Trenton councilwoman Robin Vaughn claims antisemitic slur ‘is a verb,’ demands leak investigation

Of course. The Left continues to normalize anti-semitism, as America’s Jewish leadership stay practically silent. #Cowards!

That’s like saying the N-word is a term of endearment.

Trenton councilwoman Robin Vaughn claims anti-Semitic slur ‘is a verb,’ demands leak investigation

Story continues below advertisement

By Trentonian.com, September 15, 2019:

TRENTON — Councilwoman Robin Vaughn claimed in defending embattled council president Kathy McBride that “to Jew someone down is a verb” and demanded the city law department investigate the source of the leak of closed-door conversations.

McBride is under fire after she allegedly said during a Sept. 5 executive session that a city attorney was “able to wait her out and Jew her down” to settle a personal injury lawsuit for a lower amount.

“We really need to get a more acute meaning and understanding of ‘anti-Semitic,’” Vaughn wrote in comments on Facebook responding to questions from constituents about the controversy, which were obtained by The Trentonian. “I believe her comment ‘Jew down’ was more in reference to negotiating not ‘I hate Jews.’ Inappropriate in today’s PC culture absolutely, but to Jew someone down is a verb and is not-anti-anything or indicative of hating Jewish people.”

At-large councilman Jerell Blakeley called on McBride to resign as council president over her alleged remarks, made at the Sept. 5 executive session while council was discussing a settlement of Vivian Soto’s personal injury lawsuit against the city.

Without getting into the semantics, the use of the term “Jewing
one down” has always been considered an anti-Semitic statement; just as using
the “n” word is considered an anti-Black comment. Instead of using the term “negotiating”
which in essence is what was happening in connection with her personal injury
claim, the choice made by this politician was clearly intended to be an
anti-Semitic comment, and to deny its intent is to assume those who received it
and heard it are fools.

Dennis, I don’t agree. First, in my dictionary, the word is “jew”, not “Jew”. And since when was hard, even tedious, negotiating over terms- which I suspect for many years, Jews of Europe and elsewhere excelled- anti-Semitic?

Nor do I think the'”n-word” that would probably cause my comment to be censored if I spelled it out- a word frequently used by black rappers- was always considered anti-black. I admit, it did become that for many people. But my sense is for years in this county, it was just what many people called Negroes.

In Ken Burns’ masterful series on the history of jazz, he flashed a picture of a restaurant in, I think, Kansas City or thereabouts. The restaurant was in a largely black area of town. And the name of said establishment of fine dining was ….. “N***** Chicken”.

You may not agree with me, which is your right, but my sense is that the comment made was and is intended to be derogatory, whether you accept that conclusion or not. I’ve been around long enough to know that those words and others are intended to put down whoever is accused, as the terms DO have a very negative anti-Semitic expectation from those who say them and those who hear them.

This “Litaris Spicata” person avers that “to jew one down” is not a slur, not at all, because this, in fact, is what Jewish people do!

They jew you down!

Rather than say this outright, she employs euphemisms like “hard, tedious negotiations” at which, she says, “Jews excelled.”

Really, this is so stupid. so willfully ignorant – that words fail me!

Liz-

Rather than say this outright, she employs euphemisms like “hard, tedious negotiations”

There is nothing euphemistic about it- it is stated forthrightly. Noticed you couldn’t be bothered quoting my exact words. Elsewhere on this thread, I did note:

I’ll even go so far as to say this- making such comments may or may not indicate the person harbors anti-Semitic attitudes.

But there is a difference between Jewish and, say, WASP styles of interaction. I think that accounts for a lot of misunderstandings and is even the source of a certain amount of tragedy in this world. What is reasonable, expected behavior in one culture may not be so in another. But at the end of the day, I do not believe the sterotype of the Jew as a hard, even “clever” bargainer is entirely unwarranted. Jews were, after all, the moneylenders of Europe, and I doubt they got there by being Tevye.

I suspect- although don’t know for sure- that you know very well I claim to be male. If so, like that goon Achmed, you try to cross dress me in some pathetic, moronic effort to smear me.

I will give you another Jewish-WASP dicotomy- one you will probably also consider anti-Semitic. At a certain English town some years back, the local vicar assembled the town’s notables with the intent to raise funds for a new hospital. The vicar explained the need, and said he wanted a pledge from each of those present for 2000 pounds payable in a fortnight. Well, on hearing this, the Jew fainted- and the Scotsman gallantly carried him out of the hall!

Shows what sneaky, conniving sob’s those Jews are, right? Well guess what- I learned this one from that well-known anti-Semite, Abba Eban, who noted the joke didn’t quite work the other way around (I think it was in his book My People).

Really, this is so stupid. so willfully ignorant – that words fail me!

Unlike Dennis, you cannot recognize that people might reasonably disagree. Of course, you never identify what is stupid: you respond merely with mindless invective. Instead of showing where and how I err, you can only engage in character assassination and disparage my motives.. The unsubstantiated calumny puts you squarely in the goon squad in my book, b – well words fail me. Unless I receive an apology from you, that is exactly where I will place you.

Dennis-

I think- and will hazard a guess you agree- that you need to be cautious about assessing other people’s motives. In this instance, I find McBride’s comment in poor taste under the circumstances, but I withhold judgement concerning her intent. If I were working with her, I’d like to hear more of her comments before judging her.

Personally, I rue the loss of color- and perhaps candor- in language where expressions like “jew her down” cannot be used. Sorry, “negotiating” is just too bland for some circumstances; perhaps “haggle” conveys something of the punch.

