Texas Republicans fear Trump could lose the state in 2020

49

Senator Ted Cruz’s near loss to Beto O’Rourke in 2018, is a strong indication that the Republican Party can no longer take Texas for granted.

Ted Cruz came close to losing his senate seat because he assumed that a Democrat could not win in reliably red Texas. Cruz was wrong. The Cruz campaign was disorganized and underfunded, which allowed Beto O’Rourke to make that election close.

President Trump and Ronna McDaniel better not make the same mistake. Trump is going to have to fight for Texas. It’s very simple: if Texas becomes a Blue State than we will never see a Republican President again.

Texas Republicans fear Trump could lose the state in 2020,

By: The Washington Examiner, David M. Drucker, June 5, 2019:

Top Republicans in Texas are sounding the alarm about 2020, warning President Trump could lose the usually reliably red state unless he devotes resources and attention to it typically reserved for electoral battlegrounds.

Texas GOP Chairman James Dickey has delivered this message to the Trump campaign, the Republican National Committee, GOP donors, and activists in the state. Nationally, Republican operatives and donors have historically taken Texas for granted and directed their financial and organizational muscle to more competitive regions. Separately, Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, up for re-election next year, has spoken with new RNC co-chairman Tommy Hicks, a Lone Star State native, about concerns that Trump could lose the state.

Along with other senior Texas Republicans, Dickey and Cornyn are moving to secure the money and grassroots support needed to withstand a feared Democratic surge statewide in 2020. If left unchecked, they are convinced Texas could turn blue in a presidential contest for the first time since 1976.

“We are talking to everyone,” Dickey told the Washington Examiner this month while attending the RNC’s annual winter business meeting in New Mexico. “The challenges we face in Texas are very real.”

Texas controls 38 votes in the Electoral College, a massive haul without which Trump would be unlikely to reach 270 and win a second term.

AG Paxton is working on weeding out illegal voting. The DNC is undoubtedly working behind the scenes to enroll illegals to vote as fast as Paxton is working to eliminate the illegal vote.

The main fight will be at the Conservative and Progressive Socialist/ Communist opposite ends of the so-called two party system. Conservatives still have the opportunity to save the day and the country If they can act in a concerted way. The basically, low information, do nothing mush in the middle must be made aware of their responsibility to the process and be involved in of running their own country. If they continue to float and acquiesce to the rotten reeking scum who are, presently trying to take this nation down, patriots will stand and there will be an uprising… Texas…going under, who woulda thunk it?

Obama purposely planted lots of Muslims and illegals in Texas. Obama deposited this filth by ZIP CODE. If we don’t get control of this we are finished as a country. Make no mistake about it, ILLEGALS and other scum will be voting in 2020. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain. If you think election fraud no matter how blatant, will be prosecuted and fully exposed when a DEM wins, I’ll sell you the Brooklyn bridge. It is critical that Trump wins in 2020 and cleans up our country. MASS DEPORTATIONS are needed as well as a few other things.

You have read the tea leaves. My representative in congress, John Carter, barely held on to win against a nobody in the midterms. He is a GOOD man, in the true sense of the word. We have problems here in Texas, namely, Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio. Blue areas which are leaching out into the suburbs. The leftist virus is on the march, slowly but surely. Will Texas turn blue? I wouldn’t bet against it

TERM LIMITS

Reply to  LFRD

If I am wrong in anything stated below, trust me, I am not thin skinned and have no trouble being corrected. I used to be all for term limits till I looked into it more closely. I’d love to be wrong on
this.. An educated electorate is what we need. and that’s who we got Trump as President. Now that we have censorship it is even more challenging.

Term limits is just a happy pacifier for appeasement that will not happen.
Look at the hoops you have to go through…

Term limits won’t solve the problem and will never happen! If you had term limits of say two terms, the establishment would simply prep the replacement during the last term for a smooth transition for the next establishment candidate and have access to the political machine and money.. It is up to the PEOPLE to know who to vote for in the primary and bring it home.

