The New Right Is Beating the New Left. Everywhere.

It’s actually the very old left, Stalinist, collectivist, Hitlerian, Maoist. Anti-human, anti-real. A new Trumpian political era truly is upon us.

The New Right Is Beating the New Left. Everywhere.

Story continues below advertisement

From Australia to Europe, the signs are multiplying that conservative populism is on the rise.

By Tyler Cowen, Bloomberg, May 20, 2019:

Heralding a new political era?

Sometimes political revolutions occur right before our eyes without us quite realizing it. I think that’s what’s been happening over the last few weeks around the world, and the message is clear: The populist “New Right” isn’t going away anytime soon, and the rise of the “New Left” is exaggerated.

Start with Australia, where Prime Minister Scott Morrison won a surprising victory last week. Before the election, polls had almost uniformly indicated that his Liberal-National Coalition would have to step down, but voters were of another mind. With their support of Morrison, an evangelical Christian who has expressed support for President Donald Trump, Australians also showed a relative lack of interest in doing more about climate change. And this result is no fluke of low turnout: Due to compulsory voting, most Australians do turn out for elections.

Or how about the U.K.? The evidence is mounting that the Brexit Party will do very well in this week’s European Parliament elections. Right now that party, which did not exist until recently, is in the lead in national polls with an estimated 34% support. The Tories, the current ruling party, are at only 12%. So the hard Brexit option does not seem to be going away, and the right wing of British politics seems to be moving away from the center.

As for the European Parliament as a whole, by some estimates after this week’s election 35% of the chamber will be filled by anti-establishment parties, albeit of a diverse nature. You have to wonder at what margins the EU will become unworkable or lose legitimacy altogether.

Meanwhile in the U.S., polls show Joe Biden as the presumptive front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination. He is one of the party’s more conservative candidates, and maybe some primary voters value his electability and familiarity over the more left-wing ideas of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. That’s one sign the “hard left” is not in ascendancy in the U.S. Biden’s strategy of running against Trump is another. It’s hard to say how effective that will prove, but it is likely to result in an election about the ideas and policies of Trump, not those of Democratic intellectuals.

Meanwhile, the U.S. economy has remained strong, and Trump’s chances of re-election have been rising in the prediction markets.

One scarcely noticed factor in all of this has been the rising perception of China as a threat to Western interests. The American public is very aware that the U.S. is now in a trade war with China, a conflict that is likely to provoke an increase in nationalism. That is a sentiment that has not historically been very helpful to left-wing movements. China has been one of Trump’s signature causes for years, and he seems to be delighting in having it on center stage.

The Democratic Party is not well-positioned to make China a core issue. Democrats have been criticizing Trump’s tariffs for a while now, and it may be hard for them to adjust their message from “Tariffs Are Bad” to “Tariffs Are Bad But China Tariffs Are OK.” Their lukewarm support for free trade agreements — especially the Trans Pacific Partnership, which could have served as a kind of alternative China trade policy — also complicates matters. The net result is that Republicans will probably be able to use the China issue to their advantage for years to come.

Elsewhere, the world’s largest democracy just wrapped up a lengthy election. The results in India aren’t yet known, but exit polls show that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ruling coalition — and his philosophy of Hindu nationalism — will continue to be a major influence.

In all of this ferment, I am myself rooting for a resurgence of centrist cosmopolitanism. But I try to be honest about how my ideas are doing in the world. And in the last few weeks, I’ve seen a lot of evidence that a new political era truly is upon us.

The best of the lot Geert Wilders and his party seemed to slip a bit, not sure what accounts for that; NL too far gone?

I’m a fan of Wilders also, unfortunately support has shifted to Baudet of Forum for Democracy (FvD). They apparently hold similar views but Baudet is more photogenic and palatable to the masses.

I think he’s just a slicker version of Wilders who tends to be blunt about Islam and perhaps that turns many voters off. But so long as FvD also plans to ‘De-Islamize’ the Netherlands as Wilders intended to do, then I’m good with that.

It’s yet to be seen from Baudet, I’m skeptical and I think the Dutch are very stupid not to make Wilders the PM of their nation but this is the bed they’re choosing to lie in. Maybe they see all the rape-gangs/terrorism that Muslims/Africans have brought to Europe and are perfectly fine if their fellow citizens suffer.

This hard-Left mentality of Europe is a bit difficult for those of us on the center-right in Canada/US to understand but that’s the way they think ‘over there.’ Though Canada has been sinking in that same sort of swamp under Trudeau (and Obama in the US).

No such thing as a “RADICAL moslem”. A moslem is a moslem is a moslem. They (moslems) are ALL the same. A moslem is the vilest of ALL creatures. Only hitler fans, with which I am familiar, are moslems .. and, lest we forget, ALL moslem males are homosexuals.

