Foreign Investment in Israel Skyrocketed in Past Two Years, United With Israel, JNS.ORG, April 8, 2019.
A Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) report released Sunday reveals that foreign investments in Israel totaled $129.1 billion for 2017, a 20.2 percent increase compared to 2016 and 30 percent higher than 2015, which saw foreign investment of under $100 billion.
The CBS figures covered investments by foreign residents or companies who bought more than a 10 percent stock share in Israeli companies.
In 2017, 60.4 percent of foreign investment went to the fields of trade and services. The remaining investment was divided between high-tech (32.6 percent), industry (28.3 percent) and advanced technologies (15.8 percent).
The greatest amount of investment by foreign residents came from the United States ($21.1 billion), followed by the Netherlands, the Cayman Islands, Canada, China, Luxembourg, Singapore and Switzerland.
Israelis abroad were also investing more outside of Israel.

Madonna will perform at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, the singer’s rep confirms to Variety. The contest, an international showcase of musical talent in which 43 countries participate, is set for May 14 to 18.
According to reports, Madonna will perform two songs — a classic from her repertoire and a new single — at the show’s May 18 finale. She is expected to release a new album this year.
Eurovision has become a much-loved annual event across Europe since it began in 1956. Last year’s winner was Israeli Netta Barzilai, who took the top prize in Lisbon, Portugal with the song “Toy.” The 64th edition of the contest will be broadcast around the world from the Expo Tel Aviv International Convention Center in Israel with semi-final shows on May 14 and 16, and the final broadcast on May 18.

Israel is poised this week to become the 4th country to land a craft on the moon when Beresheet touches down on April 11th.
Beresheet, the Space IL spacecraft, is scheduled to land on the moon on April 11, one week after successfully completing its most critical maneuver on Thursday afternoon.
During the complex moon-capture maneuver successfully carried out by SpaceIL’s engineering team and IAI on Thursday night, Beresheet photographed spectacular images of the moon while the engines were running and at the peak of the moon’s capture maneuver.
