McConnell rips Pelosi for impeachment delay, says Dems ‘afraid’ to transmit ‘shoddy’ articles

By Adam Shaw | Fox News December 19, 2019:

Mitch McConnell: Dems setting ‘toxic precedent’ with predetermined partisan outcome

Speaking on impeachment, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says House Democrats are conducting “most unfair impeachment inquiry in modern history.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell set the stage Thursday for a potentially bruising fight between the leadership of the two chambers over impeachment, as he tore into Nancy Pelosi for “shoddy work” and said Democrats may be “too afraid” to send the articles to the Senate after the House speaker abruptly held off on transmitting them.

“This particular House of Representatives has let its partisan rage at this particular president create a toxic new precedent that will echo well into the future,” McConnell said on the floor, accusing Democrats of giving into “temptation” with their impeachment vote while challenging their handling of the articles in the aftermath.

McConnell’s remarks came the morning after House Democrats voted to impeach President Trump for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress in relation to his July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

McConnell decried the effort, for which no Republicans voted, as “the most rushed, least thorough, and most unfair impeachment inquiry in modern history.” It taps into long-standing complaints by Republicans that the impeachment has trampled over minority rights in the House, and that Democrats were pursuing an outcome they have preordained before Trump was even sworn into office.

After an impeachment in the House, the articles are normally sent over to the upper chamber for an impeachment trial. Yet in the latest twist, Pelosi has indicated that she may not send over articles of impeachment yet — until she gets reassurances about the Senate process.

“We’ll make a decision… as we go along.” Pelosi told reporters, adding that “we’ll see what the process will be on the Senate side.”

“We have acted,” Pelosi continued, repeatedly refusing to commit to sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate. “Now, they’ll understand what their responsibilities are, and we’ll see what that is.”

Pelosi insisted that Republicans would need to run a fair trial if the matter made its way to the Senate, without explaining what exactly she was seeking.
Pelosi hints she may delay sending impeachment articles to SenateVideo

While the move could be a way of trying to draw some concessions from McConnell, it may also be a play stop a potentially damaging Senate trial altogether, in which the Republican-dominated chamber could call witnesses such as former Vice President Joe Biden, his son Hunter, and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif.

It would also leave Trump with an awkward status quo in which he is impeached, but cannot claim exoneration in a Senate trial — in which he would be widely expected to win acquittal. However, it also risks dragging impeachment out deep into 2020, just as some polls indicate the public is souring on the process.

McConnell accused Pelosi of suggesting “that House Democrats may be too afraid to even transmit their shoddy work product to the Senate.”

McConnell is expected to meet with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., but any delay in the House could lead to McConnell refusing to meet with Schumer, giving the excuse that there are no articles for them yet to discuss since they have not been transmitted.

Trump, meanwhile, attacked the “do nothing Democrats” for wanting to “do nothing” with the impeachment articles.

“I got Impeached last night without one Republican vote being cast with the Do Nothing Dems on their continuation of the greatest Witch Hunt in American history,” he tweeted. “Now the Do Nothing Party want to Do Nothing with the Articles & not deliver them to the Senate, but it’s Senate’s call!”

“The Senate shall set the time and place of the trial.” If the Do Nothing Democrats decide, in their great wisdom, not to show up, they would lose by Default!” he added

In his remarks, McConnell said that the Senate’s duty is to rise to the occasion on matters as grave as impeachment and to give the nation some stability.

“The framers built the Senate to provide stability… To keep partisan passions from boiling over,” he said. “Moments like this are why the United States Senate exists.”

In this case the Dems instead of finding crimes and misdemeanors, they missed da wiener.

JUST START THE SENATE PHASE WITHOUT HER!

Brietbart rightly points that out:
“Unfortunately for them, the Senate can act, regardless — and would vote to acquit.”
“Article I, Section 3 says: “The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments.”