The author talks about a new political era being upon us,
without ever mentioning what I believe is a core parcel of the changes in
peoples sentiment in regard to moving from the left liberal approach to a more
centrist/right conservative approach, and that is the impact that Islamic
immigrants are having on the worlds politics. Heretofore the world of Islam was
restricted to countries in the Middle East and Asia. Today, the impact of Islam
has travelled across the globe. Islam brings with it a belief system that is
foreign and decidedly unacceptable to the new locales that it is now
inhabiting. They bring to these newer locales a way of dress that is totally
out of place in those free based societies where genders are substantially
equal, and these free based societies do not accept domination of culture or
government, and they do not force a religious belief on its people. The
despotism that is built into the Islamic belief system is, from my perspective,
now being seen by these free societies as an abomination, and I hope that, in
fact, we are seeing a real movement here and worldwide of a process of
rejection that will “kill” off this belief system that otherwise intends to
dominate, subjugate and overthrow everything that our free world societies have
favorably created. I can only root for that as being what might actually be
happening.

Hello Dennis, I concur with all you say. And hope you are right in your prediction. The problem I am concerned with is the shallow and weak lemmings we have in the UK government who support the removal of freedom of speech, with the sole intention of allowing islam to proliferate under a hidden veil. And you can see the indignant looks on the faces of MP’s in parliament when someone sugests that we need to talk about islam.

I truly am concerned for you Brit’s. I hope that it is not too late to turn back the tide of Islam that seems to have adversely affected your free society. While I recognize that some of your problems with open migration is based on the EU open door policy, we, here in America are beginning to see the same results from some of the immigrants that have come to the U.S. and are Islamic believers. What seems to be an obvious result of allowing these believers into our countries is that they bring with them a built in hate that is inconsistent with what our free societies practice, as here in the states we believe in due process, equal treatment, tolerance and being affirmatively neighborly. G.B. also had similar expectations of its people. Islamic’s simply do not abide that conduct. They are taught to hate all of us “others,” especially those of Jewish persuasion, and wherever they go they commit acts of violence. We must protest that conduct vigorously. We must prosecute those who promote that hate , a hate which invariably leads to violence as you can determine with the growth of what we here refer to as “no go zones” of Islamic communities that are spreading thru Europe. Unless our leaders and right thinking people conclude that Islam is the anti-thesis of what we have created here in the free world, in the same manner that we treat Communism, Fascism, Nazism and adverse Socialism, this world that we live in is lost. I hope that both my country and your’s will soon seen the light and reject the foreign and unacceptable conduct that is Islam.

ISLAM is an ideology of ALL NEGATIVE LIBERTIES..

The sentence above says it all about all the minions of Satan who try to deprive mankind of not only his/her existence if they don’t submit, but who will send mankind back to the stone ages. NO THANKS. I will keep my GOD and HIS LIBERTIES HE GAVE ME that man constantly tries to take away!

However, a WORLD LEADER will be revealed soon, who CLAIMS to have all the answers UNTIL he decides you don’t matter anymore IF you do not conform. THAT won’t be a religion. IT WILL BE TYRANNY CLOAKED IN EVIL LIBERTY (all the evils the left loves being allowed). The leftists and Muslims will be responsible for this new leader that people will swoon over. I HOPE I AM DEAD BY THEN. HE WILL BE SATAN’S RIGHT-HAND MAN.

The despotism of the muslim religion is exactly why the left supports them. The left wants to be them! The left wants everybody to believe what they believe, eat what they eat, accept what they accept, etc. The way the muslims control their people is the way the left wants to control us. It took me a long time to figure out why anybody would support such a savage culture, but there it is!

I have found that Geller’s web site is MORE informative and less tyrannical than Breitbart, which is NOW ONE BIG TABLOID OF JUNK INFORMATION. Geller never RESTRICTS your free speech here. BB filters every single thing you say and you spend more wasted time trying to figure out how to dodge their filters than it is worth. I haven’t been to BB in quite some time!

I was walking around the block in my neighborhood earlier today. Did 3 trips, about a mile. Each time I walked by a small SUV with a bumper sticker on the rear bumper. The sticker said “Who is John Galt?” The vehicle was on the block over from me. Hadn’t seen it before. No Lie GI. See above sign in article.

It’s a great shame that Germany had to buck the trend. The AFD who in recent times had been doing so well seem to have dropped and Merkel’s party have gained and come out on top. How can the German people not see the immense damage she has done to their country and the whole of Europe?
I’m amazed at the masochism of the German people. When will they ever learn?
They seem determined to bring the whole of Europe down by supporting this mad old fat slag. The EU is dying and when Britain leaves on the 31st of October other nations will follow in our steps and the Germans pet EU will be in free fall.
Germany’s legacy that it leaves to Europe is the millions of moslems that flood the streets like rats.

Perhaps too little too late. Europeans can’t fight back against the growing Muslim population who will vote for Muslim leaders and/or Leftist Islamopanderers unless there is a concerted effort against their colonization. It can happen here in the US unless people in the West view Islam the same way as they view Nazism. That will take a lot of education about the factual history of Islam.

The next 5 years are the world’s LAST 5 years of freedom, justice, and anything else from GOD. When people put God LAST or make Him an afterthought, the world begins to crumble around them in so many ways.

WAKE UP EUROPE AND TURN TO THE REAL SAVIOR OF THE WORLD, THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, ISAAC, AND JACOB!