Remember Cruz who likes to get attention now and then? There are two ways to get term limits.
Cruz proposed a bill for it. The swamp is naturally annoyed with him and laughs at him even though he is part of the swamp…. Here’s why:

The first way is passing a bill through Congress with a two-thirds majority vote in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. ‘Why would the swamp vote to term limit themselves? Cruz knows they won’t do that. He plays with people for attention – so phony but his base LOVES to hear it. Major eye roll …. with no possibility of passing!

There is a second way, and lesser known, way of an amendment happening. The second part of Article V of the Constitution allows us to bypass Congress. We would be able to call a Term Limits Convention which would ultimately allow us to impose the necessary term limits on Congress. You would need two thirds of our STATES to call a convention for proposing a Constitutional amendment. This method also requires Congress, “on the application of the legislatures of two-thirds of the several states” (presently 34), to “call a convention for proposing amendments” and we don’t have that nor do I expect to get that. All 27 Amendments have been ratified after two-thirds of the House and Senate approve of the proposal and send it to the states for a vote. Then, three-fourths of the states must affirm the proposed Amendment.

I personally don’t want term limits because it would require horse trading with the Constitution. Guess what would come up as the trade – the right to bear arms – guaranteed! To get something you have to give something. Our Constitution is already being shredded it. I don’t want more of that. I don’t want the Constitution rewritten! You would also need two thirds of both to pass a Constitutional Amendment!

Here’s another hurdle for you term limit people don’t talk about :

In 1995, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned congressional term limits in U.S. Term Limits,
Inc. v. Thornton, ruling that state governments cannot limit the terms of members of the national government. As of 2013, term limits at the federal level are restricted to the executive branch and some agencies. Judicial appointments at the federal level are made for life, and are not subject to election or to term limits. The U.S. Congress remains (since the Thornton decision of 1995) without electoral limits.

I still say an EDUCATED VOTER is the answer. I would prefer NOT to deny effective people like Congressman Louie Gohmert of Texas from running based on term limits! Censorship has to be stopped too! It’s how Trump got elected – people found their voice and were tired of the corrupt politicians and willing to give him a shot. Electing Hillary would have been the same as electing Obama to a third term. Hillary was beyond caring about policy. At that point all she wanted was to be the first female President, be pampered and let Obama deal with running our country. No matter what the media says, Hillary is an unwell person and not up to the job and she didn’t care about the job anymore except having the title or President. Obama did all he could to get her elected and she still lost!

Thanks Felix for this highly educational post. I have been torn about this issue for a long time and with this information you have convinced me that it is not necessarily a good idea. I could not agree more about the fact that what we really need is an educated electorate BUT the problem with that is the Voting Rights Act which gives everyone the right to vote regardless of reading comprehension or sufficient intelligence to understand the issues up for vote. In addition, the polls seems to be controlled by the Left and even when irregularities are identified and reported to the SOS absolutely nothing gets done about it.

Colorado is gone and blue. East Coast & West Coast liberals, ski dudes, nature freaks, Starbucks guzzlers and bikers moved their left wing ideology and politics straight into Colorado and the ballots boxes of that state.

John Denver “Rocky Mountain High” in 1971 got that ball rolling.

Dudes.

Arizona will be blue in 2022 or 2024.

Texas will stay red – but just barely – and only if voter fraud and illegal balloting are stopped dead. No compromising.

We must expunge socialist thinking
– from every mind that harbors it
– otherwise we will wind up as we did in Berlin
– in May, 1945, when the defeated Berliners said,
– “Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time”
– and getting them to change their minds
– was VERY expensive in lives and treasure

Trump is his own worst enemy. He has alienated millions of his former supporters and galvanized the opposition by his jerk personality. Trump’s denial that he ever called Megan Nasty even though he is on video doing it, is just the latest example of his ham fisted ego.

And it is not just in Texas. The Republican governor of Florida who was closely linked to Trump barely beat a black radical socialist in the race for governor. Ditto for Georgia. The Dims also won big in normally conservative states like Arizona and Nevada. All due to voter revulsion against Trump.

