unless they agree to marry their rapist. “Marry-your-rapist” bills have been seen across the Muslim world and are pushed in the name of protecting and safeguarding family “honour”.

‘Marry-your-rapist’ bill to be introduced by lawmakers in Turkey
Critics argue legislation legitimises child marriage and statutory rape

A law which would allow men accused of having sex with girls who are under 18 to avoid punishment if they marry their victims is set to be introduced to parliament in Turkey.
The controversial so-called “marry-your-rapist” bill, which lawmakers are planning to introduce to Turkish parliament at the end of January, has sparked fury among women’s rights campaigners in the country.
Critics argue the legislation, which the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) is urging the government to axe, not only legitimises child marriage and statutory rape but also paves the way for child abuse and sexual exploitation.
A similar bill was defeated in Turkey in 2016 after national and global outrage. The legislation would have only pardoned men if they had sex without “force or threat”.
United Nations agencies warned the bill would generate a landscape of impunity for child abuse and leave victims vulnerable to experiencing additional mistreatment and distress from their assailants.

Suad Abu-Dayyeh, a campaigner who specialises in the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan for Equality Now, a non government organisation which aims to promote the rights of women and girls, said it was “shocking” politicians are trying to pass a bill that “provides impunity for perpetrators of child sexual exploitation”.
She told The Independent: “I applaud the brave work of women’s rights campaigners in Turkey who are taking a stand against this discriminatory bill and pushing back again regressive forces that are seeking to remove current legal protections for girls. Similar ‘marry-your-rapist’ legal provisions have been on the statute books of countries across the Middle East and North Africa.
“Thanks to years of campaigning by women’s rights activists and lawmakers, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, and Palestine have all removed these loopholes in recent years. Rather than attempting to introduce legislation that harms women’s rights and protections, Turkish lawmakers should take heed of these advances in repealing gender discriminatory laws.”
While the legal age of consent is 18 in Turkey, a 2018 government report on child marriage estimates a total of 482,908 girls were married in the last decade.
Violence against women and girls is prevalent in Turkey – with 38 per cent of Turkish women having suffered physical or sexual violence from a partner according to the United Nations.A campaign group called We Will Stop Femicide estimates some 409 women were murdered by a partner or a family member in the country in 2017 – a stark rise from the total of 237 four years beforehand.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said equality between men and women is “against nature” at a summit in Istanbul back in 2014.
The world leader said: “You cannot put women and men on an equal footing. It is against nature.”
He urged women to have at least three children and argued a woman’s life was “incomplete” if she did not reproduce back in 2016.
“A woman who says ‘because I am working I will not be a mother’ is actually denying her feminity,” he said. “A women who rejects motherhood, who refrains from being around the house, however successful her working life is, is deficient, is incomplete”.

WOMEN IN THE QURAN
The Qur’an teaches that men are superior to women and should beat those from whom they “fear disobedience”: “Men have authority over women because Allah has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because Allah has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and send them to beds apart and beat them.” — Qur’an 4:34
The Qur’an likens a woman to a field (tilth), to be used by a man as he wills: “Your women are a tilth for you, so go to your tilth as you will” — Qur’an 2:223
It declares that a woman’s testimony is worth half that of a man: “Get two witnesses, out of your own men, and if there are not two men, then a man and two women, such as you choose, for witnesses, so that if one of them errs, the other can remind her” — Qur’an 2:282
It allows men to marry up to four wives, and have sex with slave girls also: “If you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice, two or three or four; but if you fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly, then only one, or one that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice” — Qur’an 4:3
It rules that a son’s inheritance should be twice the size of that of a daughter: “Allah directs you as regards your children’s inheritance: to the male, a portion equal to that of two females” — Qur’an 4:11
It allows for marriage to pre-pubescent girls, stipulating that Islamic divorce procedures “shall apply to those who have not yet menstruated” — Qur’an 65:4
Also, a Muslim wife may not refuse sex. A hadith depicts Muhammad saying: “If a husband calls his wife to his bed [i.e. to have sexual relation] and she refuses and causes him to sleep in anger, the angels will curse her till morning” (Bukhari 4.54.460).
And: “By him in Whose Hand lies my life, a woman can not carry out the right of her Lord, till she carries out the right of her husband. And if he asks her to surrender herself [to him for sexual intercourse] she should not refuse him even if she is on a camel’s saddle” (Ibn Majah 1854).
Islamic law stipulates: “The husband may forbid his wife to leave the home…because of the hadith related by Bayhaqi that the Prophet…said, ‘It is not permissible for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day to allow someone into her husband’s house if he is opposed, or to go out of it if he is averse” (Reliance of the Traveller m10.4).

A similar bill was defeated in Turkey in 2016 after national and global outrage. The legislation would have only pardoned men if they had sex without “force or threat”.
That one pardons men but NOT women.
I thought the woman was lashed for the rape.
Does this latest one only pardon men and still punish the woman who was raped?
Or is it a bill for the woman to avoid punishment and with the additional punishment of marrying her rapist to avoid being lashed for being raped without consent?

Over on wikiislam.net there’s a testimonial of a Turkish woman was was forced into a polygamous marriage to a Turkish muslum koranutan living in Germany — but that’s not the most striking part about her testimonial. She states her sister got pregnant out of wedlock and despite the fact her boyfriend desperately wanted to marry her she was subjected to an honor killing in “secular” Turkey. No one was ever punished for the honor killing despite practically everyone in the village knowing about it.

Marry your rapist, how romantic, but the muslum world is always portrayed as being romantic — just look at the fairytale islam portrayed in Aladdin. And what woman or girl wouldn’t want to marry their rapist? Islam is like an insane asylum for the mind.

The first problem in the Turks twisted views on enacting legislation regarding
rape of underage girls – is not the fact that younger and younger children will
then be subject to rape. The first problem is the HUGE disregard for the
female’s free will and opinion on the matter – as if she were some kind of
animal that could be hog tied and manhandled in any way he likes.
That attitude toward females is pure Islam. In America, legislation regarding
actual animals has more regard for what they are thinking and feeling – than
that stupid and savage rape law before the Turkish parliament.

Yes – That is Western law. But Erdogan wants Sharia Law in which
women are treated according to his Islamic belief that they are not
equal to men. And, therefore, women may be grabbed and hog tied
like any other animal and raped – and what she thinks about that
doesn’t matter at all.
The only thing that matters is that male urges to rape are encouraged
by Turkish parliamentary law – as long as the fiend is willing to marry
his victim.

God created Eve out of the flesh from Adam’s side; not from beneath his foot. The Bible establishes a workable line of authority in which the man is designed to be the head of the family. BUT he is to cherish his wife and listen to her feminine viewpoint that was created to be different and complementary to his own. He is to honor and protect his family. We see in the Bible how much Jesus honored women. And many of them honored Him. It set a new standard in the treatment of women.
