Iran was betting that the Trump administration “is too risk-averse to resort to military action.” Obama? yes But they picked a fight with the wring guy this time.
Trump to send 1,000 troops to Middle East as U.S. accuses Iran of attacks
The U.S. is deploying an additional 1,000 troops to the Middle East in response to “hostile behavior by Iranian forces and their proxy groups” that threaten U.S. “personnel and interests,” acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan announced Monday.
By: Axios, June 17, 2019:
Story continues below advertisementThe backdrop: The U.S.-Iran standoff is reaching uncharted waters. As the Trump administration scrambles to rally an international response to Iran’s alleged covert attacks last week, Tehran is taking a long-feared step in broad daylight — announcing it will breach the 2015 nuclear deal’s limits on enriched uranium in 10 day’s time.
Shanahan said the U.S. isn’t seeking “conflict” with Iran, but would “make adjustments to force levels as necessary given intelligence reporting and credible threats.”
Meanwhile, the Pentagon tonight released additional photos it says indicate Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps was behind attacks on two oil tankers last week.
While the U.K., Saudi Arabia and Israel have backed the administration’s assessment, domestic critics and some U.S. allies — including Germany and Japan — have demanded more evidenceThe big picture: President Trump now faces dual challenges — deterring attacks on oil shipments through the critical Strait of Hormuz and keeping Iran from marching toward a nuclear weapon — amid a crisis that many of America’s allies privately hold him at least partially responsible for.
Barbara Slavin of the Atlantic Council argues for Axios Expert Voices that Iran is “signaling the death” of the 2015 nuclear deal.
“Even if initial infringements are modest, the combination of rising tensions in the Persian Gulf, a near-total U.S. embargo on Iranian energy exports and Europe’s failure to operationalize a reliable means of trading with Iran is increasingly unstable,” she writes.
“If the Iranians make good on their threat… Tehran will have enough fuel to make a single bomb in less than a year for the first time since the 2015 agreement went into effect,” David Sanger writes in the NY Times. The White House, meanwhile, is accusing Iran of “nuclear blackmail” and vowing to never allow the regime get a bomb.
The Trump administration argues that the impending crisis only highlights the vulnerabilities of the original deal. Trump’s critics argue that he left the deal without a Plan B, and has simply been squeezing Iran since and waiting for something to burst.
The Trump administration has said its ultimate goal is a new, more comprehensive deal with Iran. Trump has said repeatedly that he doesn’t want a war.
But officials suggested that even absent a deal the maximum pressure campaign would render Iran less dangerous by restricting its cashflow. Recent events are challenging that theory. What to watch: Iran is now betting that the Trump administration “is too risk-averse to resort to military action and potentially touch off a regional conflagration,” Slavin writes. That too will be put to the test.

There is one solution to the curse and terror Iran has set upon the world, a preemptive strike to eradicate this malevolent regime. Sanctions are only hurting the average Iranian, not Ali Khamenei or his henchmen. It, whether now or later, will come to an all-out war, even if the Democrats were to win the 2020 election and the gutless EU continue placating this regime of terror.
One can only hope that Khamenei and his henchmen zigged when they should have zagged, and turned into radioactive dust.
Suppose you did eliminate the current Shitite regime in Iran. Who or what is going to replace it? A freedom loving democracy? Or just another muslum theocracy? Where would you place your bet?
Likely the latter; unless Iran is nuked, then no religious doctrine or people would exist for hundreds of years. Cock roaches would be the sole survivors.
Or just do what the Israelis did with Iraq and Syria.
take out any nuclear or missile sites; and assassinate nuclear officials (both US and Israel have bunker buster missiles).
Gaddafi warned us that if he was gone, chaos would ensure.
He was right. Clinton made sure he was killed.
Then the invasion of Europe with illegals started from the shores of Libya.
Option 4: Have Israel and Saudi Arabia take turns attacking Iran.
Israel has bunker buster missiles. and Saudi can attack other sites.
After Israel’s success in destroying Syria’s nuclear reactor in 2007, I wonder why they never went after Iran’s civilian/military nuclear sites and missiles?
Was it Bush that prevented them, or was it liberals in Israel? Or was it Obama?
(my money is mostly on Obama as the idiot that let things get to this point).
One yr past I made the decision to stop my old work and I am extremely delightful currently…. I started out doing business over the internet, for an organization I uncovered online, only a few hrs every day, and I obtain definitely more than I did on my office workplace job… My pay-check for prior thirty days was 9,000 $… The most important thing on this is the more time I got for my babies…and that the only requirement for this job is simple typing and access to internet service… I am also in a position to put in quality time with my family members and buddies and also look after my children as well as going on holiday vacation with them very consistently. Don’t avoid this chance and try to act quick. Test it yourself, what it’s about… stable.xey.net
GBT!
I actually disagree with this…modern warfare can be conducted safely from thousands of miles away.
Use drone strikes.
No more dead American soldiers…stop…now…the Middle East is not worth one more American life.
The Iranian people deserve a better future than what they have today, preferably one without Islam!
