Honor the Fallen: President Trump Proposed Memorial Day Pardons Right Horrible Wrongs

16

Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. We cannot repay their sacrifice but we can be grateful we finally have a patriot in the White House that loves them as we do. In May, President Donald Trump pardoned former U.S. Army Lieutenant Michael Behenna and is considering pardoning other wrongly imprisoned US soldiers during a Memorial Day celebration. These pardons under review represent a long time reversal of hard left policies that reward our enemies and punish our soldiers. After eight long years of hard-left anti-Americanism under Barack Hussein Obama, President Trump’s  patriotism is like a sweet breath of fresh air.

The left is up in arms, of course. They work diligently to free cop killers, illegal criminals, drug dealers etc but a US soldier defending his country? Heads explode.

Geller Report has been advocating for the release of the soldiers for years. Long overdue.

Thank God for President Trump! He is doing what he can to restore us.
Take note of those that mock and hate him… They are evil people.
You can disagree on policy but the intense hate shown towards him is nothing short of a reprobate mind.

Know the story behind this photo.
Sow Merkel is the one that released this photo trying to look tough against Trump at the G7..
Guess who is still standing – President Trump!

In the picture, Trump is seated, while the G-7 leaders stand around him — each with palpably tense facial expressions. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, whose office released the photo on Instagram, is leaning over a desk, appearing as though she is lecturing him. French President Emmanuel Macron’s eyebrows are furrowed, and his knuckles are digging into the desk; he looks exasperated. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, ostensibly one of Trump’s closer allies, has his arms folded and appears incredulous. https://www.refinery29.com/en-us/2018/06/201423/donald-trump-angela-merkel-g7-photo-2018

Very good description of the dynamic going on here. Trump does not seem to be bothered at all. Nor should he be. Was it planned for him to be seating, ostensibly to give Merkel an advantage?

Matt Naylor on 140 Veteran Suicides per Week:
Don’t Let Them Be ‘Forgotten Soldiers’
By ROBERT KRAYCHIK27

May 2019

Naylor said, “Each week, the Veterans Administration estimates 140 veterans take their own lives, and we want those forgotten soldiers to be remembered this Memorial Day. Those who carry the burdens of war or the burdens of service, and for some, that burden is too great. They take their lives.”

Naylor continued, “It’s those who died in battle, in service, that we remember on Memorial Day. But let’s not also forget those who, today continue to carry the scars of service and 140 veterans, it’s estimated, take their lives every week, a shocking number, who are scarred.”

According to the VA’s most recent data, there were more than 6,000 veteran suicides each year between 2008 and 2016. In 2016, the suicide rate was 1.5 times greater for veterans than for non-veteran adults.

It is “not a new thing” for America to “not look out for our veterans,” observed Naylor, recalling the struggles of American World War I veterans seeking employment and their promised compensation during the Great Depression.

Naylor reflected on Memorial Day’s objective of remembrance. “It’s right that we should take time to remember those who served, and especially those whose lives were lost,” he stated. “Those who went to foreign lands — ‘Over There’ was the song that was sung [during World War I] — to fight for ideals, and gave their lives for people who they never knew. What a remarkable thing that people would do. So it’s right that we ought to remember their sacrifice.”

“It’s really an important moment for us to remember the cost of liberty and freedom that we enjoy,” Naylor advised, describing Memorial Day’s purpose as “keeping alive the memory of those who served and reminding us of the debt we owe our forebears.”

Naylor added, “Remembering those who served, especially those whose lives were lost in those wars and wars since, is the right thing for us to do.”

Naylor contrasted the World War I era’s attitude towards military service with today.

“In some respects, the power of community was so different than it is in our experience today, and so the sense of obligation that they had to country, for many people, was significantly different than the sort of individualism we have today,” estimated Naylor.

“I think, surely, that has a profound effect on people’s willingness — or their sense of obligation that they had — to serve. There really wasn’t much of a choice. Men and women who served in World War II would say the same thing,” remarked Naylor.

Americans in the World War I and II era had “a great sense of obligation which is a different sort of experience than we experience today,” assessed Naylor.

President Trump is gradually restoring a sense of honor to the military.

The prior administration, while perhaps appropriating monies to the military services and using them to fight wars, just saw them as a political asset. It was an unspoken war, the war on the soldiers (service members of all services). While there was widespread outcry about the White House’s “War on cops”, and a book about it, Heather MacDonald’s
“The War on Cops”, The war on service members deserves at least a chapter if not an entire book, but the White House’s war on the military services during the Obama years seems to have been overlooked, perhaps quashed by the propaganda outlets of the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC, the usual actors.
Military service members are subject to the Code of Military Justice, which from observation over the last several years of the Washington viewpoint of the uniformed services, is subject to political exploitation.

The uniformed services top brass, Joint Chiefs of Staff, flag officer corps (Generals and Admirals) are political appointees, are subject to Senate confirmation after appointment by the President.

This puts the rank and file essentially at the mercy of whoever is sitting in the Oval Office as Commander in Chief.

If the Commander in Chief sees military members as just one more asset for political purposes, service members will be “thrown under the bus” in order to gain political support and momentum at the voting booth.

I sense that President Trump has more respect for the rights as well as the responsibilities of service members, something long overdue.

.
President Trump’s day to day activities, his speeches, his actions, and now pardons for service members caught up in the brutality of combat speak to his respect and honor of service members, not to excuse any criminal actions that occur, but to treat service members fairly, as was the intent of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Perhaps the Obama White House’s perspective on the military can be seen in it’s approach to trials for terrorists who were implicated in the 9/11 attacks.
The Obama White House was bringing the terrorists to trial in New York, in the ordinary criminal court system. The Obama White House and Eric Holder as Attorney General attempted to completely bypass the military tribunal justice system and have criminals tried in the criminal court system. I think that eventually was abandoned, but not for want of trying. Conversely, the approach to trying service members indicated a similar approach, treat military service members as criminals rather than as combatants in war. The brutality of combat calls for a different approach than treating military service in the same category as street crime. We are seeing the contrasts now between the Obama White House and the Trump White House in review and pardoning some service members who were involved in combat operations overseas.

I despise Obama, traitor and Islamist that he is, but this treason of railroading our combat fighters was started by GWB. He’s a POS, and hence the name “Bush Crime Family”. He couldn’t utter a word during the entire 8 years of Obama’s treason, but can’t resist attacking DJT, a REAL President, whenever he can. That tells you all you need to know about the idiot GWB’s lack of character and where his loyalties lie.
DJT should pardon every one of these combat guys, give them back-pay for time served at a rank they would have attained after 20 years(or 30 years), then a full military retirement at that rank. Next he should launch a review of EVERY Staff Judge Advocate office who brought these charges, and also look at EVERY General officer who presided over these courts. Rip some stars off these f’ing fake Generals and demote them or throw them out, then prosecute the SJA’s when you find the disloyal groups(or countries) they are in bed with.
Lastly, he should assign people to review every warrior who was railroaded out by the “SHE-ocracy” of femi-nazis.
