That is scary! I can imagine not wanting an ice bath – especially when one is little.
Fever spikes are scary when they are little. Thankfully we only had a scare like that with our last one. Yeah Pedialyte is familiar….

My kids attended a private school K-12 also and had no problems. Their school required the NJ mandatory shots. Maybe they were just lucky. I think some of today’s vaccines are problematic – such as the one for pneumonia which we refused since it was still optional. Today it is mandatory. When they are little I believe they get too many shots too soon. Their immune systems are immature and I am not convinced that over taxing an immature immune system is wise. Plus the vaccine is stronger than it used to be. I’m just glad we are done with that stuff.

As adults we avoid all their vaccines for the flu etc.. I’ve seen people get very ill from flu shots. I tell my kids all the time to AVOID unnecessary shots and don’t believe the doctors Research it. My last one was being arm twisted into getting a Gardasil shot which we also refused. It’s really for promiscuous kids.. It doesn’t prevent cancer as they were claiming. I would always call before their yearly physical to see what shots were required and read up on them. We had a substitute doctor and he was really obnoxious. Her regular doctor was normal and avoided the intrusive closed door chats without a parent in the room…. Crappy doctors are dying to put them on birth control as soon as possible without your knowledge or consent. I hear now they are pushing gender confusion when a parent is not in the room.

Anyway, we had a scary experience with our youngest one – high fever just like you described. She kept passing out. We knew something was very wrong so we made an appointment with her pediatrician. When we described her symptoms, we were told to keep her talking so we did on the way to her pediatrician. I can’t remember what caused it. Had we not taken her to her doctor she would have been in dire trouble. For the life of me, I can’ t remember what it was called. I remember she had to be woken every four hours, put a mask on her face and breathe in some stuff. That went on for nearly a week. She was really little so it was a challenge. Thankfully that only happened once. I wish I could remember what she had. That scares me! It’s 50/50 that I can get Alzheimer’s. I remember the incident well but not the name of what she had. I don’t remember ice baths .. she could have had them but I don’t remember.

Our last one would often get bronchitis and colds but that was due to how her school was laid out. They had to put their coats on, go outside and go to other buildings for classes. The school wasn’t contained in one building. The teacher had an aid but from what I could tell, as long as they had their coats on, that’s all they cared about. They were strict about kids coming to school ill. If anyone came in sick, they were immediately sent to the nurses office and stayed there till someone picked them up.