I support most of the Trump agenda and was hoping that Trump would grow in office and become more presidential and less of a jerk but the man evidently cant change even when his chances of reelection are hurt by it.

The Dims will probably win back the White House in 2020 and both houses of Congress in a landslide. I hope that I am wrong. But if this happens the one to blame is Donald Trump and his arrogant Jerk personality.

The anomaly of the strong showing by “Beto the Mosquito” was due to an influx of $6 million in out of state campaign contributions. Luckily we strictly enforce our voting laws while providing free state issued photo ID to all who apply, regardless of superficial distinctions like race or religion.

While many good points are made especially NOT taking anything for granted there is another factor not mentioned.

Austin and San Antonio are solid Blue and with the number of Californian’s moving to Texas you are seeing Houston and the Ft. Worth Dallas area slowly turn Blue. CA’s bring the very cancer with them they are trying to escape. CA’s are the opposite of the Midas Touch. They destroy what they touch.

Don’t believe me? Look at what has happened in Colorado. It is a Blue State now.

Texas has a particularly vile and criminal Commiecrat Party organization that would willingly fill the ballot boxes with illegal votes. Our most effective republican is the Attorney General Ken Paxton whos leading the fight to stop the v=ballot harvesting and other illegals means by which Commiecrats win elections across the USA and have now been imported into Texas. He is sending them to prison as quickly as he can find the evidence to prosecute. He is to be admired and is himself the target of a fake criminal charge that he aided and abetted a securities fraud while a private lawyer. Completely baseless but nevertheless manufactured by the Commiecrats to oust him from office.

Sure it is a possibility. The more illegals that get in, the better the chances that all states go demoncratic. Obama told them it was ok to vote and the dems have supported it by giving them drivers license and no id’s or proof of citizenship to vote, by making it a civil rights thing and a hardship thing and the push to change our REPUBLIC to a democracy by eliminating the electoral college, BS.

That’s what happens when you let Illegals and Muslims move in by the hundreds of thousands and that doesn’t even take into account all the people relocating from Blue states like CA and NY! I lived in Bedford, Texas for over 35 years, right between Dallas and Ft. Worth.
When I first moved there, it was mostly a quiet, middle class group of people, both Black and White and some Legal Hispanics. I left two years ago as one of the LAST White men in the neighborhood. Most of my neighborhood converted to Section 8 Housing (Govt Housing), then the Illegals and Muslims swarmed in! The town was decimated, most of the Grocery stores closed down or sold out to Fiesta (Mexican Grocery Chain), the convenient stores were taken over by Muslims with very few speaking English. The neighborhood turned into Welfare Central and were almost ENTIRELY Mexican and Muslim! I would come home at night after work and Muslims lined the neighborhood entry ways and pointed at and mocked the neighbors as they pulled in! They got full welfare and Govt. Housing, while Driving Cadillac Escalades or other high end SUVs. For ALL the tough talk of Gov. Abbott or AG Paxton, they have been invaded and it’s getting uglier every day! I was watching a local news channel one night and they were talking about Abbott cracking down on Illegals, several Mexicans jumped in front of the Camera and said: “If they do that there will be war, we OWN this state!” I had a Mexican guy tell me, “We’re going to take over this country and NEVER fire a shot!” I’m telling you, we are in trouble unless we crack down on these invaders! I retired and moved back to Iowa for fear that there will be riots in the streets in Texas Cities soon! Houston, Austin and several other cities in Texas are NOW Dark Blue and the Dallas / Ft. Worth area is heading that way fast! Obutthead (with the help of the UN) relocated millions of Muslim Refugees into Red States specifically to turn them Blue and it’s working!

I do not think the entrenched class of the Republicans give a rat’s ass. As long as the status Quo is maintained and they continue sucking off of the teat of the American taxpayer, they could, and would work with a demorat President. The problem is that they will also be disposed of in a like manner.