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/12/18/pollak-senate-can-acquit-even-if-house-doesnt-transmit-articles-of-impeachment-constitution/

The Senate does not need the consent of the house to open impeachment trials.

Republicans are justified in putting a quick end to impeachment.
Because the Democrats are already planning on impeaching the president again, even if he’s acquitted.

“There is no limit on the number of the times the Senate can vote to convict or not [convict] a president. No limit to the number of times a House can vote to impeach, or not, a president,” Green said on Dec. 5.

That’s when the Republicans can charge the Dimms with “abuse of process”.

Nope…..because once they do that they give credibility to the clown show they put on. According to a Dim scholar….if they don’t send it to the Senate…..there is no impeachment. It dies on the vine…..like everything else the Dimms do.

The thing is a trial is unnecessary if the house doesn’t bring it’s charges forward. If the House doesn’t actually bring the charges forward then they haven’t actually impeached the president.

Having said that, they can certainly start investigating the witnesses for perjury and for debunking the house’s charges. And, not sure what it takes to take action against the sedition that is being engaged in by many of the Democrats, but that seems to be in order as well. The Democrats have been trying to impeach Trump purely because they wan’t to overthrow his presidency. That is sedition. And those taking part in such activity must at least be sanctioned or removed from committees because they are at best destructive to the democratic process.

After listening to this speech and pondering on what it was I’ve heard, I feel I should invest a little time in perhaps raising the eyes of concerned American conservatives by this studied observation.

In the spirit of the late great BBC reporter Alistair Cook, let’s call this my Letter to America.

The year 2016 is now revealing itself to have been a truly watershed year in the affairs of two great western nations, Britain and America, because in that year, first in June with the Brexit vote and later that summer and into the Autumn with the Presidential campaign, it became clearer that something quite revolutionary was being witnessed and that was that despite all the globalist bankers, progressive politicians, outraged snowflakes, rock stars, Hollywood and more informed pundits on our screens lecturing us as to which way we must vote than you could shake a stick at, the ordinary people had finally had enough of the continuation of the established juggernaut of the progressive agenda and overthrew the whole self interested, self serving lot.

Let’s refresh our memories as to what the issues really were {with minor differences} on both sides of the pond.

Loss of national sovereignty to supranational governing bodies beyond either check or balance by electorates.

The offshoring of whole industries to low cost countries with the subsequent destruction of working communities at home, feelings of worth, all social cohesion and wealth.

Seemingly unfettered illegal immigration of economic migrants we as established societies were informed we must accept and could not and should not return. The resulting imported murderous violence was airelly dismissed as a price worth paying for this enrichment.

International competition for our own work driving down wages, destroying prospects for advancement for the displaced natives and all this linked to new zero hours contracts or jobs which made even owning your own home unrealistic and finally the complete indifference to our calls for redress of our many justified grievances by our out of touch political elites.

In both Britain with three and a half years of Remainer obstructions and rejection of a democratic mandate to leave the EU by political and hostile elites and American leftists and progressives with their “issues” like transgender toilets and open borders, we are witnesses to nearly four years of the largest most sustained temper tantrum by spoiled rich brats and their progressive left wing political puppet masters anyone can remember.

We, the much insulted and ridiculed ordinary loyal Brits have at last prevailed in these dying days of 2019, and next year Trump, after being elected in 2016 despite everything, is going to confirm what I have written by thrashing off the court those now in opposition to him in the biggest popular vote and affirment in years.

