Muslim Migration Lobby Feels ‘Ignored’ by 2020 Democrats as Trump Travel Ban Remains Popular

By John Binder, Breitbart

The Muslim migration lobby is feeling increasingly “ignored” by 2020 Democrat presidential primary candidates after many have stopped attacking President Trump’s travel ban, as it remains one of his most popular immigration policies to date.

Story continues below advertisement

Muslim migration advocates told Politico in interviews that their opposition to Trump’s travel ban — which has effectively ended legal immigration from Chad, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen — is not being voiced in the 2020 Democrat presidential primary.

In the last Democrat primary debate, for example, the constitutional and widely popular travel ban was only spoken about for less than two minutes. This, Muslim migration advocates said, is putting a bad taste in their mouth for the Democrat field of candidates:

“This is an issue that they aren’t taking as seriously as they should be,” said Mohamed Gula, executive director of the Muslim advocacy group Emgage and a former staffer on Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. “Us being about 1 percent of the American population, to be ignored in that way, is definitely kind of putting a chip on our shoulder.” [Emphasis added]

Rabyaah Althaibani, a co-founder of the political consulting group Arab Women’s Voice, added: “It’s disappointing. I’m Yemeni and I don’t know a single Yemeni family that isn’t directly impacted by the Muslim ban.” [Emphasis added]

Democrats like former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) have hardly attacked Trump’s travel ban — mainly because poll after poll has revealed that it remains one of the most popular policies enacted by the White House.

A January 2019 poll conducted by Harvard/Harris found that about 8-in-10 registered U.S. voters said they supported “tough” legal immigration restrictions on terrorist-sponsoring countries, like those implemented through Trump’s travel ban — including 94 percent of Republican voters, 71 percent of Democrats, and 79 percent of swing voters.

Months before, a November 2018 poll conducted by Harvard/Harris Poll found that a plurality of 4-in-9 U.S. registered voters said they specifically supported Trump’s constitutional travel ban. Nearly half of American men said they supported the travel ban, as well as almost 7-in-10 Republicans and more than 4-in-10 swing voters. Less than 30 percent of swing voters said they disapproved of the policy.

Grappling with the travel ban’s popularity has left leftists activists declaring that a “significant” population of Americans have “Islamophobic tendencies,” according to those interviewed by Politico:

“It’s no secret that when you look at the polling, there are significant numbers of Democratic voters and Republican voters who have fairly strong Islamophobic tendencies,” said Waleed Shahid, communications director for the left-wing Justice Democrats and a former aide to Bernie Sanders. “I think the way to deal with that is to have strong leadership on the issue.” [Emphasis added]

A June 2017 poll by Rasmussen Reports, though, noted that the majority of likely American voters did not see the travel ban as being “anti-Muslim” but rather about the national security of the nation even before it was ruled constitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court.

For instance, 52 percent of Americans at the time said the travel ban was about keeping terrorists out of the U.S., while only a small minority of 39 percent said the ban was about “blocking” Muslims from entering the country. The poll found that the travel ban was supported by about 5-in-10 U.S. likely voters — including 57 percent of American men, 56 percent of white voters, and 50 percent of swing voters.

It’s disappointing. I’m Yemeni and I don’t know a single Yemeni family that isn’t directly impacted by the Muslim ban.”

Funny thing, Rabyaah. I am noticing more and more Americans being “directly impacted” by the immigration of Moslems.- and not in a favorable way. Instead of accommodating to their new country, Moslems have a disturbing tendency to expect everyone else to accommodate them.

I for one am more concerned about Christians and other minorities who are being massacred by Moslems in countries where the ideology of Islam prevails.

Say, when are you going to offer restitution to Yemeni Jews who were forced to leave their native country in 1948 with nothing more than the clothes on their backs? They were “directly impacted” too, you know. Oh, sorry, I guess your concern for “human rights” is highly selective.

I hope Trump wraps this one around their !@#$% necks in 2020. Candidate Trump described how the USA needed to end immigration from Moslem countries “until we get this thing figured out” (or words to that effect). I agree- that should keep things on ice for at least another 1400 years!

Doesn’t belong in the Middle East either, particularly outside the Arabian peninsula. It is an ideology that has prevailed by- and only by- the sword. Mohammad admitted as much (“I am made victorious through terror”).

For what it’s worth, as one who reads selected stories every day in the electronic Daily Mail, Daily Express, Daily Telegraph and the paper version of The Times plus the usual six sites including this one, I’ve concluded that in the UK during the last few years since the election of comrade Corbyn, he and socialist Labour have both become much less popular especially since the full extent of his and the party’s loathing for Jews became so noticeable, they’ve no longer bothered covering it up. Over 50,000 Labour party members have left.

This open hostility to Jewish people and especially Israel plus punitive taxation proposals against even modest private wealth has not yet shown electoral fruit with non muslims in large enough numbers to gain credibility so the trend for the left is to keep digging. Labour under Corbyn still champion the ethnics and muslims who are replacing in large degree the white working class and that has not gone unnoticed by them..

The reason for this post is this, are the Democrats in the US gaining or losing support for their hard left anti Israel, anti Conservative positions. From across the pond the trend is not clear.

In the UK we have nothing as toxic as “the squad”,but their place as villans is taken by senior Conservatives who hate the idea of BREXIT so much they’re prepared to deliver the nation into the hands of a Marxist such as Corbyn by parliamentary shenanigans betraying their party, constituents, electorate and nation in order to stop it on 31st October. .

One thing is clear though, the enemy of freedom, equality before the law and the pursuit of happiness and wealth looks just like us in both countries. The rest of this year is going to be very interesting, huge stakes are in play.

Poppey, the trend is not so clear in the USA either, I would say. But my sense is this: in the short term, the hatred that certain high profile Democrats have toward Israel is a slight negative in terms of their electability nationwide (certain congressional districts not withstanding).

However, in the longer term, I regard it as an ominous trend, with increasing Moslem immigration and the leftward tilt of young people in the USA (which of course brings with it an animus toward Israel). Even younger evangelical Christians, a relatively conservative group, are increasingly sympathetic to the “Palestinian” agenda.

I find myself sympathetic to the frustrations of generations X. Y, and Z. They are the fall guys for intergenerational Ponzi schemes known as Social Security and Medicare. They have been sold a bill of goods on college degrees (I won’t dignify much of it with the term “education”). Unfortunately, they tend to blame Republicans for not spending enough OPM (other people’s money) on their favorite agendas and do not realize that one of their biggest enemies is Big Government itself.

Oh for the leadership of the likes of Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan!

Yet another example of Trump’s policies being more popular than he is.

Exactly, sandbox. That is why, given the leaders among the Democrat candidates, I worry about Trump’s excesses and how they affect his electability. On balance, I think Trump has been good for the USA, although the fruit of some his policies won’t be seen for some years (e.g. standing up to China, even though I think he has gone about it in a very clumsy manner).

Right, his electability in 2020 looks poor, even though his policies are popular. If he wants his policies and ideas to continue, then I hope he decides not to run for re-election and allows another R candidate to run–with Trump’s endorsement.

The Muslim ban is the main reason I voted for Trump..But it’s funny how whenThe pampered Muslims don’t get their way they start in with the veiled threats. Seriously what will happen if nobody protests the Muslim ban they’ll then have a “chip on their shoulder”
