MSNBC anchor Chris Matthews on Wednesday night compared deceased Iranian terror master Qassem Soleimani to Elvis Presley and Princess Diana.

When Princess Diana died, for example, there was a huge emotional outpouring,” Matthews said. “Elvis Presley in our culture—it turns out that this general we killed was a beloved hero of the Iranian people to the point where—look at the people, we got pictures up now—these enormous crowds coming out. There’s no American emotion in this case, but there’s a hell of a lot of emotion on the other side.”
Soleimani led the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps which trained, funded, and armed Iran-sympathetic terrorist groups in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, and around the Middle East, killing thousands, including hundreds of Americans.

“Should our leaders know what they’re doing when they kill somebody?” Matthews asked Rep. Joaquin Castro (D., Texas).
Castro replied that Trump’s strategy of pulling out of the nuclear deal and putting pressure on Iran has failed.
“They very much could have anticipated that Iranians would react in this way, both the Iranian public but also that the government would strike back,” Castro said. “This speaks to a much larger issue, Chris, which is the president has had a very chaotic and erratic foreign policy, especially with respect to Iran.”
Matthews isn’t the only cable news anchor to compare Soleimani to beloved figures in the West. CNN’s Anderson Cooper compared Soleimani to French president Charles de Gaulle, a leader of the French resistance against Nazi occupation during World War II.

Thank God we have a life-long sober President Trump.
Life-long sobriety and daily hard work with focus on goals are the reasons he makes every decision as if by providence.

Oh I don’t know Chris gratitude is an emotion, one I feel quite strongly. Gratitude for God’s establishment of a leader willing to protect his own. Gratitude for justice dispensed on this mass murderer so his killing is finished. As to the funeral turn out; in Iran you’d go too, even if you hated him. That’s because if you refused his security force would jail you and possibly your whole family. Then they’d torture y’all until you decided to get in line. Come to think of it, that’s pretty much what most of your leftist overlords have in mind for us all…

I think it overstates the case to suggest that the Democrats believe Soleimani is “innocent.”
It’s more that they find themselves in a bit of a bind – they dislike America, and so they appreciate – and respect America’s enemies.
Particularly when that enemy is “brown skinned” – or Muslim.
It’s also worth noting that with Obama in the White House, and a degenerate harpy next in line, the achievements of gay marriage, abortion-on-demand and affirmative action writ large heralded a leftist future: the Left believed that they had finally broken through – and was anticipating the prospect of some real open-field running.
Then Trump appeared, and the shock of unexpected, almost cataclysmic defeat was too much for them. It unhinged them.
Matthews is just one – of many, who has never recovered.
But the country is recovering – albeit a slow, painful recovery, and that too represents a profound existential threat for them.
Quite frankly, I don’t think they ever will recover.

It takes a really special kind of stupidity to glorify a man who was in fact a terrorist who created an alliance of terror groups across the Middle East and was responsible for the death of thousands.

there have been many democrats describing soleimani in glowing terms. the democrats love this guy. he kills hundreds of Americans and they love him. i think they love him because he kills Americans. it makes you wonder what ties the democratic party has with this guy. obama gave iran billions of dollars to fund terrorist attacks on Americans and soleimani was iran’s chief terrorist.

All of those people coming out is a testament to the 30% unemployment rate in Iran – not love for Solemani!
I suspect that the government may be withholding their welfare checks if they do not go to these protests. The government there also gives government workers time off to attend protests. And they have the power to demand the same from private companies concerning their workers. Don’t forget – the rule is whatever the mullah’s say it is when they say it!
The size of these crowds does not mean that these people love Solemani! It is actually too many people on quick notice and having been to Iran myself it is hard to believe that a populace that hates it own government as much as they do would come out with this much support. Nearly everyone I met was on a waiting list to get out by either immigrating to the US, Canada or Australia. And they were all Muslims BTW who all professed in “hating” religion.
