Hamas top dog Leader threatens to rain rockets on Tel Aviv ‘for 6 months’

Hamas Leader Threatens to Rain Rockets on Tel Aviv ‘for 6 months’

Breaking Israel News, November 11, 2019:

Story continues below advertisement

Leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip Yahya Sinwar warned Israel on Monday that the terrorist organization could turn its cities into “ghost towns” and has enough rockets to fire on Tel Aviv “for six months in a row,” Ynet reported.

“We have heard the threats Israeli leaders made towards us, but we will still make them curse the day they were born,” said Sinwar.

“Various intelligence agencies are trying to undermine the stability in the Gaza Strip,” he said, adding that Hamas has “many secret tools to counter the attempts made by Israeli intelligence to infiltrate Gaza.”

Sinwar also said, according to the report, that if Israel launches a ground operation in Gaza it faces “hundreds of thousands” of traps and “hundreds of kilometers” of attack tunnels at Hamas’s disposal.

The Hamas warning comes after Israeli fighter jets struck Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip early Saturday after Palestinian terrorists fired a barrage of rockets at Israel from the coastal enclave. The IDF said it had targeted the Hamas sites after Palestinian terrorist groups fired 10 rockets into Israel on Friday night.

Israel is more than capable to handle that.
No worries!

Opinion: What J Street really is
J Street thinks it knows what’s best for Israel, spending its time and money besmirching the Jewish State.

By David M. Weinberg, JNS
November 3, 2019

When it was founded some 10 years ago, J Street claimed to be a “pro-Israel and pro-peace” organization. That was taken to mean partnering with the mainstream Israeli political left to build support in Washington for a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians.

Since then, J Street has morphed into an anti-Israel organization. J Street spends its time and money besmirching Israel, smearing AIPAC and other leading American Jewish organizations, boosting former President Barack Obama’s dangerous deal with Iran (and now trying to bring it back), and supporting political candidates for whom BDS is a badge of honor.

Its campus arm, J Street U, has become a primary vehicle for conveying the most poisonous messages about Israel to students, acting to block student participation in Birthright and actively campaigning against support for Israel at American universities.
,,,
This is a shocking, contemptible new low for J Street: actively campaigning to cut U.S. military aid to Israel. Even the most-unfriendly-to-Israel and pro-Palestinian U.S. president ever, Barack Obama, didn’t seek to harm Israel’s security by cutting military aid to Israel. Just the opposite. To his credit, Obama increased military aid to Israel and signed an agreement to guarantee the aid for a decade.

Of course, this was part of Obama’s campaign to snow Israel over the ruinous Iran deal. And Obama fiercely pressured Israel regarding settlements too. But he never conditioned U.S. military aid on Israel’s bending to Washington’s dictates regarding peace diplomacy.

In other words, J Street is less protective of Israeli security than Obama was.

Alas, J Street is getting results. At its Washington conference this week, several Democratic presidential candidates cozied up to J Street’s foul formula, including Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, and South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg. They each said they were open to cutting or conditioning U.S. military aid to Israel as a way of forcing Israel to bend to their will on the conflict with the Palestinians.

Sanders said he would transform some U.S. aid to Israel into humanitarian aid for Gaza “on the first day of his administration because we have a right to demand respect for human rights and democracy.” That’s right: “Uncle Bernie” wants to take money that Israel uses to defend itself against terrorists and instead give it to the terrorists.

To this, add the cabal of congressional Democrats who back the boycott Israel movement (reps. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota), and others (like reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Ro Khanna of California) who have said that U.S. aid should be used to pressure Israel.

J Street loves them all for their “courage.”

In other words, instead of helping moderates in the Democratic camp responsibly steer the discourse on foreign policy and Israel in useful directions, J Street is egging on the radicals who seek confrontation with Israel and who would effectively empower Hamas to kill more Israelis.

It is further worth noting the pious spiritual claptrap with which J Street weaponizes its confrontation with Israel. J Street conference speakers earnestly broadcast their “profound” Jewish and “spiritual” identities in order to besmirch the mainstream Jewish and Israeli publics and drive a distancing in U.S.-Israel relations. They seem to need to salve their tortured American Jewish progressive souls by attacking Israel.

