Rep. Eliot Engel is a total disgrace and coward. This act of appeasement by Engel is likely due (at least in part) to the primary challenge he is facing from a far-Left Democrat. As expected there was no push back from any of the pro-Israel Jewish organizations for this outrageous decision. This is just another example of how timid and ineffective America’s pro-Israel lobbying groups are.

An anti-Hamas bill has been severely watered down by Congressman Eliot Engel. It’s a turn of events that should trouble every supporter of Israel.
The New York Post claimed this week that Engel (D-NY), the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, agreed to change the bill after heavy pressure from Qatar and the Palestinian Authority (PA).
The Post quoted “a personal acquaintance of Engel’s” as saying, “Eliot told me directly that he was getting a lot of pressure from the Qataris” about the bill. At the same time, Engel or his representatives held seven meetings this past spring with lobbyists for the PA, apparently to discuss the bill.
The Qataris didn’t like the fact that the bill mentioned Qatar’s massive financial support for Hamas. The PA didn’t like the fact that it would have penalized regimes—like the PA—that assist Hamas in various ways.
So the bill, which was authored by Rep. Brian Mast (R-Florida), was changed. The language about Qatar was removed, and loopholes were added so that aid to Hamas which is considered “humanitarian” would not be blocked.
We put “humanitarian” in quotation marks because we all remember how “humanitarian” concrete, which supposedly would be used to build homes, instead was used to build tunnels to kidnap and murder Israelis.
At this point in the story, you would imagine that those Jewish leaders who claim to be Engel’s buddies would have intervened to restore the original language of the Mast bill.

Agree. If Trump is smart enough , he should pass E.O to ban all terror/crime/illegal/drug linked persons from coming to America and those who advocate for them should lose their assets/citizenship and deported/jailed as terror agents.
Unless this is done there will be never ending cases . And America will become like canada/EU

Engel’s district includes Riverdale in the Bronx, one of the largest and affluent Jewish communities in NYC. Most of the Jews that live there have no idea that Engels watered down this bill. The MSM simply does not report it. Proof?

It returns one NY Post story about this and a handful of results from mostly marginal web sites. Typically, the MSM ignores this story and most stories about arab/muslim support for terrorism.
ELIOT ENGEL is a traitor solely dedicated to his own self-preservation. His only concern is the threat of a radical left challenger unseating him. The AOC & Co goon squad considers his seat prime red meat for takeover.
American Jews would like to believe they wield political power and a handful of elite Jews do but collectively the Jewish American vote has no impact on the Presidential or US congressional elections. This is because over 75% of American Jews live in heavily blue states. Even if every jewish vote in those states was nullified, the election results would still be overwhelmingly Democratic.

You found the same data I did. I also found a map of the Jewish Population throughout the U.S. They are concentrated in the major metro areas and if you overlaid it on a map of the the 2016 vote you see both highlight the Left Coast, the I-95 Northeast Corridor, and the major metro areas. So U R correct that collectively the Jewish American vote has no impact on the Presidential or US Congressional Elections.
I am still perplexed to this day why American Jews overwhelmingly vote for the Democrat Party.

Second, there is no Republican Party in NYC. It died years ago. New York City is governed by one party consisting of mostly far left Democrats. it’s a simple corrupt system. In exchange for the certainty of union votes, the Mayor and every elected official give the store away to public unions.
In his first Mayoral election De Blasio was literally elected by union members. Only 24% of registered voters actually voted.
This is pretty much how it works in Los Angeles, Chicago, LA, SF, Seattle etc. All of these cities are now single party rule and totally beholden to public and private unions. Leftist Urban America has become a socialist country within a country.

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has been one of the driving forces behind the establishment
of this operation, they explain.
“Senator Lindsey Graham has held several face-to-face meetings with high-ranking delegations from the $320 billion Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), which has pledged to invest billions into the state. Over the past couple of years, Graham has emerged as one of the major pro-Qatar voices in the Senate. He routinely takes to television and other media platforms to repudiate Qatar’s regional adversaries, while bolstering its allies.”
One of the biggest donors to South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster’s recent campaign for governor is a key Qatari lobbyist, Imaad Zuberi. Uberi represents the vastly wealthy QIA, and forked over $50,000 to McCaster’s campaign according to campaign finance reports.
Zuberi told associates that he was donating to GOP candidates to gain further access to politicians, the New York Times reports.
The mayor of Charleston is also friendly to the Gulf state. He has “signed a declaration of understanding to encourage economic development, cultural and environmental cooperation between Charleston and Doha, Qatar’s capital city,” after meeting with Qatari investment officials, The Post and Courier reported.
Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner assembly plant is located in Charleston, and Qatar recently dropped over $11 billion to order 30 787s and 10 777s from Boeing. The Qatari air force also has a $6.2 billion contract with Boeing.
Barzan Holdings, which is controlled by Qatar, was launched in March of 2018 to act as
“a commercial gateway for the defense industry in Qatar.” Just one week later, Barzan Aeronautical, a subsidiary, was incorporated in South Carolina.
This aircraft program is now in the very early stages of development, and Barzan Aeronautical website projects a launch date of May of this year.

In interviews, Qatari officials have stressed that the one-year-old Barzan Holdings project is a top-priority project for advancing Qatar’s defense goals. In November, the ruler of Qatar himself paid a visit to the Barzan research and development center.
Information on the nature of the mission of Barzan Aeronautical first surfaced in Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) filings last year through the Department of Justice. A high-powered K Street law firm, Ott, Bielitzki & O’Neill PLLC, defined the Barzan Aeronautical mission as a project dedicated to “development and production of surveillance aircraft” for Qatar. Just a couple of weeks ago (without any media coverage), Barzan Aeronautical submitted its own FARA filing, describing its mission as aiding “in procurement / development of airborne ISR [Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance] systems for the foreign principal,” which is the state of Qatar.
In December 2018 and January 2019 alone, the foreign agents representing the Qatari aircraft project listed half a million dollars in lobbying expenses and revenue, according to the FARA filings. Moreover, in FARA disclosures, the K Street law firm noted it is being paid $75,000 per month for government relations services. It also reveals that an American is serving as the CEO of the front company and that its board of directors is a mix of Americans and Qataris. However, the company is 100 percent owned by the Qatar Ministry of Defence.
Barzan has also made several tens-of-millions dollar contracts in nations like Turkey, France, Germany, Italy, and the United States as well.
Barzan Holdings has quickly become a successful international advocate for Qatar’s defense industry, racking up tens of millions of dollars in mega-deals with various nations and their defense industries. Barzan has signed contracts with countless major defense and weapons companies in Turkey, France, Germany, Italy, and the United States.
We should definitely be concerned about this. Qatar has managed to gain incredible diplomatic and financial capital in many of the nations the terrorists it supports want to target.
How can we successfully combat terrorism if we’re doing deals with nations that fund terrorism? What’s more, how can these politicals feel comfortable with the government that funds Hamas setting up military surveillance aircraft within our borders?
