No jail time for former HPD officer charged with sexually assaulting child – Hawaii News Felony sex assault charges usually carry long prison terms, but the 45-year-old only faces five years probation in the Democrat state. At some point, rational, civilized people are not going to live with this degrading, inhuman, totalitarianism. A former Honolulu police officer will not face any jail or prison term when he is sentenced in August for sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl.

Story continues below advertisementAn Oahu grand jury returned an indictment in 2017 charging Teddy O. Van Lerberghe with seven counts of sexual assault, starting in 2004, when the girl was 5 years old. The charges accuse Van Lerberghe of continuing to sexually assault the girl until 2008.
Four of the charges are Class A felonies that carry mandatory 20-year prison terms. The other three are Class C felonies punishable by up to five years in prison.
In a deal with the state, Van Lerberghe, 45, pleaded guilty last week to four Class B felonies, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and the three original Class C felonies. The deal also guarantees Van Lerberghe a five-year probation sentence with no included jail term. He will still have to register as a convicted sex offender for the rest of his life.
Brooks Baehr, spokesman for the Honolulu Department of the Prosecuting Attorney, said, “We’re not going to comment on the case until after Van Lerberghe is sentenced in August.”
Van Lerberghe joined the Honolulu Police Department in January 2007 and was terminated in May 2016.

Beginning on Jan. 1, prostitution by minors will be legal in California. Yes, you read that right.
SB 1322 bars law enforcement from arresting sex workers who are under the age of 18 for soliciting or engaging in prostitution, or loitering with the intent to do so. So teenage girls (and boys) in California will soon be free to have sex in exchange for money without fear of arrest or prosecution.
This terribly destructive legislation was written and passed by the progressive Democrats who control California’s state government with a two-thirds “super majority.” To their credit, they are sincere in their belief that decriminalizing underage prostitution is good public policy that will help victims of sex trafficking. Unfortunately, the reality is that the legalization of underage prostitution suffers from the fatal defect endemic to progressive-left policy making: it ignores experience, common sense and most of all human nature — especially its darker side.

Notice punishment is being defined DOWN. This is agreeable with Hawaii.
There is no way they’d suddenly UP the punishment. It’s done deal and another outrageous injustice.

I guarantee you had it been a white person, prison time would have been in order. If it had been a white liberal there may be some leniency applied. Remember there are not enough white people in prison – minorities are the majority in prison. That was how Obama saw it and it continues to be the mindset. Identity politics plays into our justice system and Hawaii is very liberal! I know this sounds absurd but they want chaos, crime and lawlessness. They need that to show that our current system doesn’t work and needs to be replaced. Never mind that our system DOES work when laws and integrity are applied consistently.