And they call this “pro-Israel.”…

It is very hard to watch the lunacy that seems to be prevalent
today throughout this world. Between the sham impeachment process (as no Constitutional
or American crime occurred that would even justify an inquiry), which has
created so much divisiveness here, and with the continuing onslaught of the
Jihadists, and with the conflict in the Middle East, with it becoming more
certain that a two state solution just will never happen, and with the problems
involving the Chinese and North Korea, the world has become one depressing
place to live in. When you superimpose the fact that the left is falsely blaming
all of the craziness on Trump, and it seems that the political parties are “fighting
a civil war,” it has become very hard for us right thinking people to keep our
own sanity. This article reaffirms the great mistake of the Israeli’s in giving
up Gaza to begin with. The intention of those who control that enclave is
clearly violence to Israel, and there seems no way to end this enmity. I
question whether Israel has any choice but to do what is necessary to take back
Gaza and find some solution that can humanly treat its non-combatant residents.
The turmoil has to end somehow, and our leftist leaders are adding fuel to the
conflict. We have here in the states stupid leaders, who cannot deal with
reality and they say only what will generate them votes, never accepting the
reality and supporting our closest ally.

What is the Gaza Strip but a fulfillment of the two state solution? It’s not like Israel controls Gaza — as the constant rocket fire makes abundantly clear.

I- you too, I will guess- live in a country that nuked two cities in a country with which we were at war. An enemy that was on its last legs. Americans were, and for the most part are, fine with that. From that, I infer it’s merely a matter of whose ox is being gored.

Israel fights with ROE that prefers to accept casualties among its own soldiers than see them among enemy non-combattants, most of whom cheer the murder of Jews. Israel should reverse that policy.

Your first paragraph is absolute rubbish. I suggest that you read the casualty estimates for the conquering of Japan. Then do read the plans for the invasion of japan and the Japanese preparations for the only three possible landing sites and the sheer number of available kamikaze aircraft for each site.(this time they would go for the troop transports not the warships and look at what one bomb did to hundreds of soldiers in the Falkland war) Then look at the psychiatric casualties in the USN that were beginning to overwhelm medical staff and the accelerating suicide rate amongst sailors. Those bombs saved between 16 and 18 million lives: the >one million expected allied casualties and the 16-18 million Japanese who were prepared to fight using men women and children for ever metre of Japanese soil. Bushido was inculcated into everyone . Perhaps you should talk to the few remaining soldiers and airmen on their way to Japan when the war ended as they will tell you just how relieved they were as they knew. What the soviets did to the Kwantung army was totally impossible in Japan(terrain)
You are simply regurgitating the standard communist inspired rhetoric about WW2. I am so disappointed with you. As all of this rubbish is the same as the current antiMcCarthyism that pours out of the left and poor McCarthy had NO idea that it was 10x worse than he thought as it was the bureaucracy that was most affected. Diana west and https://bigthink.com/paul-ratner/34-years-ago-a-kgb-defector-described-america-today
I can agree with the second paragraph as wars are about winning as cheaply as possible WRT YOUR casualties not the enemy’s. addendum I am sorry if I appear so harsh but your opinions while often bleeding heart, are usually sensible but this one was not. The bombs were totally justified and even after Nagasaki it was Hirohito who forced surrender NOT the military.

Your first paragraph is absolute rubbish. I suggest that you read the casualty estimates for the conquering of Japan.

The estimates for one million American casualties for a land invasion were at best worst case analyses. You are simply uncritically repeating (post) wartime propaganda and presenting a false dichotomy. See Ref 1 or 2 below.

