Several people were shot on Saturday at a San Diego synagogue. Police have one man in custody.The shooting took place exactly six months after the Tree of Life Shooting in Pittsburgh.
One of the victims is said to be the synagogue’s Rabbi, Yisorel Goldstein, who founded the Chabad center in 1986.
There is at least one fatality.
The mayor of Poway is calling this a hate crime.Police searched a home in San Diego today following the shooting.

Police said the killer left a manifesto. Authorities are also examining his social media accounts.
According to reports the manifesto was posted on Pastebin on Saturday.

According to the Jerusalem Post, the manifesto’s author decries “international Jewry” for “sealing the doom” of the “European race” and goes on to accuse Jews of a litany of wrongdoings, including exerting inordinate power over the economy and media. The manifesto also blames Jews for their so-called “role” in the propagation of Marxism and pornography. Further, the author blames Jews for what he describes as the “persecution of Christians,” including the killing of Jesus Christ and prophets such as Isaiah and Jeremiah.
“Every Jew young and old has contributed to these. For these crimes they deserve nothing but hell. I will send them there,” the post reads.
“Make sure to call me a ‘white supremacist’ and ‘anti-semite’ or whatever bullshit you spew to spook the normalfags,” another part reads. “It doesn’t even matter. You’ve been calling every White person alive those names for decades—they’ve lost all their meaning.”

Yes, if it werent for that officer, many more lives would have been lost, for sure. All the more reason why more people should conceal carry and do so now in churches and synagogues. It’s just too dangerous now not to. That is a very weird thing to say but unfortunately true.

Before shaking the dust off of my feet, I had a meeting with the minister. I asked for his reasoning, as I know that it was his decision, as I had already spoken to two members of the Board of Ruling Elders (not to be confused with Trustees) and they were taken aback by “The Reverend’s” decision. So, when I asked him why he had made that decision, which wasn’t his to make, as he works for the congregation, it’s a corporate body and he is nothing but an employee … after he turned beet red, he said that firearms might frighten some of the congregation … When leaving, I stated, save the church some money and have me removed from the rolls … and Let’s just prorate my pledge. “See ya later, Rev”.

The law to purchase rifles took effect Jan.1, 2019. So, if the shooter is 19, it is possible he was able to purchase his gun legally before the law took effect.

The rabbi injured in the synagogue shooting near San Diego on Sunday raved about Donald Trump’s kind words following a telephone conversation the pair had and said the president assured him that tackling anti-Semitism was a priority of his.
Trump was “exceedingly comforting to me, my community,” Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein told reporters outside the Chabad of Poway synagogue a day after he was shot in both of his index fingers.
In a separate interview with MSNBC Goldstein said Trump “spoke to me like a friend, like a buddy.”
Trump, said Goldstein, told him he loves Israel.
“He said, listen, I have a son-in-law who’s Jewish, a daughter that’s Jewish, I have grandchildren that are Jewish. I love Israel, we’re going to do whatever we can to protect the Jewish people of United States of America and abroad.”
“It was the highlight of the day after everything I’ve been through to hear from the president himself to be so comforting and consoling. It meant a lot to our community, meant a lot to me,” he added.
“He was exceedingly kind and sensitive. We spoke for close to 15 minutes. I thought to myself, for the President of the United States of America to take time out of his day to talk to me about the issues at hand was just absolutely incredible and admirable.”
Goldstein founded the Chabad of Poway synagogue in Poway, Calif., which was targeted by a 19-year-old gunman armed with an assault-style weapon who wrote a manifesto of hate against Jewish people.
Lori Gilbert Kaye, 60, died after shielding Goldstein from the bullets. Three others were injured in the shooting, which happened on the final day of Passover. A suspect was taken into custody.

When a person reads the rants and acts of these lunatics, one can often analyse their mental state. Also irriational, frustrated, low self esteem, temper, upbringing, education, atitude, etc. Then look at their peers —if any— and of course mental illness. Then flip the the coin and look at the target. To reduce a lengthy debate, look at Jews. The majority believe in Hashem, bother about education, friendship, kindness, the neighbourhood, are non confrontational and all the good things most normal folk bother about. The result : the Jews are an easily identifiable target for these miscreants. They know that retaliation and revenge is almost non existent. Maybe, just maybe, we should behave like hooligans on Harleys or other tough biker gangs, These 19 year old cowards would think twice.
Another thing . I constantly read how expensive security is!!! We have our own volunteers, professionally trained who are on duty during all services. eg: When a strange man wishes to enter our synagogue. Simple friendly chatter will soon ID the chap. Like this question: ” …..so tell me, where did you have your batmitzvah?” You will snap immediatly by the stangers responce!! Blessings to the bereaved and injured!!

What will tone down the Jew-hatred as well as other forms of racial and ethnic violence is a move to the CENTER, toward tolerance and equality, the “classic” liberal values this country was founded upon. Both the far right and the far left trample on those values, on that fragile structure of democracy framed in our Constitution of checks and balances, of an informed electorate and civil debate of the issues. Instead, we get hate speech, demonization, and propagandistic slurs coming from the extremists on both sides. Including you, Mr. President.

Are you completely incapable of grasping nuance? Or are you openly in disagreement with the guiding principle of Ms. Geller’s informative website?
No, I do not support, in any way, those who commit acts of terror against anybody for any reason, those who (even peacefully) advocate replacing our democratic secular government with Sharia law, or those who support and encourage either of those goals.
I am fully in favor of the international-in-scope fight of civilized people against these savages — as Ms. Geller has often put it, including on her famous bus ads.
But as Ms. Geller also is at pains to frequently point out, her opposition to JIHADISM does not and should not translate into a generalized opposition to and hatred of ALL MUSLIMS simply for being Muslims. No, I’m not going to go back and research that for you — you’ve been on this site for a long time; go back and look at your archives.
And, here’s why I take that position: it is an ESSENTIAL part of the fight against global jihadism. Because the LAST thing we opponents of jihad want to do, assuming we actually want to DO SOMETHING to lessen or prevent such terrorism and reduce the possibility that the Sharia advocates will experience success, is to confuse and conflate “being Muslim” with “being a jihadi,” which does two very bad things. First, it leads gullible Western multiculturalists to fail to see or condemn jihadism AT ALL (the opposite of the result we want). AND second, it turns off those (relatively, if you insist) innocent Muslims who would otherwise be motivated to HELP US fight jihadism — because, as you may have forgotten to mention, MOST of the victims of violent jihadism are fellow Muslims, whose embrace of the tenets of Islam either is not fervent enough to satisfy the particular jihadist group doing the killing on this particular day, OR is of the “wrong” variety (according to today’s batch of shooters and beheaders).
I’m not saying you have to LIKE these folks, hold hands, and sing Kumbaya with them. But I AM saying that if you run around blathering “the only good Muslim is a dead Muslim” or the equivalent, YOU WILL turn them off to any possibility of helping humane, tolerant, and sensible democratic societies fight the jihadism in their midst. And that would only lead to MORE terrorism.
Call me crazy, but I would like to see LESS terrorism. And what you advocate is NOT HELPING.
