WATCH: President Trump Confirms Decision To Cancel Retaliatory Military Strikes on Iran at Last Minute

77

For a reason the mullahs will never understand…… “casualties could be up to 150 people.” Planes were scrambled and ships moved into position for an attack early Friday morning, but they ultimately got the order to stand down.

The United States was preparing on Thursday night to launch multiple retaliatory strikes against Iran for shooting down an American spy drone near the Strait of Hormuz, but abruptly stood down, according to anonymous senior administration officials. An operation to attack a list of Iranian targets, including radar and missile batteries, was in its early stages as late as 7 p.m. amid intense debate and strategizing at the White House, the officials said.

Planes were scrambled and ships moved into position for an attack early Friday morning, but were ultimately told to cancel what would have been U.S. President Donald Trump’s third military action in the Middle East. The Trump administration struck targets in Syria in 2017 and 2018. According to The New York Times, which cited anonymous senior administration officials, Trump called off the strikes.

Story continues below advertisement

On Thursday morning, an Iranian surface-to-air missile shot down a $130 million U.S. surveillance drone. Iran claimed that the aircraft was in Iranian airspace at the time, but U.S. officials said it was above the Strait of Hormuz in international airspace when it was attacked.

President Donald Trump confirmed Friday he pulled back a military strike on Iran after he learned the number of possible casualties.

“We were cocked & loaded to retaliate last night on three different sights (sic),” Trump revealed on Twitter. The attack was planned in retaliation for Iran shooting down a U.S. surveillance drone on Thursday in international waters.

By Charles Spiering, Breitbart, June 20, 2019;

Trump said prior to the strikes he was told by a general the casualties could be up to 150 people.

“Ten minutes before the strike I stopped it, not proportionate to shooting down an unmanned drone,” he wrote.

Trump added that he was in “no hurry” for additional military conflicts with Iran but warned them against obtaining a nuclear weapon.

The president recalled the recent history of the United States relationship with Iran noting that former President Barack Obama “made a desperate and terrible deal” that included over a billion in cash.

“Iran was in big trouble and he bailed them out,” Trump said. “Gave them a free path to Nuclear Weapons, and SOON.”

The president added that Iran continued to shout “Death to America” despite the deal, which he terminated as president.

“They are a much weakened nation today than at the beginning of my Presidency, when they were causing major problems throughout the Middle East,” Trump said. “Now they are Bust!”

The president also discussed his decision on Friday afternoon in an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press.

I have no opinion on the righteousness of the decision not to retaliate by the U.S. at this time. I do believe, though, that Iran would have preferred some attack as I believe that the leaders of that nation have concluded that they are losing support of the citizens there as their economy fails, and as many conclude that the aggressive terror is not in their best interest. Putting on more sanctions is a good alternative now, and getting the EU, and other countries to support those economic sanctions would bring Iran to its knees, requiring them to cooperate with a world that has joined together in opposition to this nation that is led by crazies. Iran would love to have been attacked, as that would turn its people back to supporting their inane leadership, and, right now, it is in our best interest to avoid letting that happen. Their citizens know that peace and co-existence is their salvation, not attempted destruction of the U.S. or Israel.

During the Libyan Gulf of Sidra incident, the U.S. airstrikes killed several Soviet “military contractors” manning the sites.
When the Russians send modern hardware to a country they will send advisor/training and operations personnel to operate and guard the site.

Trump very likely made the decision not to attack to avoid killing Russian “contractors” operating the installation.

Thank Gd-d for Donald Trump. I feared Bolton and the other war hawks would talk him into it. He asked how many men it would take, they told him and he said it wasn’t worth it. I doubt any other president ever asked that. He is definitely the best I’ve ever seen and maybe the best of all time. I wish he would get completely out. Thanks to him unleashing America we are now energy independent. We don’t need to protect oil for other countries. Let them spend their own money or suffer.

Another thing, he is the first president for a long, long time that even mentions farmers. Who would think that a billionaire from NYC would give a damn? He loves America.

When Iran attacked us and our allies, it wasn’t concerned about war with the U.S. In fact, they keep saying that they’re ready for war with the U.S.
This “war with Iran” talking point is like the “Hillary will start WW3” Russian troll talking point of the 2016 election. Has Israel started a war with Iran or Syria by bombing Iranian bases in Syria? No, it’s consistently enforced its red line.

Crickets at the Geller Report. Even Obama wasn’t this feckless. He retaliated when Houthis fired on U.S. ships in 2016. Imagine if Netanyahu responded to Iranian attacks this spinelessly. Did Trump get a love letter from the Ayatollah like he did from Kim Jong-un? Does anyone believe that destroying the Buk air defense system that shot down our drone would kill 150 people? How did the U.S. strike Syria and Yemen without killing 150 people? How does Israel strike Syria and Gaza without killing 150 people? You’d have to drink Trump’s Kool-Aid to believe this.