Moreover, I never suggested a ground invasion of the Japanese mainland. That I did seems to be an unwarranted assumption on your part. Responding to a comment you dislike by attributing a sentiment to the commenter that he never articulated is a sadly common way of responding on this site. I did not even express opposition to Truman’s decision to drop the atomic bombs. However, Truman did not weigh the alternatives. Per Ref 2:

The top American military leaders who fought World War II, much to the surprise of many who are not aware of the record, were quite clear that the atomic bomb was unnecessary, that Japan was on the verge of surrender, and—for many—that the destruction of large numbers of civilians was immoral. Most were also conservatives, not liberals. Adm. William Leahy, President Truman’s Chief of Staff, wrote in his 1950 memoir I Was There that “the use of this barbarous weapon at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was of no material assistance in our war against Japan.”

” Adm. William “Bull” Halsey Jr., Commander of the US Third Fleet, stated publicly in 1946 that “the first atomic bomb was an unnecessary experiment…. It was a mistake to ever drop it…. [the scientists] had this toy and they wanted to try it out, so they dropped it…” [Robert Oppenheimer opposed it- LS]

Gen. Dwight Eisenhower, for his part, stated in his memoirs that when notified by Secretary of War Henry Stimson of the decision to use atomic weapons, he “voiced to him my grave misgivings, first on the basis of my belief that Japan was already defeated and that dropping the bomb was completely unnecessary, and secondly because I thought that our country should avoid shocking world opinion by the use of a weapon whose employment was, I thought, no longer mandatory as a measure to save American lives…”

It’s not even clear that the Japanese surrendered on account of the destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They were keenly aware of Russia’s presence, and, given equal terms, preferred to surrender to the Americans.

Perhaps you could consider Alperowitz’s arguments in a serious way before you dismiss my comment as “absolute rubbish”, you snippy bitch.

1. https://www.nytimes.com/1995/07/30/books/did-we-need-to-drop-it.html

2. https://www.garalperovitz.com/2015/08/%EF%BB%BFthe-war-won-hiroshima-generals-dropped-bomb-knew/

P.S. By the way, I have spoken to soldiers who fought in WWII in the Pacific. One of whom, who died three years ago, was a counter-intel officer during the occupation of Japan. He would have been on the invading force had there been a land invasion of Honshu, and was grateful that that possibility did not materialize. He was, however, critical of Truman’s decision to drop the bomb. He also said, as far as the US Army could tell, there was no conspiracy among the Japanese to thwart the occupation.

P.P.S.
wars are about winning as cheaply as possible WRT YOUR casualties not the enemy’s.

I did not say that, either.

Gee after Okinawa and Iwo Jima I have nothing but contempt for your support of an invasion of the home islands of Imperial Japan. The two WW2 vets I knew had no desire to go fight the Japanese after fighting the Germans. While the IJN was dead in the water, many Japanese fighter aircraft and special kamikaze submarines/torpedoes were squirreled away for use in kamikaze attacks if the US invaded the home islands.

BTW as many people were killed in the fire bombings of Dresden as in Hiroshima or Nagasaki. Funny how that doesn’t bother your crass sensibilities.

I implied no such thing. It is simply a measure of the narrowness of your perspective that you think I did.

There is really no point to trying to have a reasoned discussion with you, Michelle: anything that falls outside your hardly considered perspective is “revisionist rubbish”, even though it was articulated by people in responsible positions at the time.

I have seen no signs that you have considered anything outside your purview, and you show every evidence of having no inclination to do so.

Suffice it is to say, diplomatic means should have been attempted. There was opportunity to do so, and the Japanese had actually signalled a willingness to discuss surrender terms. But Truman could not get past FDR’s hastily and ill-consider policy of unconditional surrender (which, without consulting his advisers or discussing it with Churchill, he declared at, or immediately after, the Casablanca summit). That policy may well have prolonged the war for a year.
.

The Japanese indicated they wanted to retain the Emperor in any surrender. Truman would not even entertain negotiation. Yes, America was exhausted with the war, and wanted it to end as soon as possible. But a few more weeks of diplomacy, possibly inviting some Japanese nuclear scientists for a discussion, would have been in order to avoid using those awful weapons against hapless civilians. You betray an utter lack of humanity by your unwillingness to consider alternatives. I note that you have no response to Adm Leahy’s and other senior officers comments on the usefulness of the atomic bombs.

You have a very limited mind, Michelle.

