I believe it is very important to be familiar with the Old Testament to fully understand and appreciate the New Testament. The Old Testament, directly shows God’s nature. From the Christian standpoint, we are no longer under the law but that doesn’t mean we can claim belief in Christ and go on a sinning rampage either. From the Christian stand point, Christ was the final sacrifice for our inability to perfectly carry out His commandments and belief in Him is required. Since is impossible to live a perfect life in any form, blood sacrifices were performed for atonement in the Old Testament and that is why Christians don’t perform sacrifices for atonement in the New Testament. Christians are not under the law because Christ paid the price.

I have never heard of your interpretation before. Can you point to something in the New Testament that suggests what you believe? Within Christianity there is debate on pre, post and mid tribulation but I have not heard of your interpretation that excludes Christ as a requirement. Islam, which steals allot from the Old Testament and New Testament, believes something similar. Muslims do recognize Christ as a prophet but deny His immaculate conception, death and resurrection. Is this what attracted you to Islam and the Old Testament legalese that goes with it? Or do I have you confused with someone else on being attracted to Islam and then leaving it?

Obviously you don’t need to answer to me. Maybe it’s just something for you to think about. Christ was the only one that perfectly fulfilled His commandments. I have to admit, I am not in the perfection league! He paid my price – a ransom for many, as stated in Matt 20:28, Mark 10:25, 1 Timothy 2:6)

Allot of people just love John 3:16! They conveniently forget about John 3:18.

[16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

[17] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved.

[18] He that believeth on him is not condemned:
but he that believeth not is condemned already,

If you believe a condition for His return is being obedient to His commandments, you are tragically mistaken. He will return, gather up His own and then, hopefully you will not experience it, but other nonbelievers will experience WRATH like this earth has never seen before. The passages you point to were directed to the Jews under a
theocracy. You need to read the New Testament. Passages you refer to were only directed to his chosen people, the Jews!

Even the OLD Testament points to a Messiah with NO PRECONDITION of OBEDIENCE. In fact the OPPOSITE is stressed. What will spark His return is such vileness and just plain evil. You to read Daniel sometime. The world will be so evil that even God can’t stand it. You can see the EVIL in the headlines every day… and it is getting worse all according to prophecy.

Serious Jews are excited about His coming. Why do you think there is talk about preparing for the Temple on Temple Mount in Israel? They sense His coming too! That is where there is some common ground. Jews see it as His first coming and Christians see it as His second coming but it is connected to DISOBEDIENCE! You have i reversed! The Old and New Testament is loaded with prophecy. Please, do yourself a favor and seek a good Bible based church and have some hope.

What you are believing is hopeless and you will get discouraged because that is not the direction the world is going and your interpretation is not valid for His return! Keep in mind that not one person was ever able to live up to the Ten Commandments! NOT ONE! Blood sacrifices were needed for atonement and that is where Christ stepped in later… and of course Jews reject Him as their Messiah. So to put it gently, it is ludicrous to believe that He will not return to all or even some are obedient when that alone is impossible and there is so way all could do that for the same reason – it’s impossible to live a perfect life. I have given you verses in a previous reply where it is stated in the Bible, that NONE are righteous – NOT ONE!

What you are seeing in the Old Testament is human nature. Sometimes we are good ad receive His blessing and when they were not, they were disciplined with a prophet to help steer them back or a King that they demanded and the Kings screwed up too. Besides that it was directed to the Jews under a theocracy. It was a history of what took place before Christ and shows His true nature. So people who think God is some kind of a pushover are in for a horrendous awakening. A righteous God, has a low tolerance for any sin. The Holy Spirit is a intercessor, Jesus is the mediator to God. John 14:6

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Jesus is the mediator between God and man.

I realize that you will most likely continue to believe you have to satisfy the Ten Commandments before the Messiah comes. I can just warn you, that it is a hopeless proposition by any mere mortal. It wasn’t possible in the Old or New Testament. You can’t work your way to heaven either. It is all about belief, repenting and forgiveness. We are living in dark times and the direction is away from God. The pace is picking up so give all of this some careful thought and don’t conflate selected passages with required obedience and look closely at the punishment and especially read Daniel that talks more about prophecy because we are living in prophetic times! Many Old Testament scriptures refer to the coming Messiah and have been specifically fulfilled in Jesus. The exact number varies based on how one determines what constitutes a reference, with some scholars counting more than 400. A few of the more obvious predictions are shared here.

Isaiah 7:14 refers to a child who will be born of a virgin and will be called Immanuel, a name meaning “God with us.” The verse reads, “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” Isaiah 9:6 likewise predicts: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Micah 5:2 predicted the exact location of the birth of Jesus: “But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.” There were two towns called Bethlehem during this time. The foretelling of Bethlehem Ephrathah in Judah is highly significant.

Zechariah 9:9 specifically speaks of the Messiah riding into Jerusalem on a young donkey and being hailed as a king. This took place on what we call Palm Sunday, when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey the Sunday before His crucifixion (John 12:14-15).

There is a clear prophecy of the clothing of Jesus being given away by casting lots, an ancient game of chance. Psalm 22:16-18 shares, “For dogs encompass me; a company of evildoers encircles me; they have pierced my hands and feet—I can count all my bones—they stare and gloat over me; they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots.” Matthew 27:35 notes, “And when they had crucified him, they divided his garments among them by casting lots.”

Isaiah 53 speaks of the suffering servant. Specifically, the verses talk of someone who would be “despised and rejected by men […] he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth” (Isaiah 53:3-7). We see the truth of these verses most clearly in the work of the Cross.

Psalm 41:9 predicted, “Even my close friend in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted his heel against me.” Jesus would later be betrayed by Judas Iscariot in this way: “After saying these things, Jesus was troubled in his spirit, and testified, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.’ The disciples looked at one another, uncertain of whom he spoke. One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was reclining at table at Jesus’ side, so Simon Peter motioned to him to ask Jesus of whom he was speaking. So that disciple, leaning back against Jesus, said to him, ‘Lord, who is it?’ Jesus answered, ‘It is he to whom I will give this morsel of bread when I have dipped it.’ So when he had dipped the morsel, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. Then after he had taken the morsel, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, ‘What you are going to do, do quickly.'” (John 13:21-27).

Fulfilling one or two of the hundreds of predictions in the Old Testament could be dismissed as insignificant, but Jesus fulfilled each of the numerous predictions exactly. Jesus and only Jesus is the prophesied Messiah who ultimately proved Himself as the Christ by His resurrection from the dead.