Trump scared the $hit out of the Mullahs. They are the reason he keeps Bolton around. He waited until they could see us on their radar to call it off, and I don’t think he planned to attack in the first place. Doing that now would cost Trump the 2020 election. A dem prez will likely provoke war with Russia, which would be much worse. Schumer was photographed high-fiving other dems in the parking lot when he thought Trump planned to attack. Iran will likely go quiet for a while. If not, Trump will give the order and mean it.

Yeah sure, just like Obama scared Assad with his red line. At least when Obama chickened out, he deferred to Congress and substituted a plan to get rid of Assad’s chemical weapons. Trump just made up a bogus story about 150 casualties. I thought Trump was running on strength, not weakness. All the other candidates run on weakness. Meanwhile, we’ve cancelled “war games” with South Korea to appease North Korea, and Trump whitewashed North Korea’s ballistic missile tests and even avoided saying the words “ballistic missile.”
AND we don’t have a Secretary of Defense. The new acting secretary will have all sorts of restrictions, and he’ll have to step down as acting secretary if he’s nominated, all because Trump never nominated the previous one. Mattis resigned over Trump’s plan to pull out of Syria, yet we haven’t pulled out as far as I know.
AND Trump’s chief of staff Mulvaney wants a yearlong continuing resolution to fund the government, which will result in defense cuts.

Iran wouldn’t understand avoiding casualties, huh?
“Iran said it could have shot down a US plane with people on board. The US confirms an aircraft was in the area.”
There was a P-8 surveillance aircraft operating in the area at the time Iran shot down a RQ-4 drone yesterday, a US official tells CNN. The plane was in international airspace, the official said. According to the US Navy, the P-8 aircraft is configured to carry a crew of 9 people.
Iran said there was a US plane flying near the downed RQ-4 drone, but they refrained from targeting it, according to Iran’s commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh. “While we were tracking the spy drone there was also a P-8 spy plane with 35 crew on board which we could have shot at, but we did not do so,” Hajizadeh said.

The defection of the Iranian Intelligence chief over to the US 8 weeks ago showed that the Iranian regime was divided Mullahs Vs the IRGC military. Trump was set up in the hopes he would attack and start the US into another war. Trump was to wise to take the bait. The setup was done by Bolton’s mad desire to attack Iran which Bolton had announced America would do in 2019 over three years ago.

Trump may have to relive Bolton n order to preserve peace and focus on investigating and prosecuting the rest of the deep state snake heads. He first has to convince that Facebook, Google and Silicon valley are staging a coup against the democrats in trying o obtain a corporate takeover of America and having a few unelected billionaires control America for their own purposes by eliminating freedoms even the Democrats hold deer. Trump needs to warn America that if Facebook can silence Conservatives then they will go after everybody else next.

Rob Porter

Oh yes, and next time Iran does something provocative, will Donald back off again? McMaster who sympathized with Muslims and has proven it since being given the push. He was just another John Brennan-type dope.

If Trump does not retaliate against Iran the Iranians will regard him a paper tiger and continue with their terror activities.

Trump has retaliated brilliantly – the Iranians are now on high alert with nothing happening tha tis the most exhausting position for a weak nation on a war footing to be in.

The Mullahs and the military are divided. The Mullahs pretended a desire to bring on
Armageddon while robbing the people and socking away billions in Swiss banks. The
Basijis were formed to protect their larceny. The Iraninan Republican Guard are now
fragmented but mostly wanting to bring on Armagedden to Herald in their Islamic

Oh this gets better and better. Trump tipped off Iran about the attack through a back channel. “Iranian officials told Reuters on Friday that Tehran had received a message from U.S. President Donald Trump through Oman overnight warning that a U.S. attack on Iran was imminent… The New York Times quoted a senior administration official as saying, U.S. warplanes took to the air and ships were put in position for a retaliatory attack only for an order to come to stand down, without any weapons being fired. Targets had included Iranian radar and missile batteries. The strikes were set for early in the day to minimize risk to the Iranian military or to civilians, the Times added.”

So the strikes were set to minimize casualties AND Trump gave Iran advance warning, and they still expected 150 casualties, huh? Imagine if Obama tipped off Pakistan about the Bin Laden raid and issued an order to stand down, Republicans would justifiably go nuts.

“Worse Than Obama’s Red-Line Moment” by Kori Schake, The Atlantic
“Trump has now shown himself just as willing as President Barack Obama was to make empty threats that damage American credibility. Trump has actually done much worse than Obama did with his “red line” comment, since Obama didn’t commence operations only to then send a panicked message through an emissary assuring Iran’s leaders that he wanted negotiations instead, or publicly downplay the nature of the threat. Trump did both of these things, after providing Congress with “very strong and compelling evidence” that Iran had sabotaged two tankers in international waters. And he contradicted public, factual reports made by the military command…
The president’s reprehensible behavior makes it virtually impossible for him to bring the country together, convince it that war is necessary, and, on the basis of that support, persuade America’s allies to join the fight.”
