Green Beret accused of killing suspected Taliban bomb maker facing ‘agonizing’ wait for trial, wife says
The family of a decorated former Green Beret who is charged with killing a suspected Taliban bomb maker in 2010 is facing another roadblock in the military justice system, his wife told “Fox & Friends” on Saturday.
The U.S. Army has delayed a motions hearing in Maj. Matt Golsteyn’s case to the week of Sept. 9, Julie Golsteyn told Pete Hegseth. No reason was given for the delay. Matt Golsteyn’s trial is expected to begin in November.
“If we can count on one thing from the prosecution and the investigators and the leadership of the Army, it is that they will always do the wrong thing,” Julie Golsteyn said. “That’s all we can count on in this.”

Matt Golsteyn is charged with premeditated murder in the death of the suspected militant in 2010. An initial investigation by the Army didn’t find sufficient evidence to bring charges.
The Army opened a second investigation in 2016 and charged Golsteyn in December 2018. He could face life in prison if convicted.
In an exclusive interview with “Fox & Friends” this past February, Golsteyn claimed that he killed the suspected bomb maker while conducting an ambush and vigorously disputed the charge against him.
“Over these years, what the U.S. Army seems to be intent on doing is characterizing an ambush as murder,” Golsteyn said. “Those routine combat actions are now being characterized as murder.”
Golsteyn left the military in 2016 and worked as a civilian in Washington, D.C. His family, including a 13-year-old son and an 11-month-old son, live in Virginia, but Golsteyn is required to report twice daily to Fort Bragg, N.C., because of the case.
“It is agonizing and quite frankly terrifying to have your life played with and your family’s future manipulated by people who are just truly depraved and at the same time unbelievably incompetent,” Julie Golsteyn said Saturday.
“Matt and I are real people. We have children to raise,” she added. “Matt’s 13-year-old son lives in our home full-time. This week Matt will miss his first day of school, the first week of school. He missed almost his whole first year of middle school last year. We have a very puzzled 11-month-old who loves when his daddy’s home and is awfully confused when he leaves for periods of time to be at Fort Bragg for no other reason than the jollies of a lieutenant colonel.”
The process has affected the couple’s health and the well-being of the family itself, Julie Golsteyn said.
“It creeps into every portion of your life when this, what we have been told is a fair justice process is weaponized to destroy you,” she added. “ … They have no new evidence,” she said. “If they have nothing to hide and they truly believe my husband murdered someone in cold blood, then they should have no problem justifying their stance.”
Julie Golsteyn also claimed to Fox News that the prosecutors and investigators are “still looking for evidence.”
“They charged Matt and didn’t have any [evidence], as they have claimed,” she noted.
Matt Golsteyn’s case has garnered the attention of President Donald Trump, who tweeted in December that he “will be reviewing the case of a ‘U.S. Military hero,’ Major Matt Golsteyn, who is charged with murder. He could face the death penalty from our own government after he admitted to killing a Terrorist bomb maker while overseas.”

You hit on a key point which few people are aware of. The reality is that most of our elites and soldiers really have no clue who the enemy is. All they know is that they’re evil and are a “radical strain” of Islam.
They have no idea about Jihad and martyrdom and that millions of Muslims want nothing more than to kill and be killed for Allah. If we understood this, then we’d realize that we’re actually doing most of them a huge favor by putting them out of their misery.
What I don’t understand is why Muslims are so hypocritical. On the one hand they hate us, seek our destruction and don’t like it when we ‘invade their lands’ and kill Muslims. On the other, most of them wish to be martyred. They’re morons and they deserve to be wiped out like the Nazis were, to be honest.
Muslims get downright crazy if they think pork is anywhere near them. They sue all the time over it. It’s probably in the Quran somewhere. Remember the guy who rubbed the door knobs of a mosque with bacon? He got 15 years for that. The give this guy all that time and Muslims a slap on the wrist pretty much for heinous crimes like molestation and rape because it’s the old song and dance of “but it’s their culture and they didn’t understand it was wrong” What a load of BS! It makes me want to puke!

The real crime here is the persecution of US soldiers. I’ve noticed that some generals and politicians on the far Left are just as evil as our enemies. I’ve heard them talk about punishing and even attacking Israel for example.
Many of them have been brainwashed by anti-American propaganda so it’s no surprise they hold sympathies for Muslims and Communists in other nations that we are at war with and hence they’re also the same people who go after military servicemen and women aggressively.
Granted there should be some basic rules of engagement where innocents are protected. However soldiers should be given a lot of latitude so long as their intent was not malicious. As in friendly-fire incidents, civilians sometimes end up getting killed, that should be obvious to anyone and soldiers should never be punished for making honest mistakes.
Trump not only needs to shut down this case, he needs to go after all the Obama holdovers who are continuing Obama’s war against the US. Not to mention the ROE must be revised so that they benefit our side, rather than our enemies.

This happened back around the time when Muslim Brotherhood affiliates essentially took over the war narrative with their successes in purging the Pentagon, FBI and DHS of any training materiel and people they found objectionable. The biggest national security scandal hardly anyone has heard about. You have to wonder if this impacted the Major Golsteyn case in some way.

These Commiecrat Leftists masquerading as JAG are responsible for hundreds of American battlefield deaths and injuries. In combat, you have to make snap judgments or die. Here we go again…..another brave soldier dragged through the mud and courts for doing what we send them to do….
In 2014 Obama forced the “early retirement” of many (114) top military at the Pentagon….since then, we have more and more of this crapola…and these are just the ones that make the headlines…
So he killed a bomb maker? Works for me! I say give this soldier a promotion and a medal! So tired of our soldiers, who are sent to these Muslim hellholes to fight for us being treated like criminals. They deserve better! I hope President Trump steps in and helps because this military family has been through hell and back.
