I believe, albeit am not sure, that we have an aircraft carrier in the area. If so, it would be relatively easy to provide air cover for shipping, and, without warning, obliterate any vessel (and its crew) that attacks such shipping.

Except submarines don’t surface much anymore so how are you going to find them?

In addition to 3 old Russian-made Kilo class subs, they have 32 assorted types built in Iran (some of which are only 2 man vessels) and 4 built in North Korea. All of them are diesel-electric. I doubt that they are a match for our anti-submarine technology.

Wouldn’t 688 attack subs be more worthwhile than aircraft carriers?

Very easy for US to find Iran’s subs they drop listening devices from choppers and ships to locate.

Iran is testing Trump to see if he has the stones for an actual military conflict. If the US does not fight back, then the Mullahs will see that as a sign of weakness and press ahead with their nuclear weapons program.

Hopefully Trump realizes that the only solution for real peace is regime change. He should see the Iranian regime no differently than he sees ISIS and should work bomb the crap out of them.

Millions of Iranians will be overjoyed so long as one set of Muslim thugs in power isn’t replaced by more Muslim thugs. They need real democracy, freedom.

It’s really naive to think that Iran is involved here. I just see the old Saddam Hussein tactic. USA propagate fake news to legitimate an attack war which is US politics since decades. This is not your fault as citizens, but please don’t let them fool you.

Ya ya, Muslims are innocent little lambs, Americans and Jews are the big bad wolves, always behind every attack, blah blah blah.

Don’t put words into my mouth and read what I wrote. I said it’s not the fault of (American) citizens. But fact is, USA terrorizes the world either by military or by finance. ISIS, Taliban,… appeared because of US interventions (Taliban were trained by USA).

On this evenings BBC news bulletin at 1710 BST their correspondent Mark Urban reported that five Iranian vessels had recently experienced fires or underwater damage plus a fire on an oil export terminal, so if all that were true, it might mean that more than one player is at large there.

That’s my suspicion also.
So many would profit from this seemingly inevitable war.

Iran is on Tomahawk watch.

Too small of a detonation to be a torpedo. Probably some type of a mine placed earlier, and remotely detonated, or on a timer. Also, Iranian submarines are so noisy, you can hear them from over 5 miles away, with the headphones off.

The war with Iran has been in the “pipeline” for quite some time and is getting very near.
I wouldn’t hazard a guess who is responsible for these explosions but there are plenty of suspects.

If a TORPEDO had been used the Tanker would have been sunk in minutes.
The attacks were probably launch by “Mossad” on behalf of the USA. One does
not need large exposive’s to set fire to a Tanker. This type of attack would ideally
satisfy the current White House’s aggressive behaviour towards Iran. And at the
same time, Israel’s xenophobia towards Iran.
