American Woman Loses Custody Of 4-Year-Old Daughter Because She Does Not Raise Child In Islamic Traditions

Story continues below advertisementAn American woman living in Saudi Arabia lost custody of her four-year-old daughter after a judge ruled that the mother was “new to Islam” and might expose the daughter to foreign traditions.
Bethany Vierra asked her ex-husband for a divorce in 2017, describing him as abusive. But when she attempted to secure custody of her four-year-old daughter, Zeina, the Saudi government ultimately gave custody of Zeina to the child’s grandmother – Vierra’s ex-husband’s mother, according to the New York Times.
“Since the mother is new to Islam and a foreigner in this country and embraces customs and traditions in the way she was raised, we must avoid exposing Zeina to these traditions,” the judge wrote in his ruling. The New York Times reported that he decided the custody decision on Sunday.
The judge also cited reasons supplied by Vierra’s ex-husband, such as the fact that she was not suitable to raise Zeina because she is a Westerner and teaches yoga, which her ex-husband reportedly said did not leave her time to care for Zeina.
Vierra’s ex-husband also gave the court pictures of Vierra in a bikini, in yoga pants, and with her hair uncovered, all of which are forbidden in Saudi Arabia.
“It’s like 10,000 times worse here because so much is at risk for women when they go to court,” the almost tearful Vierra said in a Sunday interview, according to the Times. “I genuinely thought that there would still be justice served here, and I kind of put everything on that.”
Vierra also supplied the courts with video evidence of her husband using drugs and verbally abusing her in front of Zeina. But Vierra’s ex-husband claims that she gave him the drugs and that she forced him to say that he was an atheist. Vierra denied both of these things.
The court, which accepted her husband’s evidence, found her evidence “legally worthless” unless she could bring forth male witnesses to corroborate her statements.
“It’s videos versus male witnesses,” Vierra said. “They wouldn’t in some cases even look at the evidence that I had. It was just completely disregarded because he ‘swore to God.’ It’s all been infuriating.”
Vierra said that Zeina was both confused and scared at the decision and that Vierra promised Zeina she would fight the decision.
Vierra also worries about the fate of her daughter in the hands of her ex-mother-in-law, saying that her ex-husband’s sister told Vierra that her mother verbally and emotionally abused Vierra’s ex-husband and ex-husband’s sister when they were children.
Saudi law usually allows mothers to have “day-to-day” custody of sons until they turn nine and daughters until they turn seven, according to the Times. Fathers are considered legal guardians past these ages, and Vierra’s ex-husband is legally both her and Zeina’s guardian.
Saudi Arabia announced only last year that mothers can keep custody of their children after a divorce and that mothers would not have to file a lawsuit unless the father contested custody.

When I read that book, I did so cover to cover till I finished it completely. I could not put it down, I was anxious and agitated for a long time thinking about the perils the mother and daughter experienced. It worked out, in that one case, but placing themselves in significant risk, God was merciful.

I have a cousin who married a Muslim in the 1980’s…their 2 sons were raised Muslim. He told her after 9/11, that if not for the sons, he would go to Egypt to ‘fight the Jihad’. now she is just another BRAINWASHED Muslima…spouting the lies. After 40 years, she is still ignorant of Islam, and has ratonalized her own situation. She met him in college, bowled over by his dark good looks, she being a blond midwestern hippie. Recently when I posted on another cousin’s facebook, she saw it, and promptly called us ‘racists’ and Islamophobes. She then began a lengthy tome on the wonders of Islam.. Her own father tried to reason with her, being a good Christian. She is lost.

In this country, in addition to this, you have parents losing custody of their children if they object to their kids being homosexualized or transgenderized – as happened last year in Ohio. In Texas, you have the situation of the father losing any and all contact with his teenaged daughter in a divorce case while the mother supports that girl being turned into a boy whereas he was dead set against it. “Authorities” are as much rigid enforcers of Greenwich Village/San Francisco/Fire Island “values” and acting solely for the behalf of the LGBTQ “leadership,” as they are of Sharia law in deference to CAIR, ISNA et al. We are fast getting to the point where, if children and girls are sexually assaulted in “transgender” bathrooms, they are being retaliated against if they come forward to explain what happened (even to the point of Child Protective Services being sicced on their parents), and in any case, their testimony is less than half in value in relation to a “trans” perpetrator / predator with their “poor, perpetual victim” meme. As Pamela has said about girl and child sacrifice in Western countries with increasing Muslim populaces, any society that sacrifices its young to LGBTQ “leadership” likewise has no future.

Only men who do not want their kids let the moms have them but they also don’t financially support them if they decide this.

U ain’t kidding either. I used to know a guy whose wife was from Egypt. She was Jewish and was extorted into marrying a muslum POS back in the 1950’s (he was connected and threatened her family), but she was tough and took her beatings w/defiance. Eventually her muslum POS husband dragged her out into the street and triple-talaqed her. She was left w/nothing but the clothes on her back and never saw her kids again because THAT is all the justice a Jewish woman can expect from the muslum vermin who run Egyptistan.

What western woman would marry a Saudi man, have a child with him and expect anything to be fair in a divorce. Is she serious? This ‘I didnt know’ garbage is really not working anymore. She of all people should have been intimately aware of the customs, practices of Sharia law in these instances. It’s horrible what happened to her but, she rolled the dice as a foreigner in a foreign country. Perhaps in the future, she should limit her potential mates to only western men (SHOCK).

BTW, ever notice how it’s always a Moslem husband and non-Moslem wife, never (or at least rarely) the other way around? Then again, in Islam men are allowed to marry non-Moslems while women are forbidden to do so, because the kids automatically (and must) follow their father’s religion. However, a Moslem female’s lover and kids would be accepted by her family and community no matter what, if Islam truly was about peace and love.