Get in the booze, our futures are looking brighter because their mold {and our straight jacket} is broken

Excellent post. Let me add this one thing:

MORE THAN 100,000 DACA APPLICANTS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED—MURDER, RAPE, DUI
By Judicial Watch, November 19, 2019:

More than 100,000 illegal immigrants who requested a special Obama-era amnesty for adults who came to the U.S. as children have criminal histories, according to an alarming report released this month by the government. Offenses committed by the illegal aliens seeking protection, benefits and rights under the policy known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) include murder, rape, weapon and assault charges. DACA has shielded nearly 800,000 illegal aliens under the age of 31 from deportation and allowed them to obtain work permits and drivers licenses. Obama launched the outrageous measure through executive order in 2012 to help children who came to the U.S. “through no fault of their own.” The Trump administration tried to end DACA in 2017 but open borders groups sued to keep it going and now the Supreme Court is set to decide the matter.
Regardless of how the high court may rule, the fact remains that a big chunk of DACA applicants have arrest records, according to the figures released by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Homeland Security agency that administers the nation’s lawful immigration system. The stats show that nearly 110,000 DACA requestors out of nearly 889,000 had arrest records, accounting for 12% of applicants. “Offenses in these arrest records include assault, battery, rape, murder and driving under the influence,” USCIS writes in a statement announcing the report. Here’s another disturbing fact; of approved DACA requestors with an arrest, a whopping 85% (67,861) were arrested right before the U.S. granted them amnesty. Nearly 25,000 DACA recipients with arrests had multiple arrests and 218 had more than 10 arrests. Incredibly, around one-fourth of the illegal immigrants with more than 10 arrests were approved by the government as of last month. In all, the government reveals that it has approved 79,398 DACA requestors with arrest records. Not all the delinquents are approved, the figures show. More than 100,000 with criminal arrests were denied or terminated.
Most of the arrested DACA approvals involve driving infractions and immigration related civil and criminal offenses, but thousands were granted amnesty after committing serious crimes. Nearly 8,000 illegal immigrants granted protection under DACA committed theft or larceny, the records show, and nearly 7,000 drug-related offenses. More than 4,000 were apprehended for driving under the influence, 3,421 for battery and 3,308 for assault. Thousands of others rewarded with DACA committed vandalism, burglary, offenses against children and weapons crimes. Hundreds of others were approved for DACA despite arrests for sexual abuse and rape, kidnapping or trafficking, hit and run, embezzlement and a variety of other serious offenses. Fifteen illegal aliens with murder charges got DACA as well as 15 street gang members and two arrested for child pornography. Most of the DACA candidates were arrested between the age of 19 and 22 though tens of thousands were also arrested between 23 and 26, well into adulthood. Mexicans account for the overwhelming majority of DACA recipients arrested (91,272) followed by El Salvador (4,998), Honduras (4,597) and Guatemala (4,304).

I don’t want to hear anymore about the poor “whittle kids” of DACA.

Also, you all might like to check the list of your representatives who signed a letter of support for CAIR…..if your representative is on this list….let them hear from you. Search it under:

Those stats on the criminality of your economic migrants echo the experience of people on my side of the pond lady warrior and by the way I’m in the UK but I understand how you feel about conservatives supporting CAIR, whatever are they thinking ?

A merry Christmas to you and a happy new year.

Thank you. Poppey….I have always loved the Brits.
Sick about what Khan is doing to London. Interesting to note in the last Star Trek movie the villain’s name was Khan.
I always had the UK on my bucket list, but as a senior I don’t think I want to risk being a victim of acid thrown in my face by ME women or a knife stabbing on the London Bridge.
I think it was in the fall of 2018 a couple of clueless young women from the North landed in London….so excited they were going to attend college in London…within to 2 days of arriving a ME woman threw acid in their faces….disfiguring them for lie…..needless to say they were rushed back home to America for treatments.

I wish you and all Brits a peaceful, joyful Christmas and New Years…..and I keep remembering this old saying…..”this too shall pass.”

…and congrats on Boris staying power…..we see him as a Brit Trump. :0)

According to a Democrat scholar I saw on Fox yesterday, if Pukelosi doesn’t pass off the articles of impeachment to the Senate……there is and was no impeachment.
It has to go to the Senate or they just put on a “play” like Schiff did by making up a story about the conversation between Trump and Zelensky…..

I am not kidding when I say these people have serious mental and cognitive issues…it’s starting to get scary that they are in our government.