No, Michelle, that is not what I did. An ad hominem attack avoids addressing a person’s contention, but focusing solely on the (alleged) character of the person making the claim. But I did address your specific points (such as they were specific). True, I criticized your thinking process, and perhaps that was unnecessary, but it was in the context of addressing your point. I was hoping it might prompt you to reflect (a process that seems notably lacking in your comments).

I don’t think you know what an ad hominem attack is. But nothing is more revealing of the limitations of your thinking that your underlying assumptions and logic:

1. The only alternatives for endng WW II were a ground invasion of Japan or nuking its cities;

2. Liatris has questioned the wisdom of nuking Japan’s cities;

3. Ergo Liatris “IMPLIED” we should have launched a ground invasion of Japan.

And you want to charge me with “rubbish”! Is the error of your syllogism truly beyond your ken?

Both of your “references” are revisionist rubbish which is appropriate after what I deemed your post. Any and everyone associated with the “bomb” was made to feel guilty BY the constant pressure of the western Left. Yet it was ONLY nukes that stopped WW3 from starting in 1948.
I quite believe that many of those out of range of the fire and not actually there could make such idiotic, virtue signalling comments (to dodge the potential flak)as even then it was common. But to actually believe it?
Come on surely you must know something about high command, politicians and politics as no one wants to be seen as holding the hot potato that the nukes were sure to become.
As soon as they were used the USA was made to feel guilty. I say RUBBISH!
Stalin killed more than 14x as many in one year. Hitler in the month it took to cleanse the gypsy camp. No one in the Left says anything about Stalin or Turkey or islam.
Why do you totaly ignore the massive Leftist campaign that started IMMEDIATELY post Nagasaki to make nukes and their use(but ONLY by the west..the USSR killed thousands of its own troops to see what radiation did) seem dreadful when the USSR was at the same time well underway in its own Manhattan? It seems that every man and his dog involved has published a mea culpa with the notorious exeption of the traitors there. Notice the pattern ? They were MADE to feel guilty by such as you. Iran WILL use nukes once it has them or do you disagree. Answer please?
I also advise you to actually go and check some facts published at the time instead of using 3rd hand leftist sources. I do love how you used the old Leftist trick of “wartime propaganda” as the basis to deny harsh military realities of the time.Nothing you have posted has made me think that you know ANYTHING about the subject and no quick google/bing search will help you here as it requires extensive reading of NON revisionist texts and conversations with those involved
Japan was essentially strategically defeated but had NO intention of stopping the war. They would ahve been happy to allow 20 million to starve to death to continue it. You have NO idea.It was not a football match where you all troop off at the end friends again with the score 0-0. Japan had a lot to answer for and was still attacking ships and army remnants were still fighting all over the Pacific. The number of allied lives saved I quoted IGNORED the cost in allied lives that it woud cost to take back Malaya, the East Indies, the remnants in new Guinea and hundreds of other places and thailand , let alone china. That could have pushed the casualty bill another 100 -300,000. The surrender of Bougainville and Rabaul astonished allied
intelligence officers in how little they actually knew of the numbers of troops and the quality of the defenses there. All ignored by leftist fools.
You always write such leftist garbage with nary a clue about the reality of the situation at the time. A clue question: in the middle of a harsh and difficult firefight with bullets zipping past you constantly an enemy soldier puts his hands up as he has run out of ammunition. What do you do?
Answer please!
WRT your last point: I did not say that you did…that was what I said and it was a statement of fact not opinion.

THE PEACE QUANDARY in Israel
Hamas shows exactly why Israeli politics are gridlocked right now. Everyone agrees that the endless threats against Israel must end, but no one agrees about how to do that. Iran is a growing threat because Hezbollah, their proxy, are building up thousands of missiles on the Lebanese border. Iranian missiles are getting increasingly precise, as we saw in their attack on the Saudi oil fields. And appeasing the Palestinians and Israeli Arabs does not work. Israelis are frustrated that Bibi can’t/won’t ‘fix’ the problems. As war becomes increasingly likely, everyone bickers about what to do.

But none of this is Bibi’s fault, and if he had clear support to blast Israel’s enemies, he would do it.