I wonder if Jews in England 150 years ago regarded such expressions as anti-Semitic. However- and this is probably as much as you will get out of me- I think people, at least when speaking in public, should probably avoid such language so as not to give unintentional offense. Nevertheless, I doubt the owner of the “N***** Chicken” restaurant in a black neighborhood intended it as a racial slur.

I am going to tell a family story here. I had a rather Victorian (in attitude) great uncle who spent a career working in a bank in Philadelphia. He found Jews to be difficult to work with. He told one story of a Jew who was chronically late on debt payments. He called the gent into his office a couple of times, but promises were not fulfilled. Finally, he had enough, and my uncle told him either pay up within 48 hours or he was going to foreclose. Well, big Jewish-style reaction “Aiy yi yi- I can’t do that”. Sorry, I’ve given you plenty of time, and you’ve promised repeatedly to pay up. 48 hours, or I foreclose! You would not like my uncle’s description.

Well, dontcha know, about 47 hours and 50 minutes later, the guy comes in with the cash. All paid up. Uncle notices the borrower stops into the bank president’s office, comes out a short while later, then leaves. The president summons my uncle into his office. Uh-oh: I’m in trouble know. President tells my uncle, “That man said you were the finest loan officer he has ever dealt with!”

I do appreciate your civil response to a disagreement.

I would lay better than even money she would go into a tizzy if someone used the word “niggardly” in her presence.

A Caucasian employee of Washington DC was forced to- or at least did- resign about 15 years ago because some black ignoramus took umbrage at his use of the word “niggardly”. Even though, I might add, the word “niggardly” has no etymological relationship to that other n-word that only black rappers can use with impunity.

Good luck with that!

For Obama’s Common Core, standards we lowered with less content and still NJ public schools are turning out morons. Morons are easier to control. Emotions control them rather than facts. That’s the way the elite likes them. This is from 2015 and it has gotten worse. Remember all that money Zuckerberg away 100 million to Newark, another shitttttt area? It was a total faliure.
Newark, Trenton, Camden, notorious shiithole have only gotten WORSE! Now you have these failed people running these cities.

Mark Zuckerberg Gave New Jersey $100 Million To Fix Newark’s Schools,
And It Looks Like It Was A Waste

Business Insider
Caroline Moss
Business InsiderMay 13, 2014

In the fall of 2010, Mark Zuckerberg announced on Oprah that he’d be making a generous gift to Newark, New Jersey.

As Oprah said in her Oprah way, “one … hundred … million … dollars” would be given to Newark Mayor Cory Booker and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie as the three began the Startup:Education foundation.

The plan was to turn Newark into what Zuckerberg called “a symbol of educational excellence for the whole nation,” spent on retaining the best teachers, and creating environments that would produce successful students and, one day, graduates.

Newark is a city wrought with crime. Its graduation rate is about 67%. It needed the help, and Booker’s vision sounded promising.

Between 2010 and 2012, The New Yorker reports that “more than twenty million dollars of Zuckerberg’s gift and matching donations went to consulting firms with various specialties: public relations, human resources, communications, data analysis, [and] teacher evaluation.” Many of the consultants were being paid upwards of $1,000 a day.

“Everybody’s getting paid but Raheem still can’t read,” Vivian Cox Fraser, president of the Urban League of Essex County, was quoted saying.

a city attorney was “able to wait and Jew her down” to settle a personal injury lawsuit for a lower amount.

Not so … was merely trying to jew her down.

I mean, it’s not as though the city attorney were trying to welsh of a debt, or anything (I have some ancestors from Wales- at least as much as Liz Warren has Native American).

I realize we live in a PC world, but frankly, I think this is a tempest in a teapot. I’ll even go so far as to say this- making such comments may or may not indicate the person harbors anti-Semitic attitudes. But by all but banning such utterances, you make it more difficult to discern what people’s underlying attitudes are.

I’ve mentioned this incident that an elderly Jew in Cincinnati told me about his life. He graduated with a degree in engineering in the the late 1930’s. He wanted to work for P&G, in their marketing department. P&G informed him that they found people of his faith too aggressive for their marketing efforts. How dreadful and raaaaaacist, right? Well, not so fast- P&G asked him if he would consider a position in engineering.

Hey, Vaughn. Sound to me like you’re trying to n****r my chain. See, I’m just using the N-word as a verb. Thanks for English lesson.
On a more serious note, this typifies how ingrained jew-envy and hatred is in Black America.
Recently, Lebron James made an equally blatant anti-semitic statement to his 43 MILLION followers. After being called out on it, he issued a childish, arrogant “ooops, I didn’t know dat was anti-semitic” mea culpa. The bottom line is he knew there would be no consequences to pandering to his lapdog audience.
As we’ve come to expect, Blacks and Redneck Whites spout the most hate and commit the most violence against Jews. Is it any surprise that both groups are firmly entrenched at the bottom of the economic ladder? Nope.

LOL. I thought the Cleveland Indians had already changed their mascot and name — unless I’m mixing them up w/Stanford (spit).

It was common to say he’s out of his cotton pickin mind. Is it still ok?

I think “cotton pickin” is a verbal. We’ll give that a conditional ok for today- but tomorrow you may be hauled before the People’s Tribunal!

Somehow I don’t think she would find it as acceptable if someone were to throw the “N” word around so casually. Perhaps I’d like to start a new colloquialism for someone getting his / her butt kicked: That guy just got Trayvonned! Or a colloquialism for a piece of sh*t young thug: That boy be a Trayvon!

I’ll run those by McBride and see if she finds them acceptable.

Her nameplate should have the word “At” replaced by a comma.
